"Into the Storm" is an impressive special effects show with tornadoes that are actually frightening. My home and neighborhood was struck by a F2 strength twister about 10 years ago and while that is a small to mid-sized tornado, I can attest that it is scary. It makes me wonder if it would be possible to make a movie about a big storm, complete with Horror-genre tone.
This contained some amazingly violent strikes by huge tornadoes ripping through a small mid-western city. I don't know why a city of its size would have an airport with jumbo jets sitting on the runway, but it sure looked cool.
The acting was awful and all of the characters were uninteresting. The build up to the big storm was almost non-existent and there was really no suspense to speak of. Some teenyboppers almost drown in the basement of an abandoned paper mill which was about the only real nail-biting segment of the movie. There was a shocking moment when a man gets lit on fire and is sucked up into a vortex. I laughed uncomfortably over the craziness of it. I absolutely despised two drunken idiots who somehow managed to elude certain death. This comic relief was not necessary and was ridiculous.
It's been said too many times before but it is possible to turn off your brain and take in the spectacle of disaster presented by "Into the Storm".
Great film, definitely one of the best natural disaster films around
An absolute shitwreck of a movie
Yeah... it's pretty bland and forgettable. With as much great action and special effects as are in this, it's surprisingly boring. This ain't no twister.
An extremely cliché disaster movie with some good effects.
Agree with hostile - very corny acting, but movie is saved from full pan by tornado action scenes. First 40% of movie is stupid until first tornado touches down. Sarah Wayne Callies is not bad to look at either.
It started off disastrous with terrible acting, corny lines and a less than average grip on myself as a viewer. I was super terrified that it was going to be another teenager based flick with a first person perspective like Project Almanac, but then it started picking up. I began liking the character development and the special effects were on point as well. It's really hard to beat Twister in my opinion and in no way does this top that phenomenal cast and realistic experience it gave me, but I enjoyed Into the Storm nonetheless. I would also like to note that Sarah Callies from The Walking Dead and Alycia Carey from The 100 had a powerful role in grabbing my attention.
Roller coaster ride without much plot... no surprise!
This is one of the most disappointing movies of 2014. If you want action without the bad acting and equally bad script, just watch the trailer, that's as much action as you're going to get.
demasiado parecida a twister, nada nuevo
Corny acting and cliches, but fun watch. Has some pretty good action shots with nice visual effects and surround sound. Not a keeper but worth the watch.
Enjoyable, lives up to the genre.
Not to be taken seriously....
Extremely hard to watch. Worse than a SyFy movie. Really, really, really bad.
Entertaining movie with, at times, amazing special effects. Dialogue and relationships between the cast quite bizarre at times.
I preferred a Twister as a movie which felt more realistic.
what a freaking bad movie....
Nothing special, tons of cliches but still entertaining enough to watch it
Pssst!! Mejor es ver Sharknado!!
A Twister almost 20 years later, but the only worthwhile here is the tornadoes, story and actors not
No me gusto demasiado , prefiero twister
filled with cliches and plot holes, but I had fun watching this =)
With 4DX effects we might say Twister v.2 ;)
I award this film no stars, and may God have mercy on their souls.
A breath-taking movie. An Amazing experience.
Weather channel: The movie. I was expecting less but in fact enjoyed it more than Twister. Of course it is predictable and some scenes are not made according to our Universe physics, but well, this is a movie.
