I’m not going to waste my time writing a bad review. It’s the worst sh*t ever and a disgrace.
I love this movie way more than it deserves.
Mel Gibson climbs back into the black leather pants for a third run-around as George Miller's dusty, dystopian desert-goer, in what would be his curtain call with the franchise. Something of a paradox, Beyond Thunderdome is both a different beast from the other Max movies and, at the same time, cut from the same cloth.
The budget has certainly ballooned, lending a mainstream sheen to the formerly scrappy, seat-of-pants production. That influx of cash goes a long way, enabling Miller's vision to blossom into a genuine dash of unrestrained wasteland genius (the wardrobe, vehicle and environment designs are way ahead of their time), but the non-action scenes feel far softer and less confident than before. Chalk that up to the extra director, I guess, who kept an eye on the shop while Miller concentrated on getting the adrenaline-driven shots just right. There's still no shortage of inspired, alien weirdness, but it feels less essential, less purposeful. Tina Turner's bejeweled junkyard princess is a good example, talking and acting tough but lacking the conviction and follow-through to really make the role mean anything. Max's mid-act sidetrack to meet an oasis-dwelling troupe of forgotten children is equally hollow, like someone dropped the pilot episode of a spin-off series in the midst of the original film.
At least it all comes together for an appropriately white-knuckled sendoff: another epic, high-octane pileup with a colorful fleet of spike-trimmed desert buggies and flame-belching hot rods. I was beginning to wonder what'd become of all the eight-cylinder death machines that were so pervasive in preceding chapters.

Great first act but it goes down hill once Max is casted away to the desert.
Good. You need a sense of humour for this one. Boring? I found the first Mad Max more boring.
A more family friendly Max film. That is pretty much Max and Peter Pan’s Lost Boys teaming up. The last action scene does at least feel like Mad Max.
I find the film entertaining. Even if the middle doesn’t make much sense. With Max being mistaken for a pilot and worshipped by a young tribe.
I love the film though since with Tina Turner in the movie and doing the soundtrack. The movie feels more pure 80’s than the other films.
It is weird that Bruce Spence is playing a pilot but not the same character as he did in Road Warrior. It should have just been the same guy.
There’s too much complaints that this isn’t enough like the others. I would dare say there’s more plot to this than Fury Road had. The movie smartly builds it’s way up to the usual Max Max style car chase scene.
Sadly the critics got this movie better than normal viewers. It is still a post apocalyptic film. Still very much a Mad Max film, stop whining.
Essentially what would happen if Disney made a Mad Max movie. All three movies are at least very distinct from one another but this is not Mad Max, it doesn't feel like Mad Max. It has the same weird characters/costumes and the same dystopian world but nothing about gas of car chases (except one in the third act). It's Mel Gibson playing Max on paper, but this character isn't Max by any stretch of the imagination. No continuity whatsoever with the character or story.
I was really enjoying the first act and the cage fight was awesome. Second act turns into Peter Pan, that was awful and it really made me lose interest. The third act finally picks up with car chases and I had some fun but yeah, the second act made me disinterested in the story.
Tina Turner (god rest her soul) was probably the most interesting character in the movie. It's not really that she's a good actress, but rather that everyone around her is mediocre. And her music does not fit with this movie or franchise whatsoever.
Disappointed, again. Now that i'm finished with the three drafts, I can finally watch the final form; Fury Road.
A far-fetched continuation of the series.
The first half of the film stages the most elaborate and "advanced" post-apocalypse up to this part of the series, putting Max in the middle of a power struggle between two parties seeking sole control of a city. The main character becomes the pawn, this rivalry, but the biggest casualty is the second half of the film. This one I would just like to summarise as Hook in the post-apocalypse or Mad Max the kindergarten teacher. If the film had stayed closer to Thunderdome and become something of a gladiator, it would be a 4 out of 5. Beyond Thunderdome, unfortunately, it's only a 1 out of 5.
After the awesome movie that was Mad Max 2, this one surely feels like it takes a step backwards. I still enjoyed it more than the original, as it has the “Mad Max” feel I went into the trilogy expecting. Overall, a solid and pretty consistent trilogy. I could easily see this being one where everyone has a different “favorite”. For me, this one is in the middle but not by much either way.
Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching
Acting: 2/3
Cinematography: 2/3
Story: 2/3
You’re telling me they cast Bruce Spence to play the same character he played in The Road Warrior but it’s not actually the same character?
Definitely the weakest entry in the series.
I'm a pretty big fan of the first two Mad Max movies. They are dark, gritty and stylish. Thunderdome is not like these at all. it's campy, light-hearted, and silly with an almost non-existent plot and some poor acting (I'm looking at you Tina). Thunderdome feels like it should be part of another franchise. Better to stick with the first 2 and forget this even exists.
Rebuscada continuation of the series.

This is wrong in so many ways. They took the Mad Max tag and put it on an otherwise mediocre movie with a bad script. Maybe this would have been a good Indiana Jones movie but this isn't Mad Max by any means.
And while Tina Turner is a great singer/performer on stage, she is one of the worst actresses I've seen.
If you'd liked the first two then you better don't watch this
