This movie takes no hostages... The driving was absolutely top notch, the special effects were beyond good and although the action was relentless, it never once felt fatigued or over done. This movie delivers on all its promises. If you want a pure action flick that wastes no time, Mad Max Fury Road is it!
One of the best compliments you can give to a movie is that it takes you and wouldn't let you go before the end credits. That's what Max Mad did to me. The whole movie is so intense that my eyes were glued to the screen. The cinematography is gorgeous and make a world come to life. The main characters feel real and you can rely to them. I like it when a main characters isn't the 'invulnerable' hero, so you feel more tenses in the scenes because 'it could go wrong for him'. All this is directed in a perfect way. All of the action is filmed with a steady cam, thank god! No shaky cam but steady and wide shots which make the action scenes a real experience. I have no real faults with this film, I loved it from begin to the end. So I would recommend it for everyone who wants an awesome 2 hours.
I had no exceptions when I walked into the cinema, but I walked out content and happy. Charlize Theron is a sight for sore eyes even when she's tuff and hard. A movie that should be seen in cinemas, great action throughout the movie.
Sometime I'm amazed about how such mediocre movies can be pumped and overhyped for so little...I mean it could have almost been a decent action movie if it was a little bit shorter, and had at least one tiny bit of developing in the storyline beyond "cool machines driven by freaks chasing in the desert".. All in all beside a great costumes design and props what you are left with, is just some sort a giant shallow videoclip, with a great visual reworking of the post atomic imaginary introduced from the first Mad Max. Oh yes and plus some half naked models. It's true, after all those useless blurry, hyperkinetic camera movements we got overdosed in the last decades, it's refreshing to see some more traditional shooting with a proper image composition...on the other hand Fury Road to (badly) counterbalance one good thing, need to add something really wrong, hence I have the feeling it will be remembered for one of the worst night photography seen since who knows when maybe the 70s...I mean blue filtering for the night sequences?! c'mon is that a joke?!...in the age of the uber ISO settings digital camera brought even to consumer market? Is really depressing to see so blatantly fake night scenes in a big budget movie...and for no immaginabile reason.I was about to let it go half the way, honestly I made it to the end just out of curiosity...not for the movie itself which became boring pretty soon, but because I was desperately looking for that special something that should have made this movie worth at least some of the praise I had read from audience and critics alike. Needless to say, there was nothing until the end...just you know, the desert...
Wrong Title ... Correct is "Furiosa: Fury Road (feat. Mad Max)"
This was a tough one--a little bit more 'story telling' and I think this may have been great, but to much was left out for their actually to be a movie with any reason--cool special effects is just not good enough for me these days, there actually needs to be a reason for the movie to have been made...
The Earth Mothers restore sanity to the world was a bit tired, the fractured evil triplets were not well developed--Raging Leader, Financial Scum, Super Hunter needed at least two more scenes to really make any sense or have an purpose in the film--to have been menacing. They 'landscapes' lacked diversity--though the Hurricane Alley & Desolate Swamp were great, we could have used more 'changes in scenery' at some level particularly the crushing urban stuff from the first film.
Hope is dangerous, Who Killed the Earth, Haunted by Nightmares of the Past, Drifter/Savior were all simple movie tropes that could have been developed SIGNIFICANTLY to make a movie that would have paid off a lot more.
Overrated junk, with no plot and no play. Waste of time.
Finally got to go to the cinema recently to watch the new Mad Max film, and just got around to completing my review on it all. I honestly thought I wouldn't get to see it at the cinema as it didn't seem to be the sort of film I could drag my wife along to. But thanks to the wonder of the @wittertainment podcast, she was willing (if not eager) to see what all the fuss was about, especially as she had not seen any of the other Mad Max films before. I on the other hand remember them from my younger days, and recall the excitement and intrigue that came from this post-apocalyptic world. Granted, we had lost Mel, but I felt Tom Hardy was an excellent choice to fill the role.
What was this film about you may ask? Well, the world has been turned into a wasteland run by those that controlled the oil (and without all their faculties in place). Max has lead a heartbreaking past, and one that has left him in emotional turmoil that he may never fully recover from. The world is full of car gangs, insanity, aggression, and heroes of grey.
Upon sitting down to watch the film, I was ready to just forget all the woes and stresses of my current days, and just be washed over my the film. I must say, this was the perfect choice for such a requirement. The action scenes were close to non-stop, I recall a few quiet periods during the film, but these did not last for long. Now, it is hard to explain how this is a good thing, many times you may hear people go to films and whinge about weak dialogue, or lack of depth to a film, this is not something you hear people comment on with regards to this instalment in the Mad Max saga. I feel that the main reason for this lies with the strength and integrity of the actors and writers. Whilst dialogue was limited, emotion was portrayed in actions and facial emotions, giving another way to show how the world has moved on, and talking is no longer the requirement it is today.
Further to this, there are several points for discussion (and often arguments) afterwards such as portrayals of feminism and physical disability portrayed on film, especially in a film that feels superficially simplistic on the surface. They could easily have gone with various stereotypes of film, and sold to the same audience as all the other high-octane action films, but instead they carefully laced some strong thoughts into the story.
Overall, this was an excellent film, both fun to watch and exhilarating. Also, whilst the story and plot points are not complicated, there are some very interesting visuals and more subtle points to the story which are in some ways more interesting because they are pushed to the background (as though the fact that a character is female, or has a disability is inconsequential, and the story does not care). So long as you aren't of the faint hearted, I would certainly recommend this film though if you were considering it, just don't expect to relax at all.
Wow, that was the most boring, inane, stupid waste of time that I've been through in a long time. A lot of pretty pictures, I'll grant you that, but no plot, no story, no drama, no meaningful interaction, no nothing! Just endless pointless "action" that makes no sense -- kind of like a colorful kids movie for wannabe grownups. I really have no idea how on earth this movie could score an 8+ rating on IMDB.
must be the only one that didn't like it that much
I love the drums and guitar on the Doof Warrior's Doof Wagon. This is what the Blue Man Group would be doing in a post apocalyptic world.
After enjoying this movie in IMAX 3D, I must say I'm utterly pleased. It keeps within the original Mad Max story, so isn't a reboot as such. Miller makes his presence be felt at the helm every single frame and his bag of tricks is full, and generous. The movie benefits A LOT from the 3D conversion for its very jumpy-action nature (however there's one shot when a driver's wheel jumps from the screen, that feels so 80's, that made me chuckle, you'll know when you see it), and the score was surprisingly good (I'm gonna buy it at iTunes right away). Hardy's performance is in tune with Gibson's: few words, pedal to the metal and dry humour here and there. You have to experience this film on the big screen, and I'm gonna bet that you'll love it just as myself.
Seriously the biggest load of poop ever.
One of the worst movie from 2015. No background about the characters, bad storytelling, flat dialogs. Did the actors have any script what they should speak? I think not. If you like action and don't give a fuck about storylines than mad max fury road is definitely a good movie for you, if you like stories and background grab another movie!
After watching "Mad Max: Fury Road", I can say I had alot of fun! If I was rating this movie based on how much fun I had I'd be giving it a nine out of 10. But alas my rating system is based on what I feel the quality of the film is. No I'm not talking points because I had fun watching and I just genuinely feel as though the movies a fine seven outta 10.
There are a lot of aspect in the film that were genuinely impressive. The cinematography was pretty great, the computer-generated imagery was used sparingly. There were some parts that didn't feel visually quite real, but for the most part it wasn't enough to take anybody out at the movies and most of all he was just fun it was like if Death Race 3 wasn't awful.
I'm not gonna complain that there wasn't really much to the story because anybody can tell that the movie wasn't really trying to be heavily story-driven. In all honesty, if the movie is going for the cool and fun factor, I'd rather have it be like this one, where it doesn't spend an eternity dicking around in between the cool and fun scenes. In "Mad Max: Fury Road", the story was just enough so that the cool and fun seems didn't feel stupid and pointless. I like how over the top and ridiculous it was and I wouldn't want the movie to be any other way. In fact I hope the next movie goes even further.
Believe it or not I was reminded of "Army of Darkness" during the fight scene with the chain in the struggle for the gun. There are a few things that annoyed me about the presentation of the movie but they were fairly minimal. There are a few of those family flashback hallucination shots they were a little cheesy, and yeah I know we're talking about the same movie where there's a dude on top of a car playing electric guitar while riding to his death. But I think it's important to differentiate between cheese during something fun and cooland scenes doing something that's supposed to be dramatic and serious.
As someone that does a lot of editing, there were a few things that were distracting and took me out of the film for bit. When slow footage is sped up to make it look fast, some people just the slow footage sped up to make it look badass.
Overall, this is a FUN and ENJOYABLE MOVIE!!!
I just watched a two-hour commercial for CGI. What a collossal dissapointment.
I don't see why someone would watch this movie. IMO, it is a bunch of vehicles chasing another and the only thing that happens troughout the movie is them exploding and crashing into eachother - of course, troughout the whole storyline, everything is happening in a dessert to make things even more borring and monotone. Can someone list me at least 10 reasons why he/she would watch this move?!
Unpopular opinion but I found this movie repetitive and somewhat boring. While I agree that the scenery, cinematography, music and special effects are outstanding. There is not much of a plot, we got these guys running away for 2 hours and not much happens, some people die, some things get blown away, they find some obstacle, the same thing nonstop for 2 hours. While I appreciate action it has to be interspersed with some moments of plot development and interesting dialogue, otherwise it just becomes boring.
i give it "2:Terrible" one for Tom and one for Charlize :)
Nice effects ... VERY LOW story ... I would not say it has been a wast of time, but yeah ... Its been so weird ... Its kinda like a car accident, you cant really look away and just keep staring...
weird weird weird ... cant really recommend it
horrible movie. Stopped watching it half way through
I paid ticket and snacks for this movie because I heard on the internet it was feminist, and I was not disappointed, not at all. Of course the beginning was a bit off putting given the bizarre setting of the movie, but once I got used to it I even accepted the guitar player with his stereo car. It's great to see a disabled woman, raised by women and helping women, carry so much of the plot. And also the girls. All amazing, diverse, and well-rounded.
The story mechanics are quite familiar to some who have seen a few post-apocalyptic and western films before. Every sequence has its purpose, and every character's action on screen is justified.
To quote some guy who worked on the set of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, there's so much going on in every frame that tells you everything you need to know without having to tell you through its characters (and this quote is more relevant to Fury Road than it ever was Phantom Menace). The action set-pieces are the best thing to happen to Hollywood's tainted, reanimated corpse, like a refreshing spring rain after a decade's drought. And now men's rights groups are getting their panties in a twist because Charlize Theron's character, Imperator Furiosa, was given more dialogue in the trailer for the film.
I won't say anything more. These men's rights activists are jerks. If you have balls and the option to grow facial hair, be a real man and see this film. Bring a date.
The Mad Max concept after all these years....is still pretty dumb.
Excellent Movie. Very exciting movie, I was on the edge of my seat from the get-go. The lore and world that was created for this movie is impressive and sets the stage for sequels.
Tom Hardy's character is conservative, barely speaking any lines. Charlize Theron has once again proved herself with another great performance.
I highly recommend
When I saw the reviews for this movie my first thought was "Every critic has lost their minds... even me."
The story is about a post-apocalyptic wasteland - the fight for survival has twisted the remnants of mankind, turning most into mad, vicious gangs. In this chaotic world two rebels may be able to restore order while seeking their own forms of redemption: Max, a man who just wants peace after losing his wife and child and Furiosa - who thinks finding her childhood home is the answer.
What a lovely day to be talking about Mad Max: Fury Road, because the trailers and the reviews for this movie have been off the walls mad. I mean five out of five star's! wow, just wow. The last Mad Max film came out in 1985, so it's a been a long time and so was this movie, as development took a long time. So I was curious and a bit shady for this movie, by seeing if George Miller (The director of the original films) was going to bring to the table. Now after seeing the movie and having a long thought about it, this movie is freaking awesome, no actually this is the best action movie of the year and probably the decade.
George Miller goes back to his roots and he doesn't disappointment. After all these years later he's still got it. He filmed all the action scenes with care and effort, because most of the action in this movie are mostly practical effects and that right there shows that Miller is going back to old school of action, and it's perfect. You are the man Miller!
The movie itself is mad and I do mean freaking insane. There's a guy in this movie who plays a flamethrower electric guitar on top of a speed vehicle and all through out the movie he was rocking it out. I don't know why, but little things like that made this movie so mad that it's enjoyable.
Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky was good, I mean he wasn't as good as Mel Gibson but I still think he did a great job. Most of the time Max doesn't talk all that much, I mean most of he's lines are "huh", or "Water", but he has a couple of lines in the movie and it sounded epic all the time.
Charlize Theron (as Furiosa) is basically the main character and Max is the supporting character. Charlize Theron was like a female version of Max in a way, because her character steels the whole show as her character is a strong female bad-ass that kicks so much ass that it's very rare in action movies today to do that. Now think of all the strong female character's in past action movies, well that's Furiosa right here.
The action scenes can be best describe as incredible and freaking crazy. The stunt work used during the movie was f**king amazing. There actually used practical effects mixed with CGI during the action scenes which looked so good and much better than over using effect's to make something look incredible and I know they used some CGI for scenes where it needed it, because it would be too dangerous or impossible to do, but for the most part it's all practical effect's. NOW THIS IS HOW ACTION MOVIES SHOULD BE DONE! THANK YOU MAD MAX: FURY ROAD FOR DOING THIS!!! Okay, I had to get that out there and sorry for shouting.
Immortan Joe (played by Hugh Keays- Byrne), and yes he was in the first Mad Max movie, but here he plays a different villain this time and a menacing one as well. He was like a mix of Dark Vader and Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal (Video Game). He was awesome villain that didn't take sh*t from anyone and always looked like he was going to cause a whole lot of trouble every time he's on screen.
The cinematography was just beautiful and some of the best looking shoots so far this year. I can't believe I'm saying that for a action movie that's been in development for years and it payed off perfectly. This is very rare for this to happen as a lot of movie franchises that have been in the making for years and years would normally come out to late where every body just lost interest and give up waiting, and the movie itself would turn out not so good, but here is much different. This movie broke new grounds of coming out late but still being a amazing thrill ride.
The other women in the movie know as the five wives are not just there to look pretty and be saved by any man, no they kicked ass in the movie and they actually did something. The five wives were strong women and this isn't just a mans movie, I mean most of the movie is the women kicking ass and being awesome. They kick more ass then Max ever did. That's why I got to give this movie praise for that.
Now for the problems: I tried to look for things that didn't quite work for the movie and to be honest I couldn't find anything that I thought wasn't good. Well there was some slow parts in the movie but the slow parts where the action clams down for now it fills it's time with character development and back story and it worked.
Overall rating: Forget "Pitch Perfect 2", this is the movie you should see at cinema. As a movie reviewer myself who wants action movies to be more then turn your brain off and enjoy whatever slob mess there in front of the screen, but what I want is a movie experience that I can look back on and say "Now that, was one heck of a movie."
Oh man, people are deluded if they think this is a great film. Excellent cinematography and action sequences, but it stops right there. No narrative, no acting, no dialogue, and a pretentious soundtrack. I was so disappointed. I had no clue what was going on at any given time, other than the awsome explosions and rad costume design.
Simply awesome and one of the greatest action flicks ever made...bravo George
This movie gives me so much life. I'll never get bored watching it.
Mad Max: Fury Road is a beautifully chaotic display of masterfully executed action sequences with a strong emotional core, and a raw energy unmatched by nearly all of its action genre competition.
This move is like a video game where the space bar, X, or A buttons are involuntarily pressed at all times, thus the audience never sees narrative cut scenes. Those of us who enjoy story aren't even encouraged to care as this movie is one seamless action sequence after the other (with the exception of some brief walking around before the main cast mounts a parade of motorcycles). I'm still left with these questions:
Who is Max? What was he doing just before he was discovered in the desert? Where does he come from? Who and what are the images he keeps seeing? Why does he offer to save the group he has joined only a day earlier? Is he a Messiah? Why is Furiosa attempting to rescue the birthers? Would it not have been easier to escape by herself? How did she come to live so far away from her family? Why does Immortan keep the water so locked up? Because it's dry? Then why on Earth are they wasting enormous quantities of it with a waterfall-esque spigot? How did Immortan come to be the leader of his group? What are his motivations for his power? Why are some of his people albino and others red as the earth? What separates them and makes their struggles unique?
If you're willing to overlook all of these things, then this might be a decent movie. But for as much hype as this movie got, I expected a really great story WITH really great action sequences. Sadly, this is more like a violent children's picture book.
I was excited as a fan of the originals. Played the VHS tapes till death and memorised lines etc. Yes even the third one with Tina Turner in it.
I was very disappointed with this as a movie never mind a Mad Max movie. It would have been better adding slapstick and marketed as a spoof called Miffed Max: Irk Road of displeasure. Many simple little things from the start annoyed me like Max's escape. Super Max? No struggle at all. Also there's a water shortage and I presume food shortage etc... where did all the bodybuilders come from? This stuff is fine in an old exploitation movies but this is supposed to create a somewhat realistic feel of a society suffering. Did I just see someone with botox?Too much CGI. Takes you out the movie and because of the way the action is shot with the CGI it looks like a video game cut scene at times. Sadly that's probably what they wanted. CGI occurs when they didn't even need it. Tacky.
Gibson didn't even have to speak as Mad Max and he did a better job telling us how he felt than the potatoes in this. What is Tom even saying/grunting half the time? He's took the hollywood male gruff voice trend to a new level. Sorry George Clooney you've been beat.
Mad max 2 was shot in a way that the action felt dangerous and gritty, almost as though you part of in it, where this has a standard hollywood staged feel but with more of it. Odd how some extra twirling around and jumping on cars on top of what they already do in movies nowadays is supposed to amaze us. More slumped on the seat than on the edge of it action. Not engaging.
Where is the feeling of isolation in this movie? Not just visually but in the characters? Where are the awesome natural looking visuals? We get overbearing visuals that try so hard to look epic. This movies looks like a screen saver. The characters? Awful. What's going on in this movie anyway? Who cares. It takes forever to get our first bit of suspense between the main charcaters and it's taking a mask off Max. Wooo. Keep it on for Christ's Sake! Even the music sucks during that scene. On the whole this movie crams in as much staged action as possible and hopes you buy into it with the all the hype and positive critical reception. Who did the wardrobe for this, Richard O'Brian on April Fools? Needless makeup at every opportunity... cuz kids love them colourful superhero movies. Even the most ridiculous post apocalyptic movies have better plots. If you're gonna have no plot and loads of action least have some memorable dialogue or a bit of meaningful dialogue. 150! I just watched 150 Millions pounds worth of turd that they couldn't even remotely polish.
Side rant: I knew that Kermode would love this trash. What did he hate about transformers? Lot's ov CGI. Aimed at a specific market. All action shot in a particular style. No plot and loads of explosions to compensate. Couldn't hear anything..... weird he liked this then.
This is so exhilarating. This is a engaging, original, awesome world.
Visual stunning, epic. Love it
I will not waste too much time writing about this garbage of a movie, but I feel like it is my duty to make an attempt at saving someone from seeing this. So quick summary: No story whatsoever (I'm not kidding), terrible dialogue (the few minutes of it there is), terrible "characters" (if you could call them that) and barely passable (very repetitive) action. Honestly, one of the most pathetic excuses for a movie I have ever seen.
This movie is so powerful, amazing!!!I really enjoy the effects, the dialogues, everything. One of the best action movies of all the time.
The movie takes the first half of it to the world-building, and it does that successfully. With a series of events--only minimal dialogue--it shows the kind of apocalyptic world Max lives in. The plot is fairly simple, but the world which plot rests on it is convincing. The war boys culture, resource monopoly, woman objectification, etc. The rest of the movie jams the audience with action-packed scenes while slipping insight into the world through several lines of dialogue and character's behavior.
Some relationship/character-building seem to happen off-screen and seem to be implied, but the progress seems natural that you know something has been going on between them. You can see the development of one of the character where he went from a brash, rash youth to a soft-spoken guy. The last scene seems to put off the suspension of disbelief for a while (on how easy they made the final decision after going on for that long), but it is remedied by the action and the last drama involving one of the supporting character. Very solid composition for a fantasy-action movie.
This whole film is a chase , with some amazing visuals which need to be seen on big screen only. Story is light but the journey is very much worth it: frantic action sequences with the camera recording close to it in a colorful palette.. One of the best action films of 2015!
The first minutes, I was a little skeptical ... But soon, I really enjoyed the beauty of the images! It's definitely something different from previous "Mad Max" ... Something stronger visually! And I do regret only one thing, not having seen on the silver screen! And for the minimalist scenario ... I put -1 point, pity that it is so weak while the rest is pretty good.
Fabulous George Miller !!! One of the best action movie since a long time.Great directing, photography, sound editing and sound mixing. Some impressive work.
It's an OK summer blockbuster. The plot is pretty weak, but if you're looking for non-stop action, special effects and costuming, this would fit the bill. It's not a movie I'd watch again. I know "lots of driving" sounds like an odd criticism, but there is a TON of driving; it's about 95% of the movie. This takes place in Australia unless they changed that from the original, so why doesn't Theron have an accent? As far as I know, international travel doesn't happen in this world. Some of the other accents are extremely weak too, so that's definitely something they should have focused upon a but more.
Loved the Doof Wagon! And Doof Warrior was awesome!
This movie is beautifully shot and the action scenes were intense without dropping in pace or development. The shocking thing in this movie was the immense amount of character development without the use of traditional dialogue and action scenes that are actually worthwhile, makes sense and has a point an extraordinary feat for the action movie standard of the past few decades. Giving the viewer enough information while telling them that this franchise has a rich unexplored history in its lore. Which could spawn a fandom over the next few years when more of this post apocalyptic dystopia is explored. I would not be surprised!Final comment: Great movie MUST WATCH for all movie goers
Going to go against the vastly popular opinion on this one. The originals had this grounded bizarreness to them. Here we have a movie that starts off with the action cranked to 11 and continues all the way to the end without letting up. No character development, no semblance of reality without any grounding. Hardy is no longer the average family man turned hard due to tragic circumstances like Gibson, Hardy is a hard man out of the box. Im pretty sure this entire movies dialog would fit on one page.
Maybe I'm getting old, but I no longer respond to mindless bombast. And this movie is pure bombast and nothing else. I can appreciate the subtext of strong women leading women - nothing wrong with that. But this is supposed to be MAD MAX, not Maxine. Heartbroken.
Amazing action movie. Likely the best action movie of 2010s... and @jeff bahr is right it takes no hostages :)
Everything about this movie is amazing! The soundtrack, the plot, the characters and actors, the special effects. Everything! Loved it.
The perfect action movie. Pure adrenaline the entire time. The visuals are amazing.
This is how it's done. Simply put better than any Mad Max movie that came before it.
The visuals were dope! But I still hated the movie.
Perfect action movie, with the best Tom hardy, Charlize theron you cant just get bored at any moment while watching this !!
Probably the first and only time I've agreed with the phrase "non-stop thrill ride". I don't think I took a breath until the film ended. Fantastic.
Better than original and sequels
Pretty sure Max's blood type is O.
Great action and acting and camera shots and angles. Non-stop action and thrills.
I started watching as a background movie to the work I was doing. within 60 seconds I had but my laptop down and was consumed for the next 2Hrs. you are immediately taken in by the so perfectly done action scenes and encapsulated in the Cinematography.
"Mad Max: Fury Road" marks the return of George Miller to the franchise that launched him into the spotlight.
Tom Hardy replaces Mel Gibson really well in the character of Max Rockatansky, despite Charlize Theron being the star of the film.
George Miller shows in "Mad Max: Fury Road" how to shoot action. There is no "shaky cam", so we can actually see what's happening. The "stunt work" made in "Mad Max: Fury Road" is some of the best ever made in cinema.
In the end, "Mad Max: Fury Road" is one of the best action movies ever made, side by side, with movies like "Die Hard" or "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".
Charlize Theron's acting was superb! Loved her acting in this one. Graphics were great as well, reminds me of the game.
Just beyond fantastic. This movie is a 2 hours non stop chase that doesn't ever feel tiresome. And in the midst of all the spectacular action and bonkers driving you have real and subtle character moments and arks. The use of color is superb and even though every character is deformed, maimed and dirty the film somehow gets to show a beautiful deserted wasteland.
This film was absolutley visually stunning.
Madness, total madness. It is a very good action movie. Not disappointed at all.
I can't get enough, I already seen 3 times already...
This movie is so not like the original and they way they say it was made in Australia is wrong they moved it to south Africa so only Australian production team and make up and director...and what was with the super models in the desert I turned the movie once that happened so wrong from the original
Probably the Best Movie of the Year. Through out the whole movie there wasn't one thing that didn't seem unrealistic in a post apocalyptic world. Then the struggle between Max and Furiosa is great their both supper protective and extremely driven and at first too stubborn to see that they need each other. Just a great movie over all really hoping they do something with it again in the future.
تقع في صحراء واسعة يسيطر عليها العصابات، لكن أثنان من المتمردين يحاولون إرجاع النظام لها بمساعدة شخص قليل الكلام ماكس "المجنون" روكاتانسكي.
The best action movie in years.
Max Rockatansky: Max. My name is Max. That's my name.
Late to watch this, but, im not sure I see the mass appeal.
Visually stunning but for me that's where it ends, the story is quite weak and the dialogue even weaker.
Totally enjoyable though as we await the next big explosion or crazy looking mutant. One viewing is enough, I wouldn't watch it again.
Probably, the best action movie in the last 15/20 years. And it's a movie about women.
My name is Max, PTSD Max.
I have be told that I was not in the right frame of mind when I watched this, and I did not get the point. First off I thought it was a comedy as I could not stop laughing for the first twenty minutes.
After that it plodded along for another hour and a half to the credits. Absolutely nothing original in the story, apart from maybe all the strong female characters. The strong female characters who still fall in love and need saving by the men.
Shots such as:
Furiosa looking at the gear lever when Max is confiscating the weapons in the cab.
Followed by the shot of Furiosa actually taking the knife out to ccheck it just to make it really obvious for the people who could not figure out there was a knife there.
The tracking shot of The Splendid Angharad's full belly showing she is pregnant. You know because we had not figured that out in the previous washing down shot.
I can only assume what I will call 'The Flying Stearing Wheel' shot was there to satisfy those viewing in 3D who need to see things exploding out of the screen.
All in all a long monotonous two hours, the corpse of Mel Gibson's career must be spinning in its grave.
One good thing about the film was Nicholas Hoult, he more than showed he could be the next James Bond.
Movie was quite a show actually. All actors are in their own world and every single one of them can tell their particular story. The colours were fantastic and the vehicles...wow. Tom Hardy, good job once again m8.
enjoyed the movie, although one thing made me grind my teeth: driving through desert and sand storms with engines with no air filters...
Cine Paco: I liked it more than when I saw at the cinema, now in 3D VO. Image, sound and 3D 5/5
"Oh, what a day... what a lovely day!"
Very crazy... Best movie of the 2015
Simply one of -if not the- best action movies in a long time. Both Hardy and Theron give a great performance, and the story is very well thought, it's not another empty action movie. But that doesn't mean it's a boring film, actually it is really entertaining. The thing is that what happens in the film is kind of plausible (in many many years, of course).
Not a big deal of a story, but that is highly compensated with a lot of action. This movie never gets bored and Tom Hardy is doing a really good job as main character.
A well-deserved 8!
great comeback from mad max trilogy by George Miller
Despite the sound mixing being weird/off for dialogue at parts (Tom Hardy/Max), the engine sounds, action sounds are a treat for ears.
This is definitely one of my favourite movies, the excitement doesn't end until the movie ends. Even then, you're still kind of left with a tingly feeling. This is BOMB and it's one of the most exciting films i've ever seen. The cinematography was AMAZING and I had to take screenshots watching it at home because it was too fucking hot, it's like each scene was filmed and tinted with one dominant colour. Cinematography and the actual film itself aside, the way they represented this dystopian world is so unlike anything i've ever seen - some of the stuff is so out there, like the concept of man wanting to be more machine-like and using the V8 symbol as their hangsign. Not to mention the unrealistic use of a plastic bodysuit for Immortan Joe which would be impractical but yet that made the whole movie more exciting. The moment something impractical came into the film, it kind of make me think that cinema can just be explosions and action and stuff that doesn't make sense. Not everything needs to realistically fit to 'fit'. It's out of this world.
You know it's a mad apocalypse when men going to war with a metal band (because what is anarchy without a soundtrack). #realtalk
What a day, what a lovely day!!
best movie in 2015 !
I really hate the over post-produced Batmanish voice they put over Tom Hardy, It was like seeing an old Chinese movie translated. --I'm Batmax-- ...and the exaggerated color filters, but it's a good movie, it's fun and a lot of action, Charlize Theron did an excellent job... still, I love more the old classic Mad Max movies (except Beyond Thunderdome).
good movie I recommended to anyone
Nothing more than great. Great effects, great action, and good story. I regret not having seeing this in the cinema.
That movie was absolutely insane! One of the best action movies this year ! :)
I get why many loves this movie. It looks great, has a lot of action and... and... I've heard that some people think that the story is strong. Really? I'm all for women taking matters in their own hands. I love strong female characters. A movie can be well made but do nothing for me, and a "bad" made movie can be entertaining. For me a great movie, or a movie I love is one that I want to watch again. And lots more times. This didn't make me feel that way. I might watch the trailer(s) again but that's it. Not gonna buy it. For my entertainment it's 2/5 for me. Hate me if you want. Quality wise it definitely gets higher than that though.
What a movie. I hate myself for missing it in 3D in theaters.
a weird action movie, the story is solid, it presents a somewhat original scenario to how our world will end up, but I can't help but say there's something missing.
High on action low on story, that's how I'd describe Mad Max: Fury Road. I was never a fan of the original movies and that didn't change with this reboot. Throwing together all kinds of crazy characters and them having them say the most ridiculous lines doesn't make a good movie. How some of the actors could say some of these lines with a straight face is beyond me. "He's a crazy smeg who eats schlanger!" What?!The Mad Max universe is a post-apocalyptic world that's just too much and has no clear direction. It tries too hard.
And what's up with naming the movie Mad Max and then placing the focus on somebody else? Tom Hardy as Mad Max literally mumbles his way through a few lines in the entire movie and the rest of the dialog goes to Charlize Theron's character Furiosa. The title character is just along for the ride is someone else's movie.A movie that has some (the CGI is shockingly bad for todays standards) great (physical) special effects, but lacks a story.
And where is Mad Max? I spotted only Tina Turner's sick brother...
Why not 10? Max role in the movie is very weak (this is not Max as we know him). Title of the Movie should be "She Max" and then I would rate it 10 :)
what a film, what a lovely film
So fucking good...I love it
This movie is worth the time spended on it
After a tense prologue to set up the film, It takes a little while to adjust to the scenario presented - Max might be Mad, but the world presented is completely nuts and difficult to accept even on its own terms (Some slightly dodgy acting from some of the minor characters doesn't help). But, that all quickly fades once the film sets out into the desert and quickly develops into one very intense chase film. Miller has created some of the most visceral and tense chase sequences in some time, each one different enough to prevent the film from becoming stale. That a lot of the stunts were done for real certainly makes it much more appealing, yet the film wouldn't work if we didn't care about the characters. Hardy as Max is certainly effective, but the real revelation here is Theron's Furiosa, The film is also beautifully shot with some stunning images that make this one of those films worth seeing on the biggest screen possible. The epilogue wraps things up a little too easily, but the thrill here is in the chase and one that is definitely worth taking.
I had no expectations of this movie when I went to see it on cinema. I never saw the original movies (and I don't intend to either), but I must say that I was positively surprised by this one. It was action packed with something happening all the time, so there was really never a dull moment, although I think it was maybe a tad too long with all the back-and-forth. The characters were brilliant and interesting in their own way and let's not forget - completely insane - but in a positive way of course. The sheer amount of creativity poured into the production simply amazes me. Everything fits together perfectly. I'm giving it an 8 simply because I realize that, although it certainly delivers on it's promises, it's just pure (but awesome) entertainment, and I generally expect more from a movie to give it a higher rating.
Oh, and don't bother with 3D, it doesn't add anything to the experience.
Simply the best action movie in years. Light on story, rich in frills and thrills.
Deserves a 10 out of 10 all around and marks above for this kind of movie Maybe the best Mad Max so far and definelywell driven :).Truly remarquable sequel and reboot.I had pretty low expectectations after the trailerand and i was dragged into the theaterAnd i was blown away by this apocalyptic universe and the non stop action sequence. Some 3D effects are cool too.Well played Georges Miller and the team:)
Came in with no expectations and still got more than what I asked for. Quite possibly the best action film I've ever seen; The editing was superb, acting amazing and I loved, loved, loved the plot! Wish there had been a bit more character development and maybe a bit more depth to some of the other characters but all in all a fantastic movie that manages to be merge classic action movie traits and originality.
Came in ready for some meaningless plot and random action film action..... And I got so much more! The characters have actual depth and are portrayed by fantastic actors (besides Charlize Theron being generally amazing, she and Tom Hardy had really great chemistry). Moreover, the editing was marvelous which made the film fast paced yet easy to follow and it looked /so good/. Don't even get me started on costume and set design! After watching this movie I kind of want to get some steampunk gear and blow up cars haha. Really fantastic film, 10/10 will recommend to watch! It was unrealistic yes, but in a way that I didn't mind, like it was unreal on purpose.
