Parker is a typical Statham affair. Not too complex, but not low effort either. Comes off as a violent crime thriller with a little dash of comedy, and ends up as many of Stathams outings...fun but not really memorable.
The acting was mostly decent, and apart from a few things, the story was ok as well. Parker would have been just as good without Jennifer Lopez, though. Not because she was bad, because Lopez was as charming as ever, but the character seemed a bit forced. Especially with the fact that with the code Stathams character lives by, nothing could really have happened between them.
Anyway...there's no need to overanalyze Parker. It is what it is...a decent enough Statham movie. Good for at least one viewing...
Statham Doing What He Does Best - Kick Ass
It is really hard to review this movie without mentioning Mel Gibson's "Payback" from 1999. They are both based on the same series of books with Jason Stathem Playing the titular character played by Mel Gibson in "Payback". Jennifer Lopez is also in this movie and her role feels forced and contrived with relation to the overall plot.
The premise is that the character, Parker, has a crew that turns on him in order to have enough money to prepare for an even bigger score that is lined up. Parker then has to make his way through the criminal underworld to find out what the score is so that he can get his revenge and his money back out of principal.
This is the exact same as "Payback" however the execution is completely different. The pacing of "Parker" suffers from the introduction of Jennifer Lopez's character in an effort to make the movie have elements of a rom-com. After much unneeded screen time she serves the plot by telling Parker where the crew is hiding out and what their target is.
There are a couple of redeeming moments in this movie but they are far and few between. There is not enough action in my opinion to make this a straight up action movie and it lacks the depth of characters to make it anything more. The main characters feel forced into the actions that they perform with little consideration as to why these characters would do what they are doing.
I would not recommend this movie for anyone that wants a solid story or good characters.
A solid movie.
Love this movie! A great Stath picture, completely underrated.

Statham is back and he's in the south with J.Lo. Premise isn't too bad, and his southern accent is hilariously bad but I actually got into it. Go in not expecting much depth and some fun action.
A thief gets betrayed by his crew, and then gets revenge. In the end he ends with 75 million worth of jewelry and he shares it with those who helped him along the way. Your standard action film with nothing that is truly memorable.
bad action movie, it seems like a 90's movie but in 2013
Action straight forward
I liked it, just dont like lopez. Someone needs to tell her she cant act.
Nice straightforward action movie.
Too predictable and Jennifer's dress is NOT hot!

It's been a day or two since I watched this but from what I remember, it was a medium-to-medium-rare ("Rare" being the best) Jason Statham flick. Parts of it felt iffy, and I've never EVER been a fan of Jennifer Lopez; she's eye-candy on the big screen and nothing more...and proves it in this flick. But there are some fights and explosions and testosterone-type stuff so yeah, it's worth watching. I still remember the ending, though, so prolly wouldn't watch it twice.
