Nicholas Cage is usually hit or miss with me on his films. This one actually wasn't bad and was pretty good with the scares.
This was awkward. Awkward because I took a date to see this and it was bad. I couldn't concentrate because I just wanted to nervously laugh. That probably didn't help my enjoyment but it was so cliched and when that wasn't funny, it was boring. I just wanted it to be over.
It is just me or dose Nicolas Cage pull the same face in every poster.
The supernatural thriller Pay the Ghost is a creepy and atmospheric horror film. After a year of searching for his abducted son, college professor Mike Lawford begins to see his son’s spirit reaching out for him and learns that he was taken to a netherworld by a witch. Nicolas Cage and Sarah Wayne Callies lead the cast and give fairly good performances. And the mystery is built up rather well; delivering an interesting backstory for the witch and the legend that surrounds her. Still, the pacing can be kind of slow and the directing is pretty bland. While it’s a little formulaic and the low-budget quality shows through, Pay the Ghost manages to scare up a few chills.
Cage has made some bad movie choices over the years - hello Left Behind and Tokarev - but this is actually pretty good, an interesting story that takes us to some unexpected places. Good music score too.
We really enjoyed it, got scared a few times
It's bad I don't like it :(
Not bad! Love when I rent a horror film that went straight to redbox starring the Cage and it ain't half bad. Might not rec it but I liked it.
