Radioactive 2020

An Oscar-bait movie through and through. The set design and Rosamund Pike's performace are the only things working here. The writing and direction couldn't be more bland.

Marie Curie deserves better than this.

Radioactive is set at the turn of the 19th century and, judging from the amount of melodrama, this was also when the film was made. I only hope the Marie Curie who discovered two scientific elements and won two Nobel prizes was less hysterical and given to histrionics than the poor woman portrayed in this film by the most dangerous kind of actor: the ones with award fever.

I would've liked to write a glowing review of Radioactive, but sadly it's short a few basic elements that would allow it to chart, no matter how periodically.

I believe this would have been better as a limited 6hr series. That would have given us a more detailed more interesting insight into the woman and her life. But as it is the movie rushed over many events in her life and thus I feel it just kind of mudied the movie. But it was certainly interesting. I did learn a bit more about Madame Curie.

Seems like they tried to cram a bunch into a movie run time. And a lot of focus was put on the bad things caused by radiation and giving very little time to the good that had come from it.

It seemed to be done from a male pov, simplifying her life to the disasters that happens in the future and her love life ruining her reputation...it could have been so much better ... She deserves a well-written story. Amazing actress but poor story-telling execution.

Rosamund Pike stars in the Marie Curie documentary Radioactive. Based on a graphic novel, the film follows Marie Curie as she challenges academia, falls in loves, and, with her husband, discovers polonium and radium, winning a Noble Prize. Pike gives an especially strong performance, and is backed by a solid supporting cast that includes Sam Riley and Anya Taylor-Joy. And the storytelling is quite good; creating tension and heightening the drama. Also, the sets designs, costumes, and cinematography are all remarkably well-done. Extraordinarily compelling, Radioactive is a fascinating look at the life of extraordinary woman who expanded the frontiers of scientific knowledge.

An odd movie with a lot of unnecessary elements (hehe) that distract from the story, but overall entertaining.

I like what he tells and how he tells it, those leaps forward to count different uses / accidents of radioactivity. Actors and setting good

Wasn't very good. Plus the political commentary was not needed.

Better than the reviews I have read. While it's not always enthralling, the flash forward consequences of Curies work gave the film extra momentum.

I was expecting so much more from this movie, I was disappointed.

The average rating of the last four movies I watched that contained Pike is five. So despite the fact I was really interested in the topic I wasn't expecting much. Somehow she kills every character she plays. And not in a positive way. Either that or those characters really were all annoying.
As for the movie itself, it is visually ok. It is also rather blunt, as you learn little about the science and/or the person. Of course this isn't a history book but even reading the article on wiki has more content and was more exciting then watching the movie. Instead of trying to put basically her whole life into 110 min of film, maybe they should have focused on one aspect of her life.
And the outlooks into the future from the movie's point in time are somewhat pointless as you don't really need that reminder. The technology itself is never good or evil. It's our intention of what we are planing to do with it.
