Great film. A masterpiece that will be passed down forever, like Tolstoy's "War and Peace". However, it felt a bit long to me. I got tired. Still, I can't name all the great filmmakers who were inspired by this film. Spielberg, Coppola, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, etc.
The original title of the film is Shichinin no Samurai.
All the others comments can to talk much better than mine, but I really like Toshiro Mifune character. He's great all the scenes where he are, my favorite is "that baby is me!" on the watermill burning
This is a masterpiece and my favourite movie alongside Rashomon. A true masterpiece, a true movie. Really love it. I do not add anything else, watch the movie and you will be satisfied!
Probably my favorite classical film. A milestone for cinematography and story telling.
Don't be afraid of the long running time and the long introduction of the characters in the first act. It all pays off in the end.
An awesome epic, which is very impressive for the time. The first half is kind of a slow burn, but never boring. When the Samurai arrive at the village the movie picks up and gives us an epic conclusion in the end. Kikuchiyo is easily the best character, but the other characters all well developed as well. Also, Japanese man butts everywhere!
It's a wonderful, shocking movie and probably my favorite in Japanese cinema. There's probably not another movie I can think of whose runtime is as justified--here, the 3+ hours we get to spend fly by, even though most of the movie is not spent in action sequences. Instead, the movie devotes time and space to characterization, to the slow build-up of logistical preparation, and to quiet moments for the characters that are far more memorable than the (more than adequate) action bits at the end. It's too big, in some ways, to absorb in one sitting and it's one I'd like to return to at least once more.
It's easy to see that this film had a big impact on other movies.
The way Kurosawa builds a shot is just beautiful.
When I was young, this is the film that taught me subtitled long b&w foreign films can be absolutely magical. This is forever on my list of favorites. Cinematic perfection.
I wonder why it has so good ratings? It is just 3,5 hours of goofy fight scenes. So boring and gringy to watch
I loved this classic movie. It is epic and well worth watching for any lover of classic cinema. Don't be afraid of the length. I enjoyed listening to the music during the intermission while filling my popcorn bowl. And the English subtitles worked just fine. It would not worked dubbed, so I am glad that they did not dub the movie.
I was prepared to pay to watch the film, but was able to watch this movie for free during trial subscription at https://hdfy.to/

Seven Samurai can only be described as magical piece of art.
Don't let the 210 minute tag on the movie scare you. It is worth the ride and experience.
Each samurai has a distinguished trait which makes them memorable and allows the audience to form a bond with them
The cinematography is simply outstanding especially when it comes to the scenes that include rain.
An easy to comprehend plot with thrilling action scenes is also what adds to the appeal of Seven Samurai.
Depicts the Japanese culture and relation between Samurai and Farmers in the 1600s.
Memorable movie quotes:
* This is the nature of war: By protecting others, you save yourselves. If you only think of yourself, you'll only destroy yourself.
* Danger always strikes when everything seems fine.
