All the times hollywood made film adaptations of the first instalment of a beloved young adult book series except the film was so poorly received that they gave up on adapting the rest of the books despite foreshadowing and cliffhangers in the first film.

Friends to lovers is a key plot element and the movie/show centres on the romance.
(So e.g. action or other genre movies with a small subplot on this subject are not included here)
