Lets say so.... It isnt as great as the first one... But its still a good sequel... Its just the ending thats a bit crappy
Much better that part 3. Neeson is still bad ass and this is more like part 1 than part 3 was.
They just needed to stop trying to kid us by trying to put over Maggie Grace (Lost) as a teenager.
Though not as good as the first movie, it was still a great movie. The story is similar to the first one, but somehow very different, which is great :)
Some (unimportant) things are not logical, but who cares ;)
liked it... but it was a bit weak in the end.. mehh =( overall a good movie
Maggie Grace was AWESOME on this
just an average action Movie; maybe a bit to small. Not has good has the 1st one, but doesn't really ruin it either.
The first movie was a schlocky action movie with an incredibly basic but decent enough plot and the famous meme line. This one was just a laughably stupid movie.
Two highlights were how all the bad guys patiently waited for Bryan to call his daughter and tell her to hide before they beat him up. Second was throwing grenades in a crowded city to try and pinpoint a location, because there is no fucking way in hell that would work even remotely close to how it was depicted lmao.
The first one is good, this is ok for the story as a sequel and the things that happen, but here the EDITING made my eyes hurt. :eyes::gun: There are so many CUTS in the fight scenes that it makes them unwatchable. I get that it's to hide bad scenes but just skip them already idk make it all black it's better. No wonder that John Wick got a huge success by making clean clear fight scenes. It's an action movie goddammit, you have one job!
Not as good as the first one, still a good watch.
Not impressive as the first one... I thought I was going to like the antagonist, but the character is not properly utilized...this happened to all the characters.. lets be honest the story was as generic as it gets.... always loved to see Liam on screen...this could have been a much better film if it was properly directed....
To be teaken once is unfortunate but twice is just carelessness
Bad representation of Istanbul and Middle East
“When you commit to something... You focus all your energy there. Like a dog with a bone.” — the analogy is extraordinary but very clear.
“When you give, it's 100 percent of 100 percent. If I was on to something, it was just that thing. Even though I tell myself I should change... I could never give it up.”
More of the same, just less effective. Cheap, safe, feelgood action. If you're looking for cinematic junkfood, that you can turn your brain off for, you should enjoy it okay.
good sequel for the first one which was great, i just didn't like the ending!
The original Taken was a no-nonsense kick-ass romp through Paris. Some eejit thought it would make a good franchise so they had to come up with a premise for a sequel, despite the first film wrapping up quite nicely.
Guess what? This time Liam and his wife get Taken and his daughter has to find him. She does this by throwing grenades off rooftops at one point. Great stuff…
This is just a mess. The story is again weak, but this time they decide to linger on the build-up for AGES. There’s half an hour of clunky foreshadowing in a film that is barely 90 minutes long.
If you like shitty confusing action mixed with bland characters and a lack of anything happening, Taken 2 might be right up your alley. Otherwise, give it a miss.

La encontré mucho mejor que la primera parte! Aunque el final sigue siendo poco creíble
So much better on the second watch through, especially if watching the extended edition. Much better than I remember when seeing it in the cinema. Much happier with giving this an 8/10. Solid film, worthy sequel. Maybe not as good as the first but still a genuinely decent Liam Neeson film.
Good movie. Liam Neespn.
Liam Neeson in the lead with a script by Luc Besson (Taken, Transporter 1, 2, and 3, Taxi, Fifth Element, Leon the Professional, and many more) should guarantee that the movie will be worth watching. So much so that Taken 3 is already in the works, as is Transporter 4, 5, and 6.
But, we have to aware that this is a sequel to a very entertaining film. Will it be able to recreate the magic? So many sequels just don't have the ability to recreate the excitement of the first film. It's like your first girlfriend - you will always remember her.
At least Famke Janssen gets a much meatier part in the sequel. I have been watching her in Hemlock Grove, and she deserves more time on the screen. She is a good actress.
The first film was much more believable. Neeson may have played an expert, but he really stretched it in the sequel. Fortunately for him, all the bad guys were terrible shots, or we wouldn't get a Taken 3.
There were a couple of good chase scenes, but most of the action occurred towards the end, and it ended way before I thought it would.
I agree, not as good s the first. Still better than a lot of other action movies.
It was alright, but if you've seen the first one - you may as well have seen this too.
Pointless and nowhere near as good as the first one.
Away far from the first one.
Ha! At the beginning the daughter is making her driver license. It was crystal clear that she gonna drive in the movie again. Like hell I might add.
And it was soooo annoying as he always said: "Go. Drive. Faster!" And she: "I can't! I can't!
Well. Repeating that about 20 times? Hahaha!
The movie was okay, I guess. Many action scenes, some nice pictures from the roof-tops, nothing surprising in this movie.
spoiler alert: its what you expected... liam neeson has a particular set of skills... AGAIN!
@muratbiskin: Yeah, I was actually in Istanbul during the shooting and I must say IPD has some bad ass cars nowadays.
I'm confused about the bad guy(s) tho, most of the time he speaks in English, some times in Turkish and some other times in Portuguese(!)... WTF?
From the moment “Taken 2” was announced, every movie fan knew that this sequel will not be at the level of the original. Guess what?…we were right. “Taken 2” has a very predictable story and a very dissapointing Transporter like-style (Thanks to the new director) but even after all that we still want to see the whole film. Liam Neeson does a great job of dragging us in and making sure we care at least about something. From the great locations to the action, “Taken 2” still had something to watch..but the excitement and suspense from the original Taken, can’t be duplicated. “Taken 2” is good in its own, bu not compare to the original. Still a good film to check out when bored..
The Taken 2 alternative ending is definitely better than the theatrical cut version IMHO.
FYI, for those with the theatrical cut and alt. ending from US iTunes, the alternative ending starts at 57:22 in the theatrical cut and then can be followed on by the epilogue ("Three Weeks Later") at 1:23:05 of the theatrical cut . . . if you'd prefer to watch it with the alt. ending.
I have to agree with the comments that this sequel doesn't match the first movie, but as long as you don't go in expecting too much, it is a mildly entertaining way to spend an hour and a half. If you have seen the first Taken, just remember, almost all sequels never match their predecessors.
I don't know what to say about this movie...
I liked the first part, because it was a somewhat dark movie and it had certain suspense throughout the whole thing...
Part 2 missed most of it. The brutality was notched down (imho), the enemies were just plain stupid (ALL the time) and I disliked the theatrical ending... The alternative ending was a bit better, but still no good match to the first part. (Theatrical ending is motivated by rescueing his wife, while the alternate endings motivation is revenge...)
As muratbiskin noted (in other words), everything was pure cliché... Like Istanbul is some sleazy city... Spontaneaously I can't even remember ONE shot of Istanbuls skyline... I think the writer had a certain image in his mind... But it is not the modern Istanbul, but I it sounds (and looks) rather like a desert city before the oil prosperity... Rundown.
This movie was average and certainly not as good as the first! I want to know how Bryan got out of the Embassy after crashing through the front gates. Could is simply be his old CIA connections; must be.
like it
Pretty weak overall, not comparable to the first one.

I don't know why everyone is bagging this i thought it was great. i think people were expecting way too much from it. ofc it's not going to reach the heights of the original but it was still a great watch.
