Tango & Cash 1989

Solid 80s buddy cop movie. Funny back-and-forth, one-liners, etc that mark the genre. It hasn't aged particularly well as you'd expect.

Both Stallone and Russell are good. Stallone playing way against type at that time in his career. It was a good move for him.

It had the potential for becoming a Lethal Weapon-style franchise but was just a year or so late coming to the table.

Now 6.25/10
Then 7.25/10

Ah, good old 80s action cinema - tough guys, big guns, cool quotes, explosions and a wee bit of a story. But that´s OK. That was the recipe for success back then.

Tango & Cash really isn't anything but it is really fun. Watching Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone trade jabs is really fun. There is a pretty thin storyline here and the characters are pretty weak but that's really not what you're looking for when you watch a film like this. The action is still fun and the amount of comedy is surprising. Tango and Cash is an enjoyable cheese fest.

Rewatched this to make my copy was good to go for next week's tvT get together. No need to explain here in detail why this movie is so awesome, I think we all know it's a must watch. So do that. Then go listen to the Flop House episode on it and then the HDTGM on it. Although the HDTGM team dud not love it as much as they should have.

Feels like a macho violent video game that would made today. It would probably work more as a video game. I would love every second of it too.
As a movie it’s more fun than it got credit for. Though it has nothing on John Carpenter films Kurt Russell starred in that decade. Tango & Cash is better than some 80’s movies Stallone did though, like Cobra.

Oh yeah, this movie has it all. Action, explosions, car chases, an Englishman bad guy with a ponytail and bad Australian accent, all set to 80’s soundtrack. I’ve definitely seen similar films that are more fun but this one was pretty good as long as you’re able to turn your brain off and have some laughs along the way.

"Rambo? Rambo's a pussy."

Kurt Russell's mullet is on game in Tango & Cash! And I always thought the final acts had a monster truck in it. Don't know why but might have been that the last time I saw this film was when I was 15? So that's 17 years ago.

Anyway Robert Z'Dar's chin still rocks, I love the way Sly dresses and he is a cop and a stock broker. Kurt Russell is still great as Cash and rocks that dress. Teri Hatcher can dance and massage! The Prison escape was fun. The guns Russell uses are so damn big. That James Bondeque car?!? Love it! The ending with the bromance even better! And Jack Palance as Perret what can I say?

Andrei Konchalovsky's Tango & Cash is a fun 80's Buddy Cop movie that will not fail to entertain you. It might be critically bad but we all joined Letterboxd to have fun and not be film snobs right?

This isn't a film that needs to be over analysed but I have to say if you want to watch an 80s cheese-fest then look no further than Tango and Cash which is definitely one of the best buddy cop films from this era, this is definitely because of Sylvester Stallone (Tango) and Kurt Russell (Cash) who you can tell are just having fun with this film and I promise you will have fun.

Does this film do anything to make it spectacular.........no but if you grab some popcorn and turn off your mind you'll have some great fun with some great one-liners.

Really wished they did more films set in this universe because Stallone and Russell are so good together and though I think Lethal Weapon is a lot better, I think this film is funnier and definitely deserves your time.

"Rambo... is a pussy."

This movie is so ridiculous and if it were anyone else playing the main leads, it would be so bad. Luckily, Stallone and Russell have such great chemistry, I wish they had done other films together as buddies.

Years without seeing it, eighties action movie that has not lost its charm thanks to its actors. When the shocks and explosions were real and not CGI.
Young Teri Hatcher and a young Glenn Morshower acts as a police officer, who unexpected :-)

If you take all of the 80s action cliches and put them into just one movie....you get Tango & Cash. And that is just why I love it...

Yes...it's kind of stupid, and it's way over the top....even for the 80s, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. Big explosions, vehicular combat, daring prison escapes, and a lot more. Everything you need from an action flick!!!

If you like the 80s brand of action, this is a no-brainer. Watch and enjoy!!!

The movie is good to spend 1.5 hour.
But I don't know what it is, something is missing in this movie. Maybe in story maybe in action scenes maybe characters. Such as returning the police job not shown enough.
