this one was really awesome. dont know why the negative ratings. of course i know everyone has a different taste, but whats bad here? for me its one of the best found footage horror movies. its pretty well made, interesting to watch, its completly creepy all the way, has some gore and sometimes scary. definitely disgusting. i liked it a lot.
5/10
This Movie could have been bloody awesome
If they would have shown you what they
was talking about and alluding to.
I'm all for
"Show and Tell"
This was the main problem I've just had
as of yesterday with the newly released
Hellraiser 2022
which was an absolute disappointment by the way.
The only reason
The Bay even qualified to make it into
My Multiverse Archives
In the first place was solely because Jason Blum produced it and I am a sucker for all things BlumHouse. If not for Jason this movie would not be looked at twice, their is much much better of these types with a solid plot, great characters and those movies also
treat you with every visual aspect under the sun.
Right now it's time to get serious with
Texas Chainsaw
Massacre 2022
(which is frickin
awesome an easy
10/10), as I'm hoping "Halloween Ends"
Is as well, released this October 14th 2022.
Don't people ever get tired of being spoon fed the same dreck over and over again!?! "The Bay" is yet another attempt to preach environmentalism. Its got all you'd expect from a propaganda film. Crooked politicians, inept public servants, uncaring, greedy corporations...my god, does it get anymore run-of the-mill?!? If you want to make a point or call your audience to take action, could you come up with something just slightly unique? Anything...anything that hasn't been done thousands of times before?
The heavy-handed message here is clumsily couched in what is the latest and most tiring trend in Horror movies. Yes, it's another found footage film. And from a relatively respected director in Barry Levinson, no less.
There was nothing scary here at all. The best you'll get is a few jump scares (which are not scary at all, just cheap) and a few gross-out moments. I would have appreciated the slightest bit of characterization, but it's not found here. All I really did was scoff at the predictability of it. It should come as no surprise that the 'Top Critics' have awarded this turd a 76% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In reading many of their critiques, phrases like "though-provoking" and "should appeal to genre fans and eco-activists" are used. Really?!? For this rehashed piece of junk?
Thankfully, it appears that the 'Audience' has not fallen for it. They rate "The Bay" at only 44%.
sadly it is full of dumb decisions after dumb decisions. If you like that kind of movie then this is for you. I felt like it was wasting my time so I only watched half of it. You gotta have at least one character you can identify with, and you can't identify with him because he's such a total idiot.
pre-2020 i used to think these kinds of movies vastly overstated the us government's incompetence but now i'm just like ah what accuracy!
On the positive side, it's really horrifying and triggering. I don't know think I will go near any sea after this. However this film was underwhelming and out of the place. If someone like Donna Thompson exposing this outbreak, I wouldn't believe her at all because her acting is so fake and annoying!!
The director of Good Morning Vietnam, Rain Man, and (my personal favorite) Diner does a found footage eco-horror film? Are you kidding me!?
All the scarier because the scenario isn't all that far fetched, this tiny Jaws will leave its marks...
Pretty ridiculous science and a forced environmental tone. Horror isn't even a primary focus.
I really enjoyed this movie; not your typical horror movie because it was not based on zombies or a disease mutated by nature. It really shows us how corruption and bureaucracy works to get us screwed in the butt. Our ecosystem is very fragile and we are ruining it by allowing economy to rule our lives.
No vale la pena verla
Scary? No. Boring? Yes, yes and yes
Found footage format for breaking, independent new directors and writers? Yes. Great. Found footage format for established directors and producers? NO. Knock it off!
Aside from that, this is not scary. It is incredibly boring and the premise is ridiculous. Stay away.
Wasn't really scary. Really disgusting and just boring.

I’m a found footage simp but this was so lame. The concept was somewhat interesting, had potential to be very interesting, however ended up being the longest video essay YouTube video I’ve ever seen.
No really - found footage isn’t even what I’d really call this. It’s a stitched together “documentary” style narrative that has no characters, no real running plot, but instead just a variety of news clips and cell phone videos hoping the “mystery” will carry it.
It doesn’t!
