The Choice 2016

I had fun watching this movie, especially when Travis gets punched in the jaw but bleeds from the nose, and when Gabby's dog, the golden retriever, gives birth to three adult chihuahuas.
Oh, the accuracy!

Typical Nicholas Sparks, you can see everything coming a mile away. Your gf will love it but it's not one of his best.

Too melodramatic film, I expected the typical love story. Too much drama for me. Dogs are the best of the movie without a doubt.

i actually genuinely enjoyed the first half of this film but then the rest…??? her breaking up with him for literally no reason. zero. and then the whole post-marriage storyline? the movie could’ve just been normal and ended right there and then. weird and unnecessary but oh well, at least it was worth it in the end.

very female-gaze coded tho, especially everything ben walker was doing. slay.

Another ”easy to watch” love story…

Melodramatic tripe, The Choice is yet another insipid romance film based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. The story follows a small town veterinarian who falls in love with his new next door neighbor, a nurse in-training who’s dating a doctor. It’s an incredibly formulaic and painfully predictable plot, and the characters are all pretty one-dimensional. Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer do have some chemistry together, and there are some nice supporting performances by Maggie Grace, Alexandra Daddario, and Tom Wilkinson. But overall, The Choice is a rather rote and unimpressive film.

okay i usually don't review movies, but oh my god this movie got the book so wrong. and i don't mind little changes, but the energy has to be consistent and it wasn't. like usually the movies based on nicholas sparks books are a little better or at least just at the same level as the books. but in the book gabby and travis ACTUALLY like each other which i thought was refreshing considering how many books of his i've been forcing my way through that have couples who just fight and don't seem to like each other but somehow it's True Love. and in the movie they're just like all those other couples it was very disappointing. and it's definitely not teresa palmer's fault bc i've liked her in other things and idk about the actor 'cause i'd never heard of him, but like the characters were written SO ANNOYING. i mean admittedly i got mad at them in the book for the whole affair but otherwise they were likable characters and in the movie they so so so were not

Big mistake wasting movie night on this. Cringe worthy from start tup finish.

While I am not the target audience for this film, I still chose to view it as I wanted something undemanding to watch. I made the right choice as it was undemanding, but I also made the wrong choice as the film was quite poor. Benjamin Walker struggled as a romantic lead, the dialogue was mediocre and the story predictable. For some people this is the perfect choice. For me, it was a bad one but we all make bad movie choices once in a while.

This movie was such an eye roll. Super predictable and cliched. I tend to love the movies based off of Nicholas Sparks's books. But this one is up there as the second worst one out of all of them.
Plus, Noah built Allie a whole gigantic house, so a measly gazebo falls kinda short, don't you think?
