The original title of the film is Män Som Hatar Kvinnor.
Loved the extended version, superior than the remake…
Based on the acclaimed novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a provocative noir thriller. The story follows disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist as he turns to a computer hacker in order to help him investigate the 40-year-old case of the disappearance/murder of a wealthy tycoon’s granddaughter. The film does a particularly good job at creating an air of mystery, and at building suspense and tension as the investigation unfolds. The dark themes in the material are also handled impressively well. Additionally, Noomi Rapace gives an extraordinary performance that carries a sense of ambiguity and danger. While deeply disturbing, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a compelling film that’s full of thrills.
the movie is entertaining and interesting to watch
The films story is very exciting and puzzling (for those that haven't read the book) and the pace is steady with some really tense situations. The investigation part of the story is excellent. Although it is 2.5 hours long it is never boring. A captivating piece of cinema!
This is a great film. The whole trilogy is excellent.
I love the book and I love the film. Just amazing.
Waited 12 years to watch this and I was really looking forward to it. But I can't remember the last time I was this bored wat hing a movie.
It's a good enough detectivey thriller.
great neo-noir. just thought the last act was a bit weak, especially the soap-like ending
Rather brutal for a thriller: there are raping scenes as well as some rather disturbing conversations. The flick tells the story of Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander who investigate the disappearance of Harriet Vanger 40 years ago.
Good acting, but I found the movie too boring and even too sick. I haven't read the book, so I don't have a comparison, but I had a hard time paying attention to the film
The book was much better, so much different this movie.
Reading the books ASAP !
The book is so much better, but is a great movie!
This movie far exceeded my expectations. I'm not keen on reading subtitles so we opted for the English dubbed version. If you like mysteries, this movie is for you. I must warn though there is a very graphic rape seen.

As I haven't read any of the Stieg Larsson books I can't judge how well the adaption to screen was handled, but as a movie in it's own right, it is really, really good. Very dark and brutally upfront, which make some scenes really hard to watch, so definitely not suited for everybody.
But if you like a well constructed plot and mystery, this one stays interesting and suspenseful until the end.
In my opinion, this movie should be watched in Swedish with subtitles, as the Swedish actors are delivering a spot on performance.
