The Academy Award for Best Sound is an Academy Award that recognizes the finest or most euphonic sound mixing, recording, sound design and sound editing and is generally awarded to the production sound mixers, re-recording mixers and supervising sound editors of the winning film. In the lists below, the winner of the award for each year is shown first, followed by the other nominees. Prior to the 93rd Academy Awards, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing were separate categories.[1]

For the second and third years of this category (the 4th Academy Awards, 5th Academy Awards) only the names of the film companies were listed. Paramount Publix Studio Sound Department won both years.

Family films are a genre that aim to appeal not only to children, but to a wide range of ages.
While the storyline may appeal to a younger audience, there are components of the film that are geared towards adults- such as witty jokes and humor. This genre may fall into many other genres including: comedy, adventure, action, fantasy, Sci-Fi, animation & more.
For older kids some films & TV shows are great to watch together, especially those centered around family values.

The Motion Picture rating industry the past few years has been designating PG-13 to films that at one time would of been rated for a mature audience.
It is suggested that you research a movie before hand, including the comments under each movie on TRAKT
HERE IS A CHART:
The Motion Picture Association (MPA) film rating system used in the United States:
‘G’ – General Audiences -All ages admitted. Nothing that would offend parents for viewing by children.
‘PG’ – Parental Guidance Suggested -Some material may not be suitable for children. Parents urged to review "parental guidance". May contain some material parents might not like for younger children.
‘PG-13’ – Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Parents are urged to be cautious. Some material may be inappropriate for pre-teenagers.
‘R’ – Restricted - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.
‘NC-17’ – Adults Only - No One 17 and Under Admitted. Clearly adult. Children are not admitted.
'Not Rated (NR)' - If a film has not been submitted for a rating or is an uncut version of a film that was submitted, the labels Not Rated (NR) or Unrated (UR) are often used.
