They just don´t make movies like this anymore.
A very good thriller if one considers the quite simple setting of the plot (a hostage negotiator is forced to take hostages himself to prove his innocence). I think if the betrayal had been staged in a bigger proportion (instead of stealing some money from the pension funds, something much bigger could have be imagined for the misdeeds of the corrupt police men) it would have help the movie a lot and would have made it much more gripping for the audience.
I find it hard to believe that the conspiracy isn't more people: at least one of the police chief and the SWAT leader.
First movie of its type. But still predictable...
Started out interesting and I like the premise but overall it fell a bit flat to me, felt more like a generic action movie to me and I feel like it wasted some potential.
Samuel L. Jackson is amazing as ever ofcourse.

The Negotiator is an intense thriller with Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey delivering incredible performances as two negotiators caught in a high-stakes hostage situation. The tension and suspense are evident throughout the film, with twists and turns that will keep you hooked. The script is well-written, the direction is top-notch, and the supporting cast is excellent.
The ending of the Recurit is very similar to this film
One of the all-time classics. Can't go wrong with this film, just perfect
Absolutely love this movie it's a Classic.
The premise has been done many times before, but the cast is very good.
