The Rhythm Section 2020

Aside from one great car chase this was dull and boring. Not enough action or an interesting story.

Flat out boring, predictable and not engaging.

I can't think of another movie that had a protagonist acting that stupid. Look at me I'm the big bad assassin but I survive on pure luck instead of even an ounce of skill. After she failed to kill the the second guy I lost all interest. The story isn't very original to begin with, even considering this was written at the end of the 1990s.

I understand this is based on a book series but I hope after this they won't be tempted to do another one.

What a waste of time. You couldn't
pay me to watch that movie again. Boring , stupid and useless waste of time

This movie is a mess from beginning to end - don't waste your time with it. It's neither an action movie (other than the car chase which was a bit lame) or a thriller. It just plods along to a predictable end - and the prospect of a second one. 4/10

So good. What all those small woman seeks revenge movies could have been.

This movie was not bad at all. I liked it. Blake Lively is great in the role and it‘s really cool to see her doing these kinds of films. The storyline is interesting enough to keep you watching and the movie is also quite international which is always nice.

I applaud Blake Lively's performance in this movie. She continues to grow as an actress. She tries to fit in several types of character, and she does it well!!
However, about the movie, it's a bit boring and the trailer summed up almost all the action on it. That's why I'm a bit disappointed with this.

Blake Lively gets to play an unlikely action hero and pulls it off quite well. She seems to understand where the belief level begins starts from there, and goes slowly as she levels up for some reason, I found The Rhythm Section to be well-done, even if the film doesn't feel as complete nor as captivating as the trailer seemed to indicate. However, I continue to applaud Blake Lively, who has great taste in projects, and always takes on new and challenging roles each time out. Visceral camera work, a few nice twists, and a great lead performance saves The Rhythm Section. It's an acceptable spy thriller.

Still one of the most underrated action films around. Its undoing, perhaps, is that it spurns choreographed fantasy in favour of grit and verisimilitude. The car chase and knocks will long remain a favourite of mine - beautifully staged and shot. This movie deserves more praise and viewing.

A movie quick to misunderstand and underrate. While the trend is towards over-the-top women-led action flicks, Reed Morano is attempting something a little edgier and grittier. And the action sequences work brilliantly in that light. Reminded me of 1981's 'The Amateur'.

Very bad. They should’ve marketed it as a spoof. Because it really is.
They put as many Hollywood cliches in it as they could.
The story is ridiculous and the lead character is totally impossible.

Man I had high hopes for this movie. Trailer looked good, then I watched it and was disappointed! Birth if an assassin?! My ass! She gets her ass kicked all the time barely survives all her encounters. Then at the end makes it seem she had it all worked out. Can't fight, can't shoot, trade craft is shit Jude Law puts her in the field anyways Riiiiiiight! Then to top it all she can't kill think I she kills 2 people through out the whole movie by luck.

4 out 10 and I'm being generous

IF you want to watch a real birth of an assassin go watch American Assassin that's at least worth the time.

one of my favorite genres, you killed my family and I will take revenge, although I'm not good at it. It has been good, but it takes its time and repeats the flasbacks a lot. Few action scenes

It's hard to watch this film and not feel like it's a 2020 take on Nikita.

Blake Lively puts in a good performance but that's no surprise as she's a fine actor. The plot comes from a novel which I'm sure reads well and keeps the reader on their toes. As a film though, it's a little by-the-numbers.

The plot is slow enough to build the characters but the script doesn't. Therefore, a faster pace could have covered that up but then it's feel like Taken.

So I'm pointing the finger at the script aa the weak link.

I came away wanting to watch Haywire again - another flawed gritty spy film but at least the action made up for its other shortfalls.

6.25/10

(interesting that EON produces this outside of their Bond franchise. It could have been a big hit had it had more action and more sceipt work, enough to play as a female Bourne or as a genuine Nikita-inspired pastiche)

Despite sharing the producers of the Bond franchise, this is not a female version of those films. It's not an action-fest and there are no stunts to speak of, so some will be disappointed if that is what they expected. However, there are some good moments, with the occasional thrill here and there. Its not a great film - I don't think there will be a sequel - but its not the borefest that others are calling it.

It's a really boring and predictable movie.

It's not the most imaginative revenge movie but it is certainly watchable. Blake Lively's performance alone makes it worth a look-see.
