Studio Ghibli, Inc. (株式会社スタジオジブリ) is a Japanese animation film studio based in Koganei, Tokyo, Japan. The studio is best known for its anime feature films, and has also produced several short films, television commercials, and one television film. It was founded in June 1985 after the success of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), with funding by Tokuma Shoten.

All anime released from December 1 of the year before the festival to November 30 of the current year in Japan become candidates. The anime that best represents the category it was nominated in is chosen as the winner of that category.
In the first year of the celebration, the award was given to Spirited Away as 'Grand Prix'. In the second year, there was no Animation of the Year award; therefore, the 'Best Entry Awards' in the 'Notable Entries' are often recognized as 'Grand Prix', they were: Millennium Actress (film), Hanada Shōnen-shi (TV) and Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze (OVA)
Since 2014, Tokyo Anime Award Festival has given an Anime of the Year Grand Prize in two categories, Film and Television.

This list contains absolutely all the movies made by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, from the oldest to the newest.
• The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) has been co-written/directed by Hayao Miyazaki, hence its righteous place within this list.
• Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) is a pre-Ghibli movie, very often considered as a Ghibli one, it was produced one year before the foretold studio creation (1985). Still, being written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, it belongs to this list.
• Ocean Waves (1993) doesn't always appears in Ghibli collection, because it's a movie produced for TV. As said by this quote from Wikipedia: "Ocean Waves was an attempt by Studio Ghibli to allow their younger staff members to make a film reasonably cheaply. However, it ended up going both over budget and over schedule."
• All other titles are officially produced under Ghibli, which automatically include them in this list (pretty self explanatory)
