Australian 4WD Action has always brought you the best-value magazine you can buy, but this issue we're stepping it up a notch! Along with our regular full DVD, this month we're delighted to present a second feature disc. When Toyota gave us the opportunity to take a couple of brand-new 200 series LandCruisers on an extended test anywhere we wanted, we naturally jumped at it! So, how did they fare? You'll have to watch the DVD to find out! Of course, we've got all our regular features this month, including three standout custom trucks. The first could possibly be the thickest GQ Patrol we've ever seen, and powered by a turbo'd and worked petrol engine! Then there's an ultra-neat 80 Series that's been cut and customised into an extra-cab ute, and an XJ Cherokee that loves to go rock-crawling. Then jump in with Roothy for part two of our Best 4WD of 2008 trip, as he pits last months winner, the Patrol, against the newcomer 200 Series to see who reigns supreme off-road. And for the first time, the results will be entirely up to you! Will you be able to correctly pick Best 4WD of 2008? Glenn once again gets his hands dirty showing you some great money-saving DIY tips, and Shaun is back with another tips and techniques segment. Terry Smith joins us with some great tips on tyre maintenance, and we visit the ARB factory to take a look at how they put together their popular Old Man Emu suspension. Phew - you couldn't pack more features into a decked out 4WD, and you might just need one to bring this issue in from the mailbox!

For us 4WDers, holiday time means packing the 4WD, hitching up the trailer and heading away from civilisation. Instead of theme parks and five-star hotels, we look for national parks and million-star skies. And that's exactly where Roothy's gone this month! Join him on a tour of Outback Queensland - his home and the place that Milo's made for. Once you're done dreaming about where to go, check out three awesome 4WDs that will take you there! First up, we've got a highly modified Disco' 3 from WA that proves pedigree trucks don't mind getting dirty. Then there's Russell Sturzaker's Outback-proven Mitsubishi Pajero customised to tackle every track out there. And for those of you who like taking the harder road, we check out an awesome 80 Series with all the fruit. Heading away but have nowhere to store your gear? We take an in-depth look at roof-racks and how to make sure your gear stays on the top of your truck. We revisit the Tassie trip from last year, as Glenn's reunited with the ill-fated Prado and shown what had to be replaced. And while we're at it, we show you how to save money by installing your own diff breathers. And of course, we've got Roothy's infamous cooking to get your mouth watering - not one, but two recipes this time! Australian 4WD Action - it's the show that would rather be off-road right now.

Roothy's off again! This time, to the Snowy Mountains to take in the natural beauty of Mt Kosciuszko National Park in the new 45 Series ute. The area is full of amazing history, breathtaking scenery and challenging 4WDing, and Roothy's been raving on about it since he got back, so make sure you don't miss it! If custom trucks are more your thing, then we've got a show for you. First up is a sensational blood-red Series 1 Discovery that's built to tackle the High Country tracks. Then we jet up to Sydney to check in with the owner of an ultra-neat solid-axle 100 Series, who has turned a hand-me-down into a try-and-hold-me-back! For the fans of hardcore 4WDing, we check in with an awesome old Cherokee complete with a big-block V8 and massive rubber. If you've ever considered getting your spare wheel up from under the floorpan, then this month Editor Glenno's got the DIY for you. Check in with him as he builds a rear wheel carrier for the steel bar he knocked up last month. Then we check in on the Mickey Thompson Tyre Tips to get the real low-down on what difference a good set of tyres can make to a vehicle. And, of course, there's Roothy's cooking and more tips and techniques than you can shake a Panhard rod at. All this in Australian 4WD Action - the show that's constantly keeping the neighbours awake until 2am with the welder and grinder.

With both his beloved trucks off the road this month, Roothy takes up our hire car challenge and heads to the Queensland Outback for a whirlwind adventure. Covering some of the harshest but beautiful country, from dirt highways to dunes, he takes his crew out for some 4WDing fun at Carisbrooke Station. Will the hire trucks get them through, and who says girls don't make good recovery crews? Watch it Roothy, you're outnumbered! Got a craving for some tasty customs? First on the menu, we serve up a droolingly good 90 Series that's been built for both fun and touring - it's an off-roader's dream. Next up, we chow down on a whole smorgasbord of custom goodness as we hook up with a club and forum run at Coffs Harbour. Topping it all off, we wrap our chops around a G60 Patrol that's been built with brotherly love... and a big grinder! It'll get your heart pumping and your hand reaching for the chequebook. We take on a bit of tech time as Roothy keeps us up to date with Milo's Terrain Tamer engine rebuild, and we take a look at Cooper Tires's top tips on how to get the most out of your tyres in any terrain. We also catch up with the 4WD Action gang as we check out part two of 'Meet the Crew' and find out how Tyce went on his quest to run a stock HiLux ute through The Trench. Yep, saved the best till last - Roothy's cooking! This month, the 4WD Action crew dropped around to the home of our Best 4WD of 2008 poll winner and slapped on a BBQ for 20 of his mates. With Roothy wielding the tongs, it was far from a boring feed of burnt snags and stale bread rolls... top tucker all round! Australian 4WD Action - it's the only show that fills your lounge room with mud and dust, but without leaving all the mess!

If its custom trucks you crave, then wait till you jam this DVD into your player! Hit the play button and you'll find two tough-as-nails competition trucks, an H3 Hummer and HiLux duo ready for action, and a bit of friendly rivalry between a father and son in their Rodeo and Sierra. Talk about a custom smorgasbord! After a quick trip to Terrain Tamer HQ in Melbourne to check on the progress of Milo's engine, Roothy grabs a handful of his mates from the Mudflats 4WD Club and heads to the Levuka Rainforest Recreation 4WD Park for some serious fun and relaxation under the stars. But we aren't done yet! We take a took at the second part of our Coffs Harbour meet-up, and continue with all the fun we couldn't squeeze into the first DVD. Just goes to show, when it comes to 4WDing, you can never have too much of a good thing! We're always getting muddy here at 4WD Action, so grab your old boots and come along for the ride!

We're back again with part two of the Staun Racing Bush Mechanic Challenge! This time Roothy hits the tough tracks in the old 55, and Glenn revs his way onto the sand in the shorty Jackaroo. The competi-tion quickly heats up as both competitors work their way towards the finish line, but not without some strife. Will Roothy take the monster short cut? Will Glenn bounce the wrong way over a sand dune? It's all inside in the thrilling conclusion to the Staun Racing Bush Mechanic Challenge! If the thought of the Jackaroo and the 55 going head to head gets your heart racing, then be sure to check out the amazing custom 4WDs in this month's show. First off, we meet with the owner of an absolutely insane supercharged 4.6L Range Rover. This thing has hydraulic suspension and puts out crazy amounts of power. You'll have to hear it to believe it. If touring's more your game, then make sure you don't miss our interview with a lucky fisho and 4WDer who owns one of the neatest factory turbo-diesel 80 Series 'Cruisers getting around. It's built to get him to where the Top End barra are biting in comfort and style. This month's show also features coverage of day one of the 2008 Jeep Jamboree, including all the highlights, the best trucks, action and everything great about Jeeps. If you're a Jeep fan - and even if you're not! - this one's for you. And of course, we couldn't put a show together without bailing Roothy up, handing him a BBQ, a set of tongs and a beer, and telling him to go nuts! We won't spoil the surprise of what he's cooking this month, so you'll just have to watch it and see. Australian 4WD Action - it's like that first time you took your date up the beach in your dad's 4WD - only better!

The Coffs Coast is one of the natural wonders of NSW's 4WD destinations. A maze of awesome bush tracks - some perfect for those first-timers wanting to wet their feet, or hard enough to swallow even the toughest of machines. What better location to find the answer to one of the most asked questions in the 4WDing world? Patrol or LandCruiser? Join Roothy, a fervent Patrol owner and an unswerving LandCruiser man as they battle it out on the tracks and beaches of the NSW Mid North Coast. If you think you can handle it, stick around as we check out another three awesome customs. From the tip of Australia, we've found a tour-ready Rangie that was built to tackle its home town. We also look at a cut-down GQ that was created using all the tricks of the trade. Lastly, we have tracked down a home-built early model GU that's making the most of its 2.8L diesel. And have you ever wanted to know what the 4WD Action crew get up to when Glenn's not looking? Our camera guys have followed along as the boys make the most of a sneaky early mark. Will Project Guts make it back in once piece? After all that 4WD Action, you are no doubt feeling the pangs of hunger. Chuck on the apron, move the TV so you can see it from the camp stove, and check out what Roothy's cooking up this time.

1x132 Milo's Mates

  • no air date1h

This month, Roothy and Milo tackle the Springs 4x4 Camping and Adventure Park in Warwick, QLD. Teamed up with two more 40 Series Toyotas, the three trucks take on some seriously muddy terrain and prove their worth right up until Milo unfortunately breaks its transfer case. Using his never-say-die attitude, Roothy limps Milo back to HQ, where the gearbox gurus from Terrain Tamer come to the rescue. With Milo back on the road, they headed back to the Springs to do it all over again! It wouldn't be right if there wasn't something brewing in the Roothy kitchen, and this time it's a minced pie. We're not sure how much chilli sauce went into it, but Watto definitely didn't stop hassling the cook for seconds. In our custom segments, we go tough touring with the trick Mitsubishi Challenger, grab a behind-the-scenes look at our own 4WD Action project vehicle - the Mazda BT-50 - and to get your motors running, take a look back at some of the toughest hardcore customs we've featured! In the tech department, the 80 Series gets a makeover in the form of new bar work and side steps. It's not about looks, though, as we show you just how much improvement it'll make. Australian 4WD Action - it won't cure a hangover, but it will cure boredom!

Roothy always gets shivers down his spine when he thinks back to the last trip to Tasmania! Yet, never being one to let his fears get in the way of some good 4WD action, this month he once again teams up with local 4WD gurus Pete Holman and Brian Imlach for a trip through the Apple Isle. Rather than putting Milo through the same punishment as last time, though, it was a change of scenery as both Roothy and Milo were treated to one of the best beach drives they've ever been on. It was a good opportunity to play in the sand dunes and to see just how airborne Pete could get his V8 80 Series. In the custom department, we've got three totally different trucks for you to feast your eyes on. It all starts with what could only be described as the Swiss Army Knife of 4WD vehicles, the Earthroamer Jeep. It's not only a very capable truck off-road, but also features almost every option known to man. The next feature 4WD, an orange 75 Series, isn't used in 4WD competitions, but it is one hell of a weapon. Featuring a full exo-cage, y8 power and 37in rubber, not much stops it off-road. And last but not least, our cameraman Watto gets his 15 seconds of fame to show off his top late-model HiLux dual cab. Around the office he's known as 'The Gadget Man', and once you've seen his car, you'll understand why. In the tech department, Allan Gray and apprentice Roothy change the suspension in the red truck, then the 80 Series build-up gets really serious with the fitting of a pair of ARB Air Lockers. Australian 4WD Action - it's like a four-course dinner. Extremely filling, yet somehow you'll end up going back for seconds!

There's no doubting the fact that Roothy loves taking Milo to Tasmania, and why wouldn't he with all of that awesome terrain. One other thing he's a sucker for is a bit of competition. So when a couple of likely young 4WD'ers in a 35in-tyred GO threw down the gauntlet, he just couldn't resist. Come along as Roothy goes head to head with young Lyndon, aka Trout, and his best mate Luke on some of the toughest tracks in the north-east of Tasmania. Will Roothy win, or will he have to try psyching the lads out with a Hot Tassie Stew? Will Milo make it out in one piece a DVD every month? Should you read the rest of this cover, or just start watching the DVD? Hang on a second, there's more than just a brilliant trek on here. We've got a maxxed-out Prado and Camper, a once timid diesel Defender that's been ripped apart and turned into a V8 ute, and last but not least, a super-tough 75 ute that now does its duties as a comp truck. For this issue's tech, Terrain Tamer's Alan Gray talks about replacing glow plugs and what to look out for, while Steve from Cooper Tires sheds some light on the finer points of tyre pressures! Australian 4WD Action - if it were a meal, it'd be a 1.5kg steak with a heap of mash, a couple of veggies and a massive dessert. Guaranteed to fill you up!

Just when people were starting to wonder if Milo was getting a bit old and worn out, Roothy was ready to prove them wrong. Having had the old green truck on a steady gym program comprising of ARB, Terrain Tamer and Diesel Care to name a few, the old girl was more than ready for anything he could throw her way. Well, at least that's what he thought. Having met up with Cairns radiator specialist and all-round Cape York boffin Terry, a few beers led to a discussion about the Starcke Track. With the odd bit of rough and tumble, Milo unfortunately got a stick jammed in the transfer selector, rendering the 4WD system useless. This didn't prove to be much of a problem at first, but with some intense crocodile-infested creek crossings coming up, it was going to be a challenge. What happens is that... you pull the DVD out of the case and find out for yourself. It's much more entertaining than this cover blurb! Ah, but before you go, this DVD isn't all just about Cape York. Oh no, we've got three brilliant customs in the form of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that'll do anything its master tells it to do, a super-neat GQ that gets to see its fair share of grime, and as a special bonus, a pair of 4WD-loving identical twins from Coffs Harbour with a heavily modified HiLux and Jimny combo. Alan Gray from Terrain Tamer is back to give you some tips on changing the oil in your truck. Steve Vickers from Cooper Tires shows you what to do when you're driving on sand. And with some info on the latest diesel power upgrades, John Jamieson from Steinbauer shows you the benefits gained from fitting a good power-upgrade chip. If you're hungry, you can write down Roothy's special prawn recipe, but if you're not, grab a drink, a comfy chair, and don't let anyone near that remote. You've got some serious 4WD viewing to do!

This month on 4WD Action, Roothy gets a bad case of Murchison Madness when he visits Western Australia’s newest 4WD park. Joined by the boys from the Toyota LandCruiser Club of WA, Roothy goes in search of a legendary beer fridge punishing a well-worn 75 ’Cruiser ute. With around 300,000 acres of off-road insanity to search through and only a slightly dodgy Beer-O-Meter to guide him, will Roothy discover his ultimate prize? Will the FJ survive the ordeal? Tag along with the boys and see what happens! Again, we’ve got three awesome customs. Starting in with an old-school model, we check out Ray Fry’s supertrick G60 Patrol. It’s an oldie and definitely a goodie! There’s a soon-to-be comp truck V8-powered HiLux with some really tidy fabrication work, and a Jeep that’s been set up for touring. Steve from Cooper Tires gives us the goss on what to do when you hit the gravel, and with more info on diesel power upgrades, John Jamieson from Steinbauer is back to show you the benefits gained from fitting a good power-upgrade chip to your vehicle. 4WD Action DVD - if you subscribe to it, you’ll eventually have enough of them to cover 300,000 acres without hitting pause!

We finally made it back again! It wouldn’t be right if Milo didn’t make it up the Tele Track one more time, and did it ever have its work cut out for it. Again, though, in typical Roothy style, the Tele Track was all about having fun, 4WDing, and having the odd bottle of cider around an open fire. Taking along Bamaga local Geoff and Weipa fishing guru Luke, it was one of the best trips we’ve done to date. The young blokes were very experienced, but funnily enough, Roothy again needed to test out Milo’s winch in order to rescue the occasional later-model ’Cruiser. This issue’s customs are great. We’ve got a top late-model Pajero and Kimberley Kamper, a tough TJ Wrangler, and a cool little Jimny loaded to the brim with goodies. Steve from Cooper Tires puts three different tyres to the test over the same terrain. Roothy shows you the right way and the wrong way of approaching the spare parts counter at Terrain Tamer. Australian 4WD Action – it’s as awesome as going for a jaunt up the Cape with Roothy, Milo and Jack the dog. Oh... Hang on, it is that!

We know our readers are cluey when it comes to the nuts and bolts of 4WDing, but it’s always refreshing to get a new perspective on our lifestyle. So, this month Australian 4WD Action has grilled the experts on everything from driving techniques to recoveries; tricks that may come in handy on your next adventure. First up, we take to the track with nationally recognised driving instructor Mick McCulkin, as he gives us some pointers on vehicle set-up and terrain driving. Join Roothy as he recounts recent adventures from Cape York to Tassie and the tricks he used to get Milo through some tough scrapes. We then catch up with off-road champ Bruce Garland, who shares a few tips on tackling the sand and taking on the competition in the Aussie Outback. If hardcore trucks are your thing, then don’t miss our look into this fascinating sport as we rip off the helmets to get inside the minds of extreme-truck competitors. When it comes to customs, we’ve got a really neat 79 Series ’Cruiser from SA. It might look brand-new, but it’s done its fair share of touring. We go north to Yeppoon to hang out with a group of local nuts, then go mental in a seriously set up GQ! Steve Vickers gives us the rundown on avoiding costly tyre damage. 4WD Action – it’s as much fun as taking a comp truck through an amusement park, only a hell of a lot cheaper.

1x143 Man V's Mountain

  • no air date1h

In this edition of 4WD Action, Roothy decides to unleash the Red Truck on the infamous Mount Walker. The Blue Mountains locals reckon this is the place where your courage and 4WDing capability are put to the test. As a precaution, we had to ask local recovery guru Rod Gurney to come along. He's the guy the coppers call when it's time yet again to clean up the carnage left by the mountain. Also along for the ride is Rod's mate Gary 'Huggy' Huggins, who knows a thing or two about winching, Ollie Leckband, a local historian who fills us in on the convicts that worked the area, and Manmeet, a local driver whose Jeep JK has a taste for adventure. A lot of guys need a lot of food, and with Roothy Walling a new Indian dish, will it go down? And stay down? Will Roothy and the Red Truck make it to the summit of Mount Walker? Will Mani's factory-standard Jeep survive the ordeal? Will both end up at the wrong end of Rod's winch cable? Press play for all the action! Also in this edition, we show you a quick and easy way to fix those annoying chips and cracks in your windscreen. Roothy gets together with his old mate Alan from Terrain Tamer as they talk freewheeling hubs, and of course we have some fantastic custom trucks for your enjoyment. We go cruising with a beefed-up Land Rover Defender and don't miss a cracking rock-crawling Willys Jeep! So, it might just be a night to cook up some butter chicken and relax around the box with the fam' - hold on and enjoy the ride!

When it comes to comfort in the bush, there’s not much that can beat the humble camper trailer. Built for camping, packed with beds, chairs, cutlery and even your favourite linen means that there is no need to rough it on your next 4WD holiday. But just how far can you go with one of these things? This month on 4WD Action, Roothy and his mates set out to answer that very question. They hit the Great Divide to punish their All Terrain campers over some of the roughest country NSW has to offer. This is double diff, heavy-tyre territory, and when the heavens open up delivering rain, hail, sleet and then snow, the guys quickly find themselves in the thick of it. So engage your lockers and join the team as they battle, rocks, rivers and the infamous Ugly Sisters (not to be mistaken for Roothy’s in-laws) to take their campers to the limits. Packed with driving action, tips and techniques, and topped off with the magical sights of Kanangra-Boyd National Park, this is one adventure not to miss. Also, this month we’re back at Terrain Tamer, where Alan Grey and Roothy explain that there’s more to suspension than how many inches you’ve got! Don’t miss out on the guys from ARK showcasing their new multi-purpose powerpack! Added to that is an awesome array of customs. We investigate a new model Holden Colorado ute, a husband and wife’s set of ’Cruisers including a shorty 40, and then Bogan takes his GQ Patrol for a good old thrashing! 4WD Action, it’s as much fun as sliding down a slippery, muddy hill on a boogie board... only more dangerous!

If you are busting for a truck-crunching good time, you can’t beat the Mansfield area of the Victoria High Country. This time, Roothy has teamed up with the boys from Piranha Off-road to tackle some of the most extreme tracks the region has to offer. Strap yourself in for the Barkly River Jeep Track, a double diff-lock truck tester with enough switchbacks and ruts to shiver the suspension on the toughest tourers. If that isn’t treacherous enough for you, then Roothy cooks up his vegetarian meat lover’s dish – just substitute the broccoli for some salami. Don’t worry, the classic mountain air will clear the arteries, but let’s just hope the guys make it to the top! It all adds up to a few busted trucks, burning winch cables, and a bloody good time. We also have some awesome custom trucks for you to test drive, including a cool GU Patrol set-up for coastal adventuring, a Holden Frontera camping cruiser, and two hardcore rock crawlers ready to take on the most extreme stuff. Steve from Coopers Tires gives us the lowdown on bush puncture repairs, and the boys from Flashlube showcase the latest in lead-replacement fuel additives. 4WDs, 4WDers, 4WDing – we’ve got you covered at 4WD Action.

This month, Roothy visits the big smoke in search of the ultimate FJ40. When he stumbles across a one-owner model in top condition, he can’t help but take it for a test drive. How will Roothy justify this purchase to the Handbrake… and Milo?! While Roothy is off car shopping, 4WD Action man in WA Graham Cahill and his mates Scott and Gav take us through some of the most spectacular 4WDing in the south-west corner of WA. Join them as they track through the magnifi cent karri forests, the expansive dune systems, and across some of the most challenging wetland and river crossings the country has to offer. We also have three great customs for you to test-drive, including an ’89 Ford Maverick, and we catch up with Steve from Coopers, who gives you some tips on getting the right tyre for your driving. 4WD Action – collecting the DVDs is as much fun as collecting old trucks... Only they won’t rust!

The Victorian High Country is one of Australia’s most spectacular 4WD destinations. In this month’s issue of 4WD Action, Roothy hits the Gippsland region to take you on some of the most stunning touring the alps have to offer. From the restful campgrounds of Moroka Hut, to the majestic views of the Pinnacles lookout, down the daunting descent of Billy Goats Bluff through to the Wonnangatta Valley, it’s all here in this one great episode. Join Roothy as he teams up with the local experts to give you a taste of this iconic off-road destination. Included are hints and tips on tackling steep terrain, advice on mechanical sympathy to prolong the life of older vehicles, and winch recovery techniques to help you through your next big adventure. Also in this edition, Cooper Tires continues to demonstrate the differences between original and aftermarket tyres. This time we’re looking at the ATR and Sure Tracks. Terrain Tamer gives Roothy a helping hand when he breaks down out bush, and we check out the latest offering from GIC camper trailers. Keeping to our usual standard, we take to the track with some mean custom trucks including a 79 ’Cruiser camperback ute, a hardcore GQ Patrol, and we catch up with 4WD Action Editor Shaun and his 60 Series LandCruiser. 4WD Action – it’s as relaxing as kicking back and appreciating the serenity... Just remember to press pause on your dunny break!

In this episode of 4WD Action, we're escaping the big smoke and heading to the majestic Brinda-bella Ranges. Roothy and the Red truck are joined by Colin the Editor of Camper Trailer Touring and a family of four - everyone with camper trailers in tow! Straight up and we're into rocky creek crossings and a rollercoaster of extreme hills - this is electronic braking central. All work and no play makes for a grumpy Roothy, so we stopped in at the breathtaking Wombeyan Caves and later have a chat to Janet, the owner of the Wee Jasper Pub. Before too long we're back on the track. With all sorts of terrain on offer, and Mother Nature putting her two cents in, this was bound to get serious. A slippery dip called the Monkey Gum Fire Trail and things start to become unstuck. Not everybody makes it to the other end... We also have Steve from Cooper Tires advising us on how to get what we pay for. We've kept to our usual standard of customs, with a 100 Series from the west, a lawnmower from the south, and then something you don't see everyday in the shape of a Rhino Hammer! 4WD Action, it's as much fun as racing a monkey down a slippery dip - except you keep all the bananas!

In this issue of 4WD Action, we’re heading to Coffs Harbour to test just how far you can go with a 2in lift and 33s! Following Roothy in Big Red is Shaun, the Editor of 4WD Action. This is an opportunity for him to push his 60 to the limits. They meet up with local guide Corrindi Dave in his Patrol and together make up a pretty impressive convoy! Coffs Harbour is a mecca for 4WDing. With dozens of tracks all a half-hour from the main town, this region has everything to offer the hardcore 4WDer as well as scenic sights for the touring family. It doesn’t take long for action to arrive, and with rain thrown into the mix, this certainly does get interesting. We’ll be giving Roothy heaps for having to be recovered before the recovery (even he admitted he was a dill), and the look of fear was glimpsed a few times... This is not one to miss! Besides a travel segment to remember, we’re giving you quality customs to watch again and again! Scott takes us through his coastal HiLux and Serge shows us the serious side of Jeep Wrangling! Allan Gray is sharing his wisdom when it comes to fitting coil springs, and Scott Butler is back with another comparo that will leave you shaking – bullbar style! 4WD Action: it’s more fun than swinging a 40-gallon drum into a bullbar – no really, it is!

The East Kimberleys is one of the few areas left in Australia that are relatively unchartered. With the 2010 wet season not yet over, Graham Cahill is on his second DVD assignment with 4WD Action. He joins local guides Ronnie and Kinky T to embark on what can only be described as an intrepid exploration. Locals were not afraid to voice their scepticism at what the boys were planning, and they’d be right in doing so. Starting off in Kununurra, the boys would need to traverse hundreds of kilometres of black soil, treacherous croc-infested rivers, and mud fl ats that turn to slush with the slightest rain to get even close to their destination of Oombulgurri. That in itself would probably be enough to keep you guys happy, but there’s even more viewing pleasure to be found! Roothy cooks up one of his favourite camp meals, plus we check in with The Ultimate Suspension in a new segment for the DVD where we go behind the scenes in their workshop. We haven’t forgotten the much loved customs, and we have a homemade camper trailer, a LandCruiser ute, and a mad GQ Patrol! 4WD Action – it’s as perilous as having a crack at the Kimberleys in the wet season, but with a little less trench foot.

Just when you thought you’d seen the best the Cape had to offer, Roothy and Milo are back again! Our mission was to get to the Tip and along the way profi le the best campgrounds on offer. The iconic Old Telegraph Track was appealing, but with the wet season not wanting to budge, the safer Developmental Track was looking like the sensible choice. Well, we couldn’t have all sense and no action, so we split. With a convoy not to be fooled with, a start was made on the Tele’. Don from TJM was back with a thirst for mud, and in the brand-new Prado he was ready to tackle anything. Glen from AMMS and Roo Systems strutted his stuff in a powered-up 200 Series. He certainly impressed us more than once towing the fi rst trailer through for the season. The beaut thing about the Old Tele’ Track is the way it changes so much every year. An easy creek crossing one year is a recovery hot spot the next. Bryan and Joy were towing the Kakadu camper trailer from Complete Campsite, and they decided to take the track with the cheaper repair bill in the Developmental Road. For those who are after the more relaxing trip to the Tip, you’ll enjoy Captain Billy Landing and Vrilya Point. With deep washaways, muddy declines, not to mention croc-infested swamps, will the team make it to the top? Also to look forward to in this DVD are two custom trucks and the South Australia Club Day. There are informative tech segments, including Scott bringing you another comparo in the shape of Powerchip modules. The 4WD Action Super Deal was such a hit in the last issue that we’ve bought you another one, and this time we hit up TJM! 4WD Action: it’s as unpredictable as a ride up the Old Tele Track – just keep an eye out for washouts.

A late wet season makes Roothy want to play, but this trip certainly wasn't all fun and games. Joined again by Glen from AMMS and a couple of his mates, as well as trusty Don, the boys are attempting to be the first through the Frenchmans for the season. The locals told them they'll never make it, and perhaps they should have heeded the warning. What starts as an innocent attempt at success soon becomes one of the most epic withdrawal missions 4WD Action has ever carried out. One day the convoy moves 60m in a day and a half. The question on everyone's lips is 'Will they cross the Pascoe?' Tune in to find out! We also have for your viewing pleasure three superb custom tourers, including Scott Butler's 100 Series. We get to know Allan Gray from Terrain Tamer and hear about his long experience in the trade. We're also back with another unmissable Super Deal, this time with Roo Systems! 4WD Action — what's not to love about watching days-long winching sessions from the comfort of your lounge!

Of all the epic 4WD trips, the Simpson Desert would have to be right up there. For the first time in 60 years, the rains have flooded the region, making it impassable in many areas. So, who do we know that loves a bit of drama? Our mate Graham Cahill of course! This month, our resident 4WD photojournalist sets out to do the ultimate Simpson trip from Alice Springs to Birdsville. Joined by Aboriginal elder Lindsay Bookie, Graham gets a tour of the uncharted tracks of the North Simpson, learning the art of bush survival. From there, Graham heads to the Hay River Track to battle torrential rains and tyre-sucking mud, as they tackle one of the most remote and unforgiving journeys in Australia. On top of all that adventure, we join Allan Gray as he visits the very fi rst winner of the Ask Allan competition – will he come up with the answers? Fred Wright, the man behind ‘Right Said Fred’, is bringing you fuel-saving tips and techniques, and Extreme 4WD’s Rick O’Brien investigates the home of Sprintex Superchargers – and if we’re lucky, we might even get a sneak peek at Glenn’s supercharged 80! With a meal from Roothy and a few beaut customs also thrown into the mix, what more could a 4WDer ask for? 4WD Action: it’s as tough as crossing the Simmo after the Wet!

Graham Cahill, fresh off his latest adventure, decides it’s time to sample more of the best touring and fishing the mighty Kimberley region has to offer. This time we’re heading south to the Gibb River Rd intent on hooking the elusive barra. Join Graham as he explores the picturesque El Questro, takes to the mighty Pentecost in a tinny, and meets up with his mate Ronnie as they travel to some of his favourite local haunts in search of the mighty catch. To top it all off Graham sets off with fishing expert Hairy Dog for an adventure down the Ord River. Complete with crocs, creeks and some of the best adventure travel Australia has on offer - this is going to be great! Also in this edition, Allan from Terrain Tamer visits the next Ask Allan winner. This time he’s heading to Canberra to investigate an FJ40! Rick heads to Melbourne to chat with the guys behind VMS navigation, and in the customs department we’ve got an 80 and a GU to give you all the inspiration you need! Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten your Roothy fi x - he’s cooking up a mighty tasty pork dish! 4WD Action: with more than enough punch to take on the Kimberley for round two!

Roothy and the cold never have gone too well together. When called to battle, though, a trooper never turns his back. The question on everybody’s lips ‘Old or new?’ is about to be answered. The crew have headed to the Victorian High Country, which has recently turned to slush. Patrols, ’Cruisers, a Prado, HiLux, and a Maverick – vehicles fresh off the production line vs old dogs. It certainly is a mixed bag heading to the starting line. Which trucks will stand up in some of the toughest terrain to be found Australia wide? If it’s mud you like, it’s mud you’re gonna get! Deep ruts and loads of winching. Tune in to see this massive dose of action in the stunning Victorian High Country. This is one big issue. A Jeep Wrangler and a GQ Patrol to be reckoned with, as well as an Ask Allan segment involving a diff locker and broken teeth. Scott gives us a sneak peek into his recovery kit comparo, and Roothy stops in to see Glen Hadden at his workshop. To top it all off, we’ve got a couple of unmissable deals that won’t break the bank! 4WD Action – gather around the box, sit back, and get ready to see mud, snow and a fourby roll!

It's time to sail the choppy seas as we follow Roothy and his mates across to Tasmania for another big adventure. During this trip, Roothy and co embark upon some of the toughest and most challenging driving they have ever experienced. Beginning in the mountains of Queenstown, the convoy heads west. High up into the peaks, and in true 4WD Action style, Mother Nature hits with all her might! As the rain hits, dry rock climbs become torrential waterfalls. With snorkels bolted on tight, Roothy and the gang try to make it north up the western coastline on the Climes Track. Tasmania is pure 4WD heaven and the scenery is simply spectacular, but make sure you keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the track, because boy is it wild! 4WD Action - we always knew Milo must have been a submarine in a past life.

You know you’re along with real 4WD nuts when the convoy ventures deep into the Victorian High Country in the height of winter. No hotels, no motels, only a couple of swags and a camper trailer – just the way Roothy likes it! Local Victorian 4WDer Tim leads the convoy in his GU Patrol through some of the toughest, only recently opened tracks the High Country has to offer. After the mud they encountered last time around, the boys have come back prepared. More muddies, more lockers and more of that right-foot confidence! If you have a fear of heights, this trip is not for you – we’re doing some serious driving, mountain goat style! When the front diff on our camera car detonates, it seems like there isn’t a way out. That’s the handy thing about being out on the track with Roothy – you have the expert assistance right at hand! Also in this issue, we check in with Paul who’s working hard on a comprehensive no-bull winch comparo and Fred brings us top fuel economy tips. Allan Gray has gone to Adelaide to look at Marc’s sluggish HiLux and Rick’s out to find the latest in power conversions for your electrical system. Roothy hits GIC up for a camper trailer deal that’s not to be missed. With some tough custom trucks in the mix and an urgent message from the team, this is one of the biggest 4WD DVDs ever! 4WD Action – there’s nothing wrong with being overweight when you’re a DVD!

This month, Graham and a couple of mates depart from Esperance for an epic sand-driving adventure you won’t forget. Experience untouched coastal scenery, majestic dunes and the crystal clear water of the Southern Ocean in a getaway that dreams are made of. Trek east along the Great Australian Bight as the boys travel through some of the most remote coastal scenery in Australia. Traversing dunes, dodging tides, rocks, seaweed and ruts are just a few of the challenges the boys face travelling this country. When things go wrong out here, there’s no ‘roadside assistance’ to call, so when the boys find themselves in trouble, they look to bush mechanics to get themselves and their 4WDs home! Also jam-packed into this issue, Shaun got his hands on the Arctic HiLux – this is a must-see! We go on a weekender to the VIC High Country in an Xtrail, and Roothy is cooking up some pan fritters. We take a close look at the Steinbauer chip, and Allan Gray is helping a couple of brothers to get their LandCruiser back off-road. Not to mention a custom Navara and an 80 Series to be admired, a tyre tips segment, and Mel gives us the lowdown on the Mud Bulls and Music Festival! 4WD Action – this one’s a keeper! (Well, they’re all keepers really…)

In this issue of 4WD Action, we’re back in Tassie. Destination – the wild west. This is rough country with some of the toughest off-road conditions Australia has on offer. It’s all hands on deck and gumboots all around as we take to bogholes like pigs in mud! Will Milo be defeated by Tasmania’s tough terrain, or can Roothy get the old girl through in one piece? When the convoy hit the Balfour Track, they wished they had brought a submarine instead of 4WDs. They must rely on plenty of driving skill, momentum and lots of right foot! As with every great 4WD trip, it’s the unknown element and taking on Mother Nature at her toughest that makes a good trip great. This one is no different as the west coast of Tassie whips up a real treat for us. This is one wild adventure that you’d better get into your rain jacket and gumboots to watch! Also, Allan Gray talks suspension with a temperamental GQ and Rick’s caught the welding bug! We’ve got the very best in custom trucks, and Roothy’s attempting a reader’s camping recipe – that should be interesting! 4WD Action – ahoy! Land ahead!

1x162 Way Out West

  • no air date1h

Some like it hot, and Graham likes it hotter in this adventure from Kalbarri to the most western point of Australia’s mainland, Steep Point. Graham and the boys take a ‘big’ tour of Murchison House Station and are thrilled to discover its diverse range of landscapes, while its owner Calum has a little surprise and challenge up his short sleeve. Onward to the coast, and Graham heads northbound along the Zuytdorp Cliffs to False Entrance, where things get drier than Gandhi’s flip-flops in a mini desert. A fi nal push to Steep Point is the perfect drive to prove Graham’s opinion that the west really is best! If that isn’t already enough, we also catch up with Fred for the latest fuel tips, and Mark French from Marks 4WD Adaptors gives us an overview of the design and manufacturing quality of their engine and transmission conversion kits. Graham jumps in with Terry from Jimboomba Camper Trailers to check out one of their camper trailer models, and we also get another campfire treat from Roothy.

The Red Truck is back in town! With the sound of that 350 Chev letting everyone know Roothy has arrived, we’re ready to see Red put through her paces! This trip is set in the mystic mountains behind Port Macquarie. This is one area where National Parks are yet to take over, and the question on everyone’s lips is, what sort of 4WDing challenges are hidden behind this tourist facade? A lot, according to local Bruce and his mate Donny in a mean GQ Patrol. With the GQ leading the convoy, Roothy and his mates had better have their winching gloves handy! Did you think Glen’s 80 was unbreakable? So did we! Tune in to see the convoy scale the notorious Heartbreak Hill, chill out at one of the most beautiful campgrounds ever, and a shock bush mechanic on the mighty 80! Also on this DVD, Steve from GIC shows Roothy around their new camper trailer and TJM has a Super Deal to help you set up your 4WD. Allan Gray is helping Marco prep his 80 Series for a trip up to the Cape, we have overviews of an array of 4WD products, as well as customs to make the heart race. Whether it be the family or your mates you rally around the old box, make sure you have the chips and the cans ready – this is gonna be a good one!

Join Graham in a sunny west coast adventure! Full of spectacular scenery, great driving, kayaking, snorkelling, sunbathing – yeah right! Mother Nature strikes again as Graham and co get caught up in a once-in-a-hundred-years flood. What was supposed to be a relaxing summer trip turns into something else when a massive tropical storm ravages the Coral Coast between Carnarvon and Exmouth. Little did Graham know that Carnarvon would soon be under water and he and the convoy stranded on the coast with no roads back to civilisation. Will the shorty survive the floodwaters? Tune in to see how the crew react to being stuck in a natural disaster. Also on this DVD, Roothy’s cooking us prawns battered in – you guessed it – beer! Allan Gray finds a Rodeo that has seen better days, and Fred is bringing us fuel-economy tips. Graham drops in to Robson Brothers for a pre-trip check, while Roothy works us a deal with Glen from Roo Systems! We take a look at Superior Engineering, Graham heads away on a trip with Complete Campsite, and we have custom 4WDs that will give you all the inspiration you need for your own build. 4WD Action – now referring to Graham as ‘Rain Man’.

Beautiful sunny weather, tough tracks and high spirits can only mean one thing! Yep, Roothy and the gang are back and this time they are taking on what is arguably the 4WD capital of Australia, the stunning Coffs hinterland! With the perfect blend of sunshine, lush subtropical rainforests and a healthy dose of mud, NSW’s Mid-North Coast is the perfect setting for a 4WD adventure! Local lad Kev Smith is leading the convoy, but even his 6in-lifted Maverick isn’t enough to prevent him from getting stuck. In Roothy’s words, “This is big-tyre country!” So, you had better get your winch cables out and your recovery straps ready as we get set to pull, push and wade our way through some of the best tracks in the country! If heights make you go weak at the knees, or ruts that are deep enough to swallow a 35in muddy are not your idea of a great weekend, then this isn’t the trip for you! Also jam-packed into this DVD, the tech guys are bringing you another in-depth comparo, and this time it’s shocks! The boys have enlisted the help of Dakar legend Bruce Garland as our guest driver, and he knows a thing or two about testing vehicles and components to their absolute limits! Rick checks out a driver training program and Allan Gray meets his first female contestant who has no problem putting him in his place! In this issue, we also check out some seat covers that are perfect for the great outdoors, Roothy cooks up an awesome chicken pie, and we have three tough customs that will knock your socks off! 4WD Action – it’s where your adventure begins!

In this issue of 4WD Action, Roothy and Milo are back in the High Country, but this time we are in the Victorian end of the Snowy River region. Leading us on this trip is Paul in the tough-as-teeth Terrain Tamer FJ40. Paul was brought up in the area and promises us some of the best Victoria’s Alps has to offer! Steve from GIC is along for the ride with his HiLux and camper trailer, and this time he means business. Yep, the HiLux is now the proud owner of a couple of lockers and you can bet Steve is keen to put them through their paces! It’s a case of ‘careful what you wish for’, though, as the Snowy River and its surroundings are famous for big ruts, sticky mud, high altitude, and fog thick enough to make the going as tough as it gets! But that’s not all, Fred drops in to give us some great fuel-economy tips, Rick has been chasing down more power with the guys at Chip-It, and GIC has a box deal that is not to be missed! Real 4WDs, real 4WDers and real 4WDing – we’ve got it all in this issue of 4WD Action!

In this edition of 4WD Action DVD, it’s just like old times! Yep, Roothy and his old sparring partner Allan Gray from Terrain Tamer team up with Steve from GIC and his tough Hilux to tackle some of the best tracks that the Victorian High Country has to offer! It’s hard to imagine a couple of blokes with more off-road experience than Roothy and Allan, and you can be sure that Steve makes the most of the opportunity to learn from the best. And he had better, because the boys are tackling the very best the High Country has to offer this time, including the infamous Blue Rag Track! Roothy and Allan call on all their years of off-road and bush mechanic experience just to make it through some of the toughest terrain that the team has encountered for quite a while! Yep, this one is a true adventure, so strap yourself in and get ready for one hell of a ride! If some of the best 4WDing the country has to offer wasn’t enough, we also check in with the guys at GIC Camper Trailers as a part of our Camper Trailer Extravaganza, where we look at the very latest models to hit the market! Roothy cooks up a chicken casserole that’s guaranteed to warm you up, and to top off a bumper episode, we have three cracking bush-ready customs that will inspire you to hit the shed and get your 4WD ready for that next adventure! 4WD Action – it really is where your off-road adventure begins!

Graham claims that the tracks on this month’s DVD are some of the best he’s ever driven. And guess what? He’s only two hours from Sydney! Starting his trip at Lake Lyall, Graham’s joined by locals Josh, Tim and Dan on an action-packed adventure tackling the rocky climb up Mt Walker, the tough Pipeline Track in Newnes State Forest and a hidden gem – the Gees Arm South Track, which certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted! This adventure has it all. The action, the breakdowns and the scenery, and only a stone’s throw from town. Once the travel segment lights a fi re within you, make sure to check out the latest 4WD products to hit the market. First, we head down to Melbourne to meet the guys from Anchor Right and put their ground anchors to the test. Then, we’re back up in Sydney and out to Penrith’s SCT Campers to check out their offerings. Want to be inspired? We’ve rounded up three of the best custom 4WDs hitting the tracks and spoken to the owners to find out what motivates them. These trucks are built for every purpose, and you’re bound to pick up some top ideas for your own 4WD. We even managed to convince Terrain Tamer’s Allan Gray to come back in from the High Country for another Ask Allan segment. This issue, he helps a couple that are dead-keen 4WDers to sort out some problems on their Prado. It wouldn’t be a 4WD Action DVD if we didn’t have Roothy with a new recipe from the Engel competition to cook up for the crew. And make sure to keep your eyes open for your chance to win a year’s supply of Liqui-Moly oil! Real 4WDs, real 4WDers and real 4WDing – it’s all jam-packed into this issue.

That’s right, Roothy’s back up the Cape for the 2011 dry season, and what a cracker of a trip it’s turned out to be! Join him and the crew as they catch gold fever along the Old Coach Road from Maytown to Laura. This track in the Palmer River Region passes through the Palmer Goldfields Resource Reserve, and rivals any on the Cape York Peninsula. Roothy and the gang are in their element here, with steep rocky hill climbs, beautiful creek crossings and rugged scenery providing the perfect backdrop. We’re just lucky that the early pioneers carved such a top track through this region, and the best news is that it’s still here to experience today! Custom 4WD enthusiasts, we’ve got something for you this month – three of the best 4WDs to ever park in the 4WD Action shed! First up is Editor Shaun’s tough-as-nails 60 Series, then there’s Dave Luke’s big 100 Series bruiser, and finally Production Editor Steve’s neat-as-a-pin custom GQ. They’re three trucks, all built for one thing – to head off-road! But this DVD’s not just about the Cape and custom trucks – it’s your complete 4WD fi x! Terrain Tamer’s Allan Gray is back for another Ask Allan segment, this time helping reader James sort out some overheating issues with his 80 Series. If it’s the best product spotlights you’re after, then we catch up with the teams behind Hema Maps and Dynamica Rope to check out exactly what they’ve been up to. Plus, there’s an exclusive offer to help you hitch a GIC camper trailer to your towbar for an amazingly cheap price! 4WD Action DVD – it’s the closest you can get to the Cape, without crossing the Jardine!

Forget the High Country, forget the North Coast – if it’s tough 4WDing, pristine campsites and breathtaking scenery you’re after, then this month’s DVD is a must-watch for sure! Graham and the team head down the NSW South Coast in search of off-road adventure, and find themselves tackling the legendary Monkey Gum Fire Trail in Morton National Park. Locals will know just how good this place is – now it’s your turn to find out what makes Yalwal so sensational. This issue is also a very special one, because we’ve got a look behind the scenes at a build-up of a different kind. When we found out that one of our readers was seriously down on his luck with health issues and a 4WD needing urgent repairs, we couldn’t just sit by. Instead, we enlisted the help of some of the 4WD industry’s leading experts to get the Patrol back up and running, and help a mate who needed a hand. You won’t want to miss it! Custom 4WD fans, we’ve got you covered too with the best customs we could muster. There’s something for everyone, from tourers to full-blown off-road weapons! Plus, the latest from Polaris and its range of GPS units, a look at the new model line-up from Xtrail Campers, and of course Roothy cooking up a storm. It’s all here on 4WD Action DVD – the only disc guaranteed to inject mud directly into your TV!

When the guys from 4WD Action get together, you can guarantee it’s going to be epic. Roothy and the team tackle some of their favourite local tracks in the Watagan State Forest. If the thought of kneedeep mud, slippery rock climbs, big wheel lifts and massive ruts gets your heart beating faster, then this is the ultimate weekender. Join us for the toughest night drives we have ever attempted – covering only 8km in eight hours! It’s not only the tracks that’ll have you glued to the screen, but also seeing the guys behind the mag in the thick of their offi ce. Watch the mateship as the guys band together to bring every truck through every obstacle – no man left behind. See track building at its fi nest, with this well-oiled machine jumping at the opportunity to lend a hand to their fellow 4WDers and team members. Also on this DVD, Roothy’s cooking something called ‘Oh My Goshi’ – yes, you should be scared! We look back on all the Ask Allan segments, and there are three stand-out custom fourbies. Roothy catches up with the team at Polaris to get the run-down on the new Next Generation unit, and we check out the latest from the guys at Waeco and MotorActive. Jam-packed with action, this DVD is one that you don’t want to miss!

If you reckon you’ve seen it all up in Cape York, think again! In this issue of 4WD Action DVD, Roothy and the gang stray right off the beaten path to check out a seriously tough track that the locals reckon is a full-on challenge. How tough? The descriptions at the pub ranged from ‘impassable’ to ‘rough as guts’ and the clincher... ‘Hasn’t been driven in years’. Now that’s a red flag to a 4WD bull if we’ve ever heard one! Heading off-road without knowing whether you’ll actually make it to the other end of the track? That’s pure 4WD adventure! Also this month, we bring you a brand-new series, as Terrain Tamer’s Allan Gray teams up with his mechanic nephew in ‘Old Mechanic vs New Mechanic – The Story of an FJ45V build-up’. There were only a few of the FJ45Vs ever brought into the country back in 1961, and there are now only a handful left. How will Allan with his old-school ways and unconventional methods work in with a mechanic 50 years his junior to get this project off the ground – and within budget? Also on this DVD, we catch up with the guys from Waeco, Beadlock and Adrenalin for the latest updates on their gear, check in with the owners of three awesome custom trucks built to handle anything the Aussie bush can throw at them, and Roothy cooks up ‘Chris’s Camp Cutlets’. We’re drooling already. 4WD Action: any more entertainment packed onto one disc and you’d need a tyre lever to fi t it in your DVD player!

In this month’s DVD, Graham and Shorty continue their exploration of the NSW coast, and this time they’re tackling the Watagans! This may as well be a recovery special, ’cause we’re pushing these 4WDs to their limits! Sticking to the northern region of the Watagan Mountains, we see the convoy face Cut Rock Road, Old and New Mill Roads, and Greens Break Road. The mundane names don’t reveal just how tough these tracks really are, but this DVD definitely will. Who won’t make it out the other end unscathed? You’ll have to watch to find out! Also on this DVD, we catch up with Allan Gray from Terrain Tamer for part two of The Project and see how the build-up of the FJ45v is progressing. We’ve got three beaut custom trucks, Roothy cooks up a Green Thai Chicken that will make your mouth water, and we check in with the guys from Option Audio, Wallcann and OzTent Australia for an update on their latest gear. Real 4WDs. Real 4WDing. Real Adventure!

If you want a wild off-road weekend out of Brizzie, then they don’t get much better than the sensational Glasshouse Mountains. Just an hour north of the city lights, this area has it all – mud, rocks, mud, ruts and more mud! This month, Roothy, Glen and Jamie head bush to find the toughest tracks in the region in their own version of the ultimate brand battle. There’s no love lost in the Toyota vs Land Rover war, so who’ll come up on top? Custom 4WD fans, have we got three awesome trucks for you! This month we catch up with the owners of a brilliant big GU Patrol that’s been set up to munch the muddiest High Country tracks, as well as a very nicely modified HiLux that proves leaf springs can work well off-road. Then, to top it off we’ve got a high-class off-road machine – a massively modified Lexus LX470! Don’t think that this luxo-version of the mighty 100 Series is destined for carparks, though – it’s built to go bush, and that’s where the owner takes it. This is serious 4WD country, and with names like Billy Goats Track and Rollover Road, the Shorty and Shaun’s 60 with their 2in lift and 33s are set to be put through their paces. At one stage, Graham ends up in a boghole with water coming under the door seals at the same time that Shaun’s 60 slides right off the track! Whether you’re punting up the seriously remote Canning Stock Route, getting bogged down on the beach at Esperance or lifting a wheel out the back of Perth, WA has it all. One bloke you don’t need to convince of that fact is Graham – a born and bred WA boy who has been exploring the western side of the country since he was a kid. Join Graham, MDC Steve and George as they trek along the Murchison River to discover the amazing region where it meets with the Indian Ocean. It’s seriously tough country out here, but the rewards are definitely worth it! This issue we’ve got four tough-as-nails custom 4WDs, all with a firm ‘budget built at home’ slant to them. First we catch up with the owners of two tough V6 Bundys, before checking in with a beaut XJ Cherokee touring truck. Finally, we speak to the owner of a cracking old Patrol ute who has built his 4WD to handle anything the bush can throw at it. If that wets your appetite for adventure, Roothy’s got the solution. This time around, he whips up a new take on beef and mushroom stew that is bound to be a camp favourite. Yep, we’re getting hungry just thinking about it! All this and more on 4WD Action DVD – the only show that delivers more of the Aussie bush straight into your living room!

When you think the Cape, you instantly think the Tele’ Track and the Frenchmans. But the Cape is so much more than its most popular tracks, as Roothy, Hasbeen, Rocket Rod and the Market Direct Campers boys are set to find out on this edition of 4WD Action DVD. The run from Musgrave Roadhouse east to Port Stewart is well off the tourist trail, which means one thing – adventure! From river crossings to swamps, soft sand and monster ruts, the Cape’s throwing everything it can at the boys to stop them from getting to Port Stewart. Will they make it, or will they fall victim to some of the toughest off-roading on the Cape York Peninsula? You’ll have to watch to find out! Talking tough 4WDing, this issue we catch up with the owners of some serious trick trucks. First up is an immaculate touring-spec GQ wagon that has all the gear the owner needs to cross the Simmo. Then, we catch up with a family who share a common interest – modified Jeeps! Mum, dad and son all drive tough 4WDs – is this Australia’s biggest 4WD family? Finally, we meet a bloke who has done what we’re all aiming to do – built his version of the ultimate dream 4WD. This chopped 60 Series is a credit to his handiwork, and it was all built at home! Don’t try and tell Roothy he’s lacking culture, because this issue he’s bringing to the camp table one of the most cultured meals he’s ever cooked – Massaman Beef Curry! Yep, we don’t really know what ‘massaman’ means either, but we’re certain it’s going to be a scorcher. All this and more on 4WD Action TV – the only show made by real 4WDers, for real 4WDers!

When you think 4WDing in WA, you think places like the Canning or the Kimberley – amazing long-range adventures in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. But WA has another side to its off-roading – the sensational coast dune areas down around the southernmost parts. Graham’s one bloke who knows this all too well, and on this issue of 4WD Action, he takes us for a trip into his own backyard and shows us spots only the locals know about. The boys are faced with windscreen-deep water, monster sand-dunes, and of course Graham’s specialty – serious amounts of rain! We’re all about real 4WDs here at 4WD Action, and this month we’ve got three pearlers that are all built for the bush. First up is a close-up look in high def at this issue’s cover truck, that tough-as-nails Defender built for the Cape. Then we meet up with two mates with two seriously slick Patrol utes – one a GQ and one a GU. Finally, we speak to the owner of a touring 120 Prado with all the gear to tour anywhere in Australia. Just because Graham’s out on a trip this month, it doesn’t mean we’ve given Roothy the day off! He’s whipping up another bush cooking storm this issue, with his take on a reader recipe for off-road chicken enchiladas. This one’s bound to become a favourite around the campfi re! All this and more on 4WD Action TV – where the off-road challenges are as tough as the 4WDs.

It’s the best parts of off-roading in Australia combined – amazing landscapes, tough 4WDing, and the kind of campsites you see in books. The track they take hasn’t been driven in the past four years, which means one thing – serious fun! Will they make it, or will they end up bogged on the side of the track for days? There’s only one way to find out… Talking Cape, this issue we catch up with three owners of tough off-road weapons that have all been built to tackle Australia’s toughest tracks. You’re guaranteed to pick up ideas to incorporate into your own build-up, but warning: we take no responsibility if viewing this DVD leaves you with the irresistible desire to modify your 4WD! While we were bush with Roothy, we pointed him at his Engel and got him to whip up another camp cooking creation. This time it’s something that’s perfect for those cold nights around the campfire – Stockman’s Stew. Except this stew’s just that little bit different, as you’d expect. Chilli? Garlic? Curry powder? We won’t spoil the surprise! All this and more on 4WD Action TV – the show that knows too much chilli powder in your tucker is never enough!

First up is an exclusive first detailed look at Shauno’s freshly chopped 60 Series, now known as ‘The Dirty 30’. Join Roothy and the boys this issue as they attempt to head west from Wauchope, to the massive Aspley Falls, by taking nothing but off-road tracks! Some haven’t been driven in years, and the chainsaws are guaranteed to be put to good use clearing fallen trees and opening tracks again. Will the boys make it through successfully, or will they be forced to turn back? There’s only one way to find out! As always, this issue also features three tough as nails customised 4WDs that have been built to tackle any track in Australia. First up we meet with the owner of a 120 Prado that’s been built on an amazing budget, proving you can have all the modern fruit you want, even if you’re on a beer budget. Next is a High Country-touring 80 Series that owes the owner less than $7000, and finally we speak with a couple who have one of the toughest home-built dual-cab GU Patrols we’ve ever seen – and who aren’t afraid to use it! Plus, Roothy takes on one of your mum’s most famous dishes – apricot chicken – and puts a new bush spin on an old favourite. You’ll never look at apricot chicken the same way again. All this and more on 4WD Action TV – more adventure per hour than any other off-road show, or your money back!

Finally, we catch up with a bloke who’s built a seriously tough styleside chopped 80 Series ute – the ’Cruiser that Toyota should have built! Roothy’s back this issue to whip up another recipe too – he’s calling it ‘Veggie Surprise’, but we reckon the surprise comes from the fact that most vegetarians would fi nd the contents surprising! 1x216 Tassie's Best Kept Secrets

  • 2012-12-01T00:00:00Z1h

Tassie - it's as iconic as the Cape or the Simmo, and it conjures up incredible images of muddy tracks, desolate wind-swept beaches, and the kind of views that'd make a grown man go weak at the knees. But sadly. Tassie also has more than its fair share of extreme greens who subscribe to the 'conservation through exclusion' type of thinking, and want to do nothing more than shut regular Aussies out of our own backyard. Determined to prove that there's still plenty of places to head off-road in the Apple Isle, Roothy and the boys head south this issue and attempt to trace a nearly 300km journey from Bridport in the north-east to St Helens further down south without doing more than 10% of the trip on the tarmac. Will the boys succeed, or will locked gates force them to unlock the hubs? There's only one way to find out, and it ain't by reading this DVD cover... When you're done dreaming of Tassie, join us as we catch up with three custom 4WD owners who the term 'addiction' was made for. To warm you up after the snow, we've got three seriously hot custom 4WDs to check out this issue too. First up is an absolutely cracking coil-cab GU Patrol that will take on just about any track, and then we meet the owner of an incredibly tough 200 Series that has us putting our Lotto numbers in. Finally, we head down to South Oz to meet a bloke with a tough dual-cab Luxxy who loves his 4WD club so much, he's got the logo tattooed on his arm! The Simmo it's a massive place, and that's putting it lightly. While the main east-west crossing is still a challenging drive, these days it's a highway compared to the original crossing 50 years ago. If it's no-bull, honest, heart-in-mouth adventure you're after out of the Simmo, you've gotta look a bit further - like to the geographical centre of the desert. Join Graham, Dave Cox from Mt Dare Station on the western side of the Simmo and Rob and Graham from Hema Maps as they push north-east from Dalhousie Springs in search of the exact centre of the Simmo. They'll be relying hard on their GPS tracks and maps to get there, because there's very little in the way of tracks and a whole heap of massive sand-dunes to conquer before they get there. Will they make it, or will they be forced to turn back? You know what you've gotta do to find out! Don't go away in between though, because we've got our usual cracking assortment of custom 4WD profiles, the latest and greatest gear to add to your 4WD and tips on how to make your next off-road escape even better. It's here on this edition of 4WD Action TV - the only Aussie off-road show that searches longer and harder for incredible adventure!

If you reckon you've 'seen' Tassie, think again. When a couple of long-time mates invited us down to see the real Tassie, the nits we haven't covered before and only the locals know about, we knew we had to jump at the chance. Join Graham and Rod as they meet up with a couple of Tassie locals with insane 4WDs, who live and breathe off-roading. These tracks aren't for the faint of heart, nor are they for those with a particular fondness for their paint jobs. There'll be epic drives, the thickest mud you've seen in ages, wide flowing river crossings and plenty of winches-out recoveries. In fact, we'll go so far as to say this may well be the toughest Tassie trip we've ever done. You've never seen offload adventure like this. This is tough as nails low-range 4WD Action like only 4WD Action can do!

The boys are back in Tassie, and this time they're taking on the epic west coast! Join Graham and some Local 4WDers as they take on the best that the west has to offer. They'll make their way out to the legendary Pieman Heads, play on the massive Henty Dunes and eventually head for the staggering Montezuma Falls. In between they'll be looking for the best low-range tracks they can find, and they'll be putting up at some simply stunning campsites. This is some of the very best that Tassie has to offer, and it's all here, delivered right to your loungeroom!

In this issue of 4WD Action the boys tackle Moreton Island, and discover there's much more to this SEQ escape than meets the eye. It's no wonder that by the end of their trip, Moreton's giving Fraser a serious run as Shauno and Graham's favourite place off the QLD coast! For the first time ever on DVD Shaun hits the tracks in his 80 Series, while Graham pinches the keys to the big 4WD Action GU, and Rocket Rod rumbles along in his insane automatic 79 Series 'Cruiser! With beach camping to rival anywhere in Oz, pristine swimming at the Champagne Pools, quad bikes, snorkelling, stunning water crossings, and a trip to the highest coastal sand dune in the world at 285m, this is one DVD that you'll be watching over and over again! Join the boys as they take you on a low-range ride through the best attraction Moreton has to offer. It's got all the fun of Fraser, but without the crowds!

Two mates, two utes and a whole tot of cracking outback adventures. Aussie 4WDing doesn't get much better than that! Join Graham and Shauno this time around as they head bush on a different sort of off-road adventure. The NSW outback's the destination, and along the way the boys take a couple of cracking detours, to help out on a sheep station muster, and visit some iconic pubs. And of course, there's some absolutely sensational 4WDing and some of the very best campsites you'll ever see along the way. It's the outback like it's supposed to be -red dirt, good mates and a couple of tough utes! All this and more on this episode of 4WD Action TV - the only off-road show with bulldust in the heater vents.

It's the place for big sky sunsets, deep bulldust, iconic Outback pubs and some of the single best campsites you'll ever see. In this episode of 4WD Action DVD Graham and Shauno head out past Broken Hill and discover all of that and more as they push north up to Eldee Station, where there are 80km of 4WD tracks up into the mountains and across the Mundi Mundi Plains. In true 4WD Action style, the guys don't just stick to the well-worn tracks, they head into wildest parts of the Outback and challenge themselves and their rigs on some of the lesser known parts to seek out old ruins and memories of yesteryear. Every red-blooded Aussie 4WD needs to experience the Outback at least once in their life and it doesn't get much better than this! If you want to take your family or mates on an adventure they'll never forget and have a week up your sleeve, this is the trip for you. While in the heart of the NSW Outback, Graham and Shauno couldn't go past the opportunity to go down an old tin mine out the back of Sitverton and of course make sure the beer is still cold at the legendary Sitverton Hotel. They catch up with some of the local characters as well as get up close and personal with some of the local wildlife! It's a funny and inspiring 4WD adventure into a place we've never before been to for a 4WD Action DVD and the guys take the time to give plenty of camping and 4WD tips for you to use on your next trip. When you see the Outback campsites in this DVD, you'll be packing your camping gear and swag into your 4WD to get your fix of red dust!

Imagine being handed the keys to a track by the traditional owners, and being told"See if you blokes can make it through!". That's the challenge we're up against on this issue of 4WD Action TV, as we attempt to re-open the track from Coen to Stoney Creek on the Cape's wild east coast. The traditional owners said that they hoped we packed plenty of recovery gear because it was going to get one heck of a workout! In fact, they weren't even sure that we'd make it to the coast at all - the track was that tough. To make things harder, Shauno's also towing a trailer with Ray's turbocharged 1000 cc buggy, because something tells us they're gonna need it! If it's the toughest Cape York adventure that you want to see on a track that hasn't ever been filmed, park yourself in your favourite chair and get the winch out, because things are about to get wild in true 4WD Action style!

1x241 Bogged & Busted in Cape York

  • 2015-01-01T00:00:00Z1h

The last time we were in Cape York you might remember we drove the Stoney Creek Track that we claimed was much tougher than the Old 'Tele and hadn't been driven in years. Well, in this issue of 4WD action our plan is to drive south to the silica sand dunes around Cape Flattery and experience some of the best beach driving and camping on the east coast of the cape. But before we do that we need to get out of the Stoney Creek track, which was hard as nails in the dry, how will it be after a stack of rain? Graham, Shauno and the boys have no choice but to find out as the track turns into clay as they winch their way into the night just to start the next adventure! In what can only be described as their toughest Cape adventure yet, the unthinkable happens and one of the vehicles snaps a spring and there is doubt on wether they will even get out of the Stoney Creek track. When we think we're clear, one of the other vehicles sheers it's wheel studs and loses a wheel, things have just turned from bad to worse! We might need to leave a vehicle behind if we want to make it to Cape Flattery.

1x243 The Kimberley

  • 2015-03-01T00:00:00Z1h

Five years ago in one of Graham's first ever DVDs with 4WD Action he attempted to drive from Home Valley in the east Kimberley north to Kalumburu via one of the most remote tracks in Australia. It was early in the season after a late wet and that track almost beat them. They only made it a tenth of the way and had to bail on the track at Oombulgurri and catch the ferry out. Five years in the making, Graham, Shauno, Rod, Ronny and Col head back to the Kimberley to make it all the way. By hell or high water they are determined to finish what they started in what is one of the most remote and unforgiving land-scapes in the country. You make a mistake out here or breakdown and you may as well say goodbye to your 4WD because help is at least a week away. The boys will have to travel over 700km in low range across some of the toughest terrains the Top End can throw at them. Will they make it or will they have to bail out again?

Have you ever heard of Oombulgurri? What about McGowans Island? Nope, neither had we... In this issue of 4WD Action DVD, we travel from Oombulgurri - one of the most remote communities on earth, to McGowans Island, which is even further into the unknown. And we do it via the infamous Carson River Track! This is the Kimberley like you've never seen before. Forget the Gibb River Road and Pentecost River crossing, you won't find where we're taking you on any tourist maps! Prepare yourself for river crossings in croc infested waters, near show-stopping breakdowns hundreds of kilometres from help (with some pretty handy bush mechanics to keep the 4WDs rolling), and a western sunset view on an abandoned beach that would be on every postcard in WA - if the masses knew about it. This is the best the Kimberley has to offer, and it's yours to experience right now, from the sandfly-free comfort of your favourite lounge!

Alright, its time to settle the score once and for all. Who's really the best off-road - the blokes or the girls? To answer the question we enlisted three of the most die-hard 4WDing girls we could find anywhere in the country, and told 'em to meet us at the legendary LandCruiser Mountain Park. We enlisted Graham to judge the battle, and put Shauno, Brenno and Justin from NQ Crash up against the girls. The fairer sex might have the boys' number when it comes to driving skills, but what the girls don't know is the blokes are definitely not above cheating. This right here is the DVD you've gotta watch with your missus!

Or will the infamous ruts, rocks and feisty bog holes of Brisbanes local playground send 'em packing with panel damage and bruised egos. Lucky the boys all gave their winches a service before they took on Glassy, boy did they pay for themselves! This is low range 4WDing at its absolute best and is one insane adventure you won't wanna miss!

Join Graham, Shauno and the boys on their Simpson Desert adventure. This time, the convoy got permission to leave the Hay River Track and forge a new path out to the border of the Northern Territory and Queensland, to find any evidence of the old border markers. With thousands of kilometres of remote desert to cover, will they find what they are looking for? There's absolutely no help out there. The boys are on their own as they venture into parts of the Simmo where no 4WD has been before! Then the boys plan to finish off at the Birdsville Hotel for a few cold ones, but not before tackling the iconic Big Red! This is outback touring at its very best.

Join Shauno, Graham, Barney and the boys as they head back to Cape York for another incredible adventure. This time, the boys are tackling a part of the Cape that they haven't done before - the breathtaking West Coast! With untouched billabongs filled with fish, stunning Cape campsites and some tough as nails low range driving and mental recoveries - This is tough as nails remote Cape adventure at its very best, and the boys have the place to themselves! If this DVD doesn't make you wanna plan your trip up to the West Coast of the Cape, you need your head checked! So sit back, grab something cold to drink and lock the hubs in your favourite chair - because this is the Cape like you've never seen it before!

This time, Shauno, Graham and the boys are back in Tassie to do some more exploring and to find even more mental tracks that Tassie is notorious for. The boys are in search of that famous Tassie mud and boy do they find it! These tracks take no prisoners. Every vehicle was pushed to it absolute limit in Depp testy boggles, mental slippery mud ruts and hill climbs where your 4WD is at full noise scrambling for every inch of traction it can get. One thing's for sure, the boys were all glad they serviced their winches before they jumped on the Spirit of Tasmania, because they certainly earn their keep on this trip! So lock the hubs in your favourite chair and grab something cold to drink because this is one filthy 4WDing adventure you won't wanna miss!

This time, Shaun, Graham and the boys are back in Cape York for some more epic exploring. Follow along as they head back to the remote and unforgiving Stoney Creek Track, so they can make their way out to the stunning east coast of the Cape. One thing backer mighty fast once the boys had aired down, no one had driven this track in a while! The last couple of massive wet seasons the Cape had since the boys last explored this part of the area have changed the track completely. Will the convoy make it to the stunning beaches on the coast? Or will they get bogged to the chassis in the river sand trying to get there? The only way to find out is to get in your favourite comfy chair, grab something cold to drink and checkout this wild remote Cape expedition to the coast!

This time, Shanuo and Grahame are on the South Coast of NSW, and they're gonna tackle some of the toughest low range tracks that the famous Yalwal State Forest has to offer! They've also brought along their favourite ratbag Jocko, so he can put his recently completed solid axle swapped and coiled HiLux to the test. If it's insane low range action, and massive rock steps, 4WD swallowing ruts and technical driving that gets you excited - Yalwal is the place to go! Couple that with pristine river camping and this is one adventure you won't wanna miss. So lock the hubs in your favourite chair, because this trip will make you wanna pack the 4WD and head away!

Join Graham, Shauno and Brenno as they head for Tassie’s southern-most low-range tracks in a Zook that didn’t cost them a cent! It’s laugh-a-minute fun as the boys throw themselves at every bog-hole and rut they can find, and stumble across some absolutely incredible camping along the way. Lucky Brenno’s got the big GU along for the trip, as it doesn’t always end well for the Zook, either. All we’ll say, is the boys are glad the little Sierra has no carpet, and big drain holes! The rest of the trip? You’ll have to watch to find out. 4WD Action TV - the only off-road show that’s more comfortable in a rusty old wreck than any other 4WD.

If there’s one track in Oz that’s at the top of every to-do list, then it’s the Old Telegraph Track in Cape York. Rutted, muddy and with water crossings over the bonnet, this iconic track is the pinnacle of Aussie 4WDing. This issue Graham and Shauno are tackling the Tele with Shorty and the Dirty 30 – and believe it or not, it’s Shauno’s first time! But that’s not even the best part about this DVD! This time, we’ve sent young Jock from the mag up to the Cape with a grand in cash which he’s just spent on a bog stock 1984 single cab HiLux! If you’ve loved our previous project trucks like Zero Dollar Zook, then you’re gonna love our newest one – Thousand Buck Lux! Don’t miss Jock’s first adventure in this stock as a rock beast of a truck as he does everything he can to keep up with Shorty and the 30. There’s no guarantee they’ll even make it to the end, but one thing’s certain – they’re in for one hell of an adventure giving it a red hot go!

Zero Dollar Zook is back for another tough track adventure, and this time it’s got Shorty right by its side! From Kempsey to Coffs via some of NSW’s most insane back tracks, join Graham, Shauno and Jock as they put the Zook through its biggest challenge yet. These tracks were a tough-as-nails challenge for a double-locked GU on 35s, so you can bet Shauno had a heck of a lot of fun behind the wheel of the little Zook! In fact, there’s no guarantee that Zero Dollar Zook will make it back! Tough tracks, insane recoveries, intense track-side repairs, spectacular river-side camping and a visit to one of Australia’s most iconic pubs – this issue of 4WD Action has everything you need for a cracker of a night in!

Graham, Shauno and Rocket Rod have the time of their lives at the Baghetti Homeland in central Arnhem Land - one of the most remote and stunning locations anywhere in Australia! Traditional owners Lazerus Murray and his family treat us to the best that the Top End has to offer. From crazy croc-infested swamps with mud that'll stop a big diesel in its tracks, to the deserted Cape Arnhem, and a camp-site that Graham's rated his favourite ever, there's more adventure in this DVD that the average city-slicker will fit into a lifetime! Shorty's back up and running, while some quick thinking from Shauno sees a great bit of bush mechanics keep the Dirty 30 on track to their final destination and avoid certain disaster. This is the Top End like you've never seen it before. 4WD Action - the only place you can explore Australia's most remote 4WD tracks without using a drop of diesel!

The last time Graham and Shaun visited Lorella Springs, they were on a mission - to forge a track through the Top End's Harsh wilderness, right to the Gulf of Carpentaria. It was the 4WD Action DVD that almost broke them, but now they have returned with Shorty and the Dirty 30 to finish the job! Lorella Spings is pure, Top End wilderness - the kind of stuff that Shorty and Dirty 30 love! From 100 meter long mud holes to super soft salt flats that have the boys bogged up to their sills, there's loads of off-road action to be had. But there's heaps more to Lorella Spings than that - with incredible camping locations, pristine swimming holes and more fish you can throw a stick at, the sign at the entrance to the property has it right " Welcome to Paradise"

In this issue of 4WD Action, Graham and Shauno visit Bulahdelah, and the locals are keen to show them their favourite tracks! These tracks make Coffs look like a walk in the park – we’re talking bog holes that’d swallow a tank, ruts that any 4WD is guaranteed to lift a wheel on, and clay mud so slippery it’s like ice! With Shauno in his brand spanker of a 79 Series and Graham in his trusty D-MAX, are these blokes biting off more than they can chew? This is 4WD Action at its muddiest, sloppiest, gnarliest best!

There’s remote, and then there’s where Shaun and Graham are heading on this episode of 4WD Action! They’re back at Lorella Springs in the Top End, and this time they’re creating a brand new track! Following in the footsteps of the famous explorer Ludwig Leichardt, they’re battling untouched wilderness, wild creek and river crossings and rocky expanses that have never before seen the treads of a 4WD. With the punishment they’re putting Shorty and the Dirty 30 through, there’s no guarantee that they’re gonna make it through this one, but one thing’s for certain – they’re gonna give it a red hot go! Epic, untouched campsites, stunning waterholes, grueling terrain and pristine Aussie wilderness – this is remote touring at its most wild!

The Victorian High Country – home of freezing cold weather, stunning views and epic campsites – not to mention insane 4WDing! In this episode of 4WD Action, Graham, Shaun and the boys hit up the High Country’s toughest tracks in the middle of winter! From soft snow to insane hill climbs, these tracks will not only put their 4WDs to the test, they’ll put their driver’s abilities to the test as well! Don’t be fooled into thinking the High Country is an easy going off-road adventure – these tracks bring new meaning to the word tough! From insane winch recoveries to a kilometre long hill that took them over ten hours to conquer, you’ll be blown away by how much off-road action the High Country has on offer in the middle of winter! So grab a nice warm cupper, light the fire and stay warm – because this DVD is an absolute cracker!

Broken axles, mental recoveries, ruts and rock steps that would swallow the dirty 30 – and that was just in the first hour! Does it get any tougher than this weekender? You’ll have to see for yourself! There’s every chance that you’ve never heard about Yalwal because it doesn’t seem to get the same attention that places like Coffs Harbour and the Glass House Mountains do for tough 4WD tracks. It certainly flies under the radar compared to other places in Australia, but as we found out in our last DVD trip, this place is home to some of the more gnarly tracks in the country, and just to make it a little bit tougher, we attempted some of the toughest tracks in the region at night!

Cape York is unarguably the number one 4WDing hotspot in Oz, and for good reason – with cracking tracks like the Tele that are accessible to everyone, the Cape is the perfect adventure location. For those willing to dig a little deeper however, the Cape takes adventure to a whole new level of gnarly, and the perfect example is the Old Coach Road between Maytown and Laura. This track is a brutal challenge, regardless of whether you’re running a 4WD with a 2in lift and 31s or a twin locked beast on 35s! From rock steps the size of a car, to ruts that’ll test the flex of even the most articulate trucks, this track is the ultimate Cape York challenge! Have Shauno and Graham bitten off more than they can chew? The answer is a definite yes! With insane recoveries, breakages that have them calling for a flatbed from Cairns and more wheel lifts than you’ve ever seen before, this is off-road adventure at its very best!

Welcome to Commando – one of the most insane, epic 4WD challenges anywhere in the country! Shauno first attempted Commando over five years ago, back when the 60 was a wagon. Now he’s had a second crack at this infamous hill climb, and well…let’s just say, you’ve gotta see it to believe it! Joining him on this trip to the 4WD capital of Australia is Graham, Brenno in the mighty Project GU, and Chris from Superior Offroad 4WD in his Navara that doesn’t know the meaning of getting stuck. This thing will deadset drive anywhere! If your idea of the ultimate 4WD escape is mental tracks and remote campsites, then this is one DVD you simply can’t miss! Packed full of the best local advice (including a bulletproof G60 that Graham’s absolutely blown away by) and tough driving tips, if you love laugh-a-minute, high entertainment low-range action, then you’ve come to the right place. Grab a drink and enjoy our white-knuckled guide to the biggest and baddest tracks that Coffs Harbour has to offer!

If you ask us, there’s no challenge quite as big as the Vic High Country in late winter. The rivers are running, there’s snow on the peaks, and even an inch of rain turns incredibly steep clay and rock hill climbs into a dangerous, boggy mess. For Graham and Shauno, this was one challenge they couldn’t resist! On this insane second instalment of their Vic High Country adventure, the boys search for Australia’s steepest, gnarliest track, and they didn’t have to search for long to find it. When we mean steep, we’re talking mental climbs on rocky, rutted, wet tracks to crowd-free mountain top campsites. 4WD adventures don’t get more gruelling or scenic than this!

The Old Tele Track is the most iconic 4WD track in Oz, but that doesn’t mean that your Cape York adventure finishes at the Jardine! In this episode of 4WD Action, Graham and Shaun prove that there’s a whole lot more to the Cape than just the Tele Track. They’ve found the most insane tracks north of the Jardine Ferry – from mud, ruts, gnarly hill climbs and some of the softest and most pristine beaches in the country, these are the tracks and campsites that only the locals know about! From tough 4WDing, some of the best fishing anywhere and a couple of the most stunning campsites in Queensland, this is the secret Cape York hotspot that we guarantee you won’t wanna miss!

Five years ago in one of Graham’s first ever DVDs with 4WD Action he attempted to drive from Home Valley in the east Kimberley north to Kalumburu via one of the most remote tracks in Australia. By hell or high water they are determined to finish what they started in what is one of the most remote and unforgiving landscapes in the country. You make a mistake out here or breakdown and you may as well say goodbye to your 4WD because help is at least a week away. The boys will have to travel over 700km in low range across some of the toughest terrains the Top End can throw at them. Will they make it or will they have to bail out again? Nothing describes Australia quite like the Kimberley, an ancient land in the northernmost point of Western Australia. Bordering the Timor Sea, the Great Sandy, and Tanami Deserts, The Kimberley is one of the earliest settled parts of Australia, with the first arrivals landing about 41,000 years ago (back when it was originally part of Indonesia).

In this episode of 4WD Action DVD, we travel from Oombulgurri – one of the most remote communities on earth, to McGowans Island, which is even further into the unknown. And we do it via the infamous Carson River Track! This is the Kimberley like you’ve never seen before. Forget the Gibb River Road and Pentecost River crossing, you won’t find where we’re taking you on any tourist maps! Prepare yourself for river crossings in croc infested waters, near show-stopping breakdowns hundreds of kilometres from help (with some pretty handy bush mechanics to keep the 4WDs rolling), and a western sunset view on an abandoned beach that would be on every postcard in WA – if the masses knew about it. This is the best the Kimberley has to offer, and it’s yours to experience right now, from the sandfly-free comfort of your favourite lounge!

2018x07 This will make you buy a 4WD.

Fraser Island, off Australia’s eastern Queensland coast, is the world's largest sand island, stretching over 120km and laced with panoramic views. This was an unforgettable 4WD trip!

The Coffs Coast in NSW is premier off-road territory, and in this episode of 4WD Action, Graham and Shauno are showing a red-blooded Aussie 4WD family the best tracks and most epic campsites the place has to offer. With sloppy mud, ruts big enough to swallow Shauno’s 79 Series and some of the tightest tracks anywhere, you’d think it was all about the 4WDing – but you’d be wrong! They also hit up some of the best campsites anywhere in NSW, including the sensational Pebbly Beach! Epic camping, tough 4WDing and a 4WD family in their element – you won’t want to miss this episode of 4WD Action!

Mud so deep it gives the Dirty 30 a whole new meaning. Ruts so gnarly they’ll snap an axle in two – ask us how we know. Hill climbs so steep you’ll need a worked V8 Cruiser with plenty of right boot just to get to the top – good thing we brought one! Welcome to the Glass House Mountains… This episode of 4WD Action DVD we’re back in the Sunshine State. Except, we’re in mountains so wild and overgrown that the sunshine never makes it down to the tracks, which is why the mud in these parts is famous across the country. Join Graham in Project GU, Shauno in the Dirty 30, Justin from NQ Crash & 4WD Spares in his freshly powered-up big GU ute, and Pete from Diesel Fit in Toowoomba, with a 76 Series that sounds so mean it’ll haunt your dreams (seriously, it’ll be echoing in your head long after the DVD is done). Described as the Coffs Harbour of QLD, this seriously-fun local low-range adventure will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about QLD’s toughest tracks. With plenty of wheel lifts, recoveries, bush mechanics, laughs, and a campfire cook-up that’s fancier than a LandCruiser with a working hand brake, this DVD is so dirty you’ll feel like washing your 4WD after watching it!

Forgotten for years, re-opened by us - 50km in 4 days! Imagine being handed the keys to a track by the traditional owners, and being told "See if you blokes can make it through!". That's the challenge we're up against on this issue of 4WD Action, as we attempt to re-open the track from Coen to Stoney Creek on the Cape's wild east coast. If it's the toughest Cape York adventure that you want to see, on a track that hasn't ever been filmed, park yourself in your favourite chair and get the winch out, because things are about to get wild in true 4WD Action style!

"Half way through I knew we wouldn't all make it!" - Shauno Thick mud, snapped springs, breakages, bush mechanics and recoveries...will all 4WDs survive this trip? If you thought Stoney Creek Track was tough watch the boys slog to get off it in the rain, on a mission to some of the best beach driving and camping on the Cape!

After watching this episode, you’ll agree we found the toughest track in Tasmania, perhaps the whole of Australia. Shaun, Graham and Barney drive a track with mud so thick and sticky, they spend the night sleeping on the track, inches from the bog hole the 30 is stuck in. Talk about pushing your 4WD to the limits! Along the way they find a campsite that will rival any in Australia, and have a heap of fun and laughs while searching for the best hidden tracks in Tassie. We haven’t seen a episode this tough before!

We hope you've got your recovery kit ready because in this episode, Shaun , Graham and the boys bite off more than they can chew when they tackle some of NSW's muddiest, most fun tracks. Along for the ride we've got big GUs and GQs on 35s and a twin-locked V8 Cruiser, but even those are no match for the slipperiest, steepest tracks of the Great Divide. Best of all, this 4WD hotspot is the perfect place for a three day weekender from Sydney or Brisbane. Call the boss, chuck a sickie, and we'll see you on the tracks!!

Prepare to be blown away. On this issue of 4WD Action, Shauno, Graham and the boys head high into the hills of Tassie’s west coast and discover a 4WD wilderness like they’ve never seen before. With epic mud tracks, absolute untouched mountainside, and wild and rugged beaches that give the east coast of Cape York a run for its money, Tasmania’s final frontier does not disappoint. Spectacular campsites, pristine lakes and some of the steepest hill climbs you’ll find anywhere are just the beginning. As we dig deeper into the hidden hotspots of Tassie’s west coast, we discover more and more why those who’ve been there can’t stay away.

“The best thing about 4WDing is you don’t really need a whole heap of cash to get out there and enjoy yourself. Plenty of folk out there reckon you need all the gear in the world to have a cracker of a weekend, on this DVD I’ll show you the complete opposite. Yep – I’m hopping in the camera car – a soot blowing, funny smelling 80 Series that we bought for under $5k. She’s got tyres and suspension and that’s about it. I’ll prove that you don’t need to throw $30k at your 4WD to enjoy the best bits of the High Country. I’d be lying if I said it all went to plan though – I don’t think I could come any closer to rolling the old girl if I tried! To find out how – you’re going to have to watch!” -Shauno
