1x01 Memphis Part 1: Best Laid Plans and Grudge Matches

  • 2014-08-01T04:00:00Z1m

This week brings us to Millington, Tennessee, home to the Memphis Air Show, where one man bears the burden of responsibility more than anyone else - the man controlling the show… the Air Boss, Wayne Boggs. It’s most definitely going to be a jam-packed day for Wayne who is bossing both day and night shows, and presents an exciting opportunity for hoards of fans anxiously awaiting to see the show headliner... “JET TRUCK.” As one of the most action-packed and popular air show acts on the circuit today, the “Jet Truck” is driven by Chris Darnell, who is joined on the road by his family and the Jet Truck Mechanic, Wayne. Today the Air Boss faces back-to-back challenges with immediate delays putting him behind schedule and must do whatever it takes to bring his show in on time while everything that can go wrong does! Alongside the countless setbacks with staying on schedule, mechanical issues threaten performer Julie Clark’s routine and may force her to cancel her biggest show of the season.

We’re back at the Memphis Air Show where turbulent weather threatens to put a damper on Wayne’s day, while the Jet Truck’s Mechanic also faces a challenge as he’s put to the test during a high-risk “smoke and fire” show. Although time is not an issue for the Air Boss today, performer Julie Clarke races against the clock as she desperately works on getting her aircraft fixed in hopes of finally taking flight for the crowds of Memphis. Making another run in Memphis once again is the highly popular Jet Truck, headed by driver, Chris Darnell, with support from his wife Brooke and Mechanic, Wayne... or as he’s better known, the “WAYNER.” Conditions aren’t ideal but the show will go on, and for the Jet Truck that means a modified but no less explosive performance to accommodate for the slippery runway.

Welcome to Lakeland, Florida, home of the week-long fly-in & expo known as Sun ‘N Fun... and also home to our very own Air Boss, Wayne Boggs. As an event that promises to be a season highlight, Sun ‘N Fun will feature an eagerly anticipated performance by the one and only, “Blue Angels!” but what starts out as a bout of nasty weather, quickly turns into a warning that no one was prepared for. Suddenly with a thunder storm on the horizon and an unforeseen delay with the Blue Angels just moments before the show, Wayne is quickly running out of time before today’s performance begins and devising a back-up plan seems impossible with the eye of the brewing storm in full view ahead. Now with severe-weather warnings in effect, the headlining Blue Angels must ultimately postpone their arrival which leaves Wayne scrambling for a solution before the show starts and his time runs out altogether. This nightmare scenario with the unpredictable changes in weather has Wayne crossing his fingers that the forecast will bring with it a massive sigh of relief.

The weather is closing in and the decision to fly is up to the performers... will they stand-down, or will they risk their safety in the face of a potentially devastating storm? And will Sun ‘N Fun live to see another day as it braces itself for the worst storm the community has ever experienced? As a result, Wayne is confronted with the difficult decision of whether or not he’s going to cancel the air show altogether. Suddenly Wayne must shift his focus to finding refuge for as many aircraft as possible and make sure all the spectators find shelter as the tornado approaches. The entire community is shocked by the worst storm Sun ‘N Fun has ever seen; now all they can do is start to pick up the pieces in hopes that the expo will live to see another day. Restoring order to the miles of destruction covering the grounds of Sun ‘N Fun is an insurmountable task for anyone to fend against, but not only do the volunteers have a wreckage of airplanes, trees, buildings, and tents to clean up, they have just hours left before the event will be closed down for the season.

It’s the last show of the season as Wayne is joined by All-Star announcer, Rob Reider, for their most complex air show yet - and with over 20 aircraft and 15 jumpers in the sky at once, what could go wrong? Pensacola promises to be especially thrilling, as it is also the official homecoming show of the United States Navy Jet Team, the Blue Angels, and while the minimal crowds would suggest a relatively low-pressure day, the rehearsal is shaping up to be an endurance test of maximum proportions. As the sun rises on Pensacola, Florida, the sub-zero temperatures of the day before have subsided, allowing Wayne to focus on the safety and ultimate success of today’s show since there’s always some potential of it turning very chaotic for the Air Boss. Once the Air Show takes off with multiple planes and jumpers in the sky, Wayne’s Air Boss skills are put to the ultimate test as everything threatens to unravel before his eyes.

1x06 Pensacola Part 2: Overcome

  • 2014-09-05T04:00:00Z1m

Welcome back to Pensacola, Florida, for the third and final day of the Pensacola Air Show, the last air show of the season and the final day at the Air Show for Wayne, joined once again by legendary announcer, Rob Reider for a bittersweet concluding show to what has unmistakably been a tragic season. Today iconic pilot John Mohr takes to the skies for a performance that will leave you breathless. Among John’s arsenal of breath-taking signature acts is the three man “mid-air transfer act,” a maneuver that John helped to create. Unfortunately, the year marked by tragedy was felt by John first hand, when fellow performer and friend, Todd Greene lost his life during the “mid-air transfer act” while John was flying. As day turns to night one last time, the crowds are treated to a stunning display of a night show, a tribute for those who risk their lives every time they climb into the sky to entertain us with heart-stopping displays of aviation.
