This was an interesting take in the whole sci-fi cop show and Karl Urban and Michael Ealy had a good chemistry going on. Makes no sense it got canceled without, at least, giving a shot into a second season!
How come this was cancelled and shit shows like 'The Following' have 3 seasons ?!
It was so disappointing that this series got cancelled, without the chance of getting its foothold, huge continuity problems because the episodes got aired out of order. But I was willing to give it a try. Too bad the network wasn't.
This show needs to be picked up again. Keep the same two, Ealy and Urban as they played their parts well and had a great chemistry on screen. Almost Human didn't take itself too seriously, in fact I would say it had very similar traits as Stargate:SG1.
Definitely deserves a reboot on a better network, perhaps Netflix?
Despite John being the main character, Dorian and Rudy were the definite highlights of this show.
The way Michael Ealy portrayed Dorian was excellent, at times managing to make me believe that he was a robot in human flesh, his conflicting emotions always appearing real but not real enough. He walked that thin line so many times during those 13 episodes, brilliantly mixing the stern look of robots with the "fake" emotion of humans, and came victorious at the end of each of them. I would have loved more episodes, if only for the joy to see him do this again and again.
After watching 8 episodes from the first season I have to say, I like it so far.
I am a fan of Dorian, his character is well written and he is really fun to watch.
I hope that this TV show is getting a better development. So far, there is only some case solving, and go to the next case. The duration where the characters are properly introduced should be over, so there is far enough room for a bigger story.
So my hope is that the writers gonna do that. And they have to do that quick. Because even if I like the show, I am really no fan of that "closed" episodes and move on to the next action - based - 45 minutes - solving - case ...
If they don't, I think it will only be a show which I watch next to surfing on my iPad or doing something else - that would be a shame.
Currently I give Almost Human a "fair" rating. 6 out of 10 points with the hope that it will develop for e.g. like Fringe - where it was almost a case-to-case solving in the beginning, but getting into a great story after the first season.
Wow the wait was worth it, pilot was very good, exciting and heaps of action. Here's hoping the series continues.

I liked this show, a lot... and now I'm really upset because I just learned that it got cancelled. I don't know how to feel now, because this show had so much potential. It was so good, had compelling stories, and always had me wanting more. The characters are rich and were interesting. This show deserved a second season, if only to tie up all the loose ends.
If this show weren't cancelled, I would say that the loose ends were fine; they'll get resolved in the new season. But that's not the case, so now I have to say that the loose ends were detrimental to the show. Almost Human has an overarching story, wherein we are trying to find out what happened to Kennex. We also have the bond developing between Kennex and Dorian. Great stuff.
Each episode added more to the puzzle, but also left some thing hanging, presumably to be addressed in future episodes. The problem lies with these plot points not coming to a resolution. We never get to learn the truth about the ambush, we barely know anything about the wall, and we know little else about the geopolitics of this era.
I think Almost Human expected to have more than one season, and that is absolutely obvious. But because it didn't, we are left with but a small part of a much larger puzzle. I think that was a bad move. I think that if more care went into making season one stand on its own, we would have had a second season that could have included these elements.
All that said, I don't regret my time spent watching Almost Human. The show is fantastic, and I really do mean it when I say the show still has potential. It's probably too late for Season Two, though, as unfortunate as it is... but there's still a glimmer of hope for something different.
Edit: I have reviewed some of the other comments, and I think I understand where some of my confusion is coming from. The episodes are out of order! This, I feel, was also detrimental to the show. Major shame... Ah well, I guess I need to update my list and give this a rewatch in the future. :smile:

i enjoyed this one and was disappointed to learn of it being canned as i watched every episode as and when way back when and it became a must watch for me in the end.
Not through epic acting or plots just the entertaining factor and how one gets involved with the characters still i'm keeping this 1 on my hard drive for now.

I loved this show and it's one where I was genuinely sad when it was canceled. There are so many other show that's so much worse that keeps getting renewed, so why couldn't this one get at least one more season? Budget restrictions? It was only one season and it kept up the quality all through the season.

The stuff with Dorian remembering non-planted child-stuff was really something to build further upon.

i have nothing to say about this show! its funny,smart and incredibly enjoyable. Dorian and John has this amazing chemistry i could watch them tease each other all day great performances from both of them. the only one that bored me is the female detective(Valerie Stahl) so boring she's trying so hard but i don't care because Dorian and John and Rudy made this show so watchable so creative

Why Fox chose to air these out of order is as much a mystery as why they aired Firefly out of order. The character development and world building makes so much more sense when viewed in the intended order. All the actors involved are top notch and the scripts are fresh and engaging. Was really disappointed when the series wasn’t renewed. Purchased it as soon as it was available on Vudu so I could enjoy it over and over.

Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, and Minka Kelly give solid performances and make for a good assemble cast, and the special effects are especially well-done, making for some fascinating future technologies. Almost Human delivers an exciting and action-packed 13-episode first season, but it’s not always sure of what type of show it wants to be.

I have no idea why this got cancelled! There was such potential, and so little time to show it off! Karl and Michael were great, I loved the Captain, and I really thought she and Valerie had so much room to grow as characters. :(

I mean sure, it wasn't as good as the first episode made me believe and the fact that they botched the episode order AND didn't have much of a continuing storyline made it all the worse... but seriously? Ratings weren't that bad comparing it to other FOX shows so wow... this really came as a surprise.
Drawn to try to follow the series because of my faith in J.J. Abrams. But I ended up feeling irritated by the way they fail to deliver what was a great premise. Throughout the series, it almost looked like they were so intent at dazzling the audience with future out-of-the-world tech that they completely bungled everything else about their stories. My god it's painful to see the underdeveloped direction they take of its central mystery. Hope they fix this should they get renewed.
It's quite a good show, if they get renewed for season 2 (which I hope they do) they should focus on a story arc and try and get away from the case of the week.
I wouldn't say this is a great show like others are saying. Again that's just my opinion. I've seen great shows. Example: the killing, the wire, game of thrones, the borgias, etc...This show is okay. Worth watching if you have time in your hand. It's pretty much a futuristic version of CSI.

This show clearly is promising. Finished watching the first episode, and what can I say?
First, it is quite entertaining. The first 10-15 minutes may be boring but when you get into the thing, that's okay then!
Basically, if you saw Real Humans you won't be disappointed. It's a world when very advanced robots existed, some of them being quite close to humans, at least physically(yet it seems that some can think and feel too).
With this first episode, we can witness the subtle change of point of view of the protagonist, a police officer, that has to be with his "synthetic" each time he is on a mission. Will not spoil anything here, you have to watch it, but clearly his point of view about robots is not the same as at the end and at the beginning of the episode. Good to see a show where characters develops quickly ! You know how boring it is to have an interesting synopsis but boring firsts episodes where characters are painted so blurry. Here, this is not the case and all you'll want to do is watching the next episode.
Hope this has helped you deciding whether you should watch this or not.
One of the best tv shows I have seen in last few years. Finally some epic scifi with awesome cast, story, effects and action. Worth the wait and I will recommend it to all my friends!!!
