Studies show that cosseting parenting can lead to children losing out on the independence they need to grow. Here, parents leave their youngsters, aged between eight and 16, alone at home for four days to look after themselves. They are observed by remotely operated cameras, and monitored by a production team and independent experts. The first programme follows the fortunes of Natalie's 16 and 13-year-old daughters Millie and Laurel, who are joined by Natalie's partner Dan's 14-year-old son Ethan. With the house to themselves, will the trio do the right thing or will the parents return to chaos?
