Starts a bit rough, with the first few episodes especially kind of childish in sensibility (instead of childlike). Even during the bumpy first half though the mythology and world-building are so dense and well-woven that it keeps my interest. Some complexity finally kicks in around mid-point (the first episode I really like is "Jet"). It has a nicely building sense of stake-raising from then on, with some really good episodes, and the finale is downright great. Excited to continue to the next two seasons!

It was a wonderful journey filled with emotion, joy, sadness, thrill, adventure and so on. A great cartoon series. Outstanding animation with a lot of fighting. Very well directed

While not every episode is a complete, 10/10 winner, the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, when viewed as a whole, it's exceptional stuff. The animation is stellar, the fight scenes are a blast, and the entire cast is likable, three-dimensional, and interesting, which makes for great storytelling as the show develops it's world and story with the finesse of the masters, particularly in regards to the unique bending abilities.

But the real treat is in the details. From Aang's subtle guilt complex throughout the show, Zuko's slow humanizing, Katara and Sokka's own complexities, and the blurry nature of war getting more and more blurry as the show goes on, this season does a lot to set that up and it pays off beautifully by the end. A fantastic first season to an overall spectacular show.

A slow start, with a few "childish" episodes but overall a great first season and foundation to build on for what overall will become 10/10.

9/10 A little too much filler, especially in the middle part. There is also a very small amount of feminist messaging. And interesting how the arranged marriage at the end with Yue is only shown as distressing for the female, and the groom (apparently the only White water tribe member in existence, what a coincidence) is just an asshole. Also Katara suddenly becomes extremely talented at the end when she wasn't the entire show, that was not explained very well. And Aang is insulted at the end too by the water master just to tear him down so they could elevate Katara. Yue and Sokka's romance also happens way too fast and is not impactful.

Great show but the Fandom/Wiki has to be completely ignored because retcons and additions to the story via the fanfiction-tier new show Korra, the extras, books, etc. are all insanely woke and disgusting and it all shows up there even if it was not in the original show (it mostly isn't). So the Fandom page in unfortunately completely useless.
