Both M & F are magnetic. It seams that martensite formation is not depended wholly on carbon (304 has very little) but on strain, either from thermal or mechanical. THANKS ANDREW! We see what's inside the Yeti. It's got interesting internal features like copper plating and a weird ferrite bead. We also go full geek on what makes stainless 304 non-magnetic and corrosion resistant.
