Much better than the overloaded mess that was episode 1. I maintain that Carlton's character has been hugely misunderstood. No fan of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air could write Carlton Banks so poorly.
Once again the best Banks member award goes to Ashley. Once again Trey is the smartest person in the show. The first half of the episode is again too overloaded but it does even out towards the end but Will is still too unsympathetic for a main character of his genre. But his trauma, his sport. Those are relatable. That's when the writing shines through. Funniest scene is when Will is talking to another student and then the teacher points out class is literally on going. The show has clearly sacrificed Ashley's stories for creating an engaging Hilary. You get why because older actors are easier than younger ones.
I also have a problem with the Banks kids being unable to read a situation. Will can't code-switch to save his life... literally. Hilary burns bridges because she doesn't like her mom. Carlton is a mess for reasons we still don't understand. Next episode is going to be a trip as they somehow try to reconcile this into a cohesive narrative.
