Maria Rita, a young shepherd from Serra da Estrela, sees a suspicious man, David, hovering over her grandfather's house and, to defend the territory, fires a shot of air pressure at him. The boy is actually a young lawyer, who reveals that he is there in the name of his father, Henrique, but the young woman rejects what she hears, convinced that her parents died in Germany.
Henrique proposes to Maria Rita to take the place as his daughter, in exchange for the salvation of his grandfather's dairy, but the young woman refuses, saying that they are not going to sell themselves to anyone.
Vera questions Maria Rita about her going there, threatening to call the police. The young woman reveals herself to be Henrique's daughter, but both Vera and Mercedes refute the idea, thinking she just wants to promote herself. Outraged, Maria Rita realizes that it is best to leave, but she is called by Júlia, who makes it clear that she does not want to see her there again. Maria Rita prepares to leave when David arrives. Mercedes and Vera are incredulous that the two have already met, and she reveals that it was he who was looking for her at Henrique's request.
Vera questions Maria Rita about the purpose of going to her home and threatens to call the police when Maria Rita reveals that she is Henrique's daughter.
Maria Rita wakes up full of headaches, and is distressed to be in a bra. David assures him that he did not take advantage of her, but Maria Rita tells him that she does not want to hear any more lies and goes out of breath.
Mercedes urges Vera to ask David directly why she lied when she said she was going to Porto, when she finally went to jail to see Henrique.
Maria Rita says she's here to stay, as Henrique asked. In order to leave, Julia is willing to offer him twice what Henrique promised, but the young woman refuses, asking for a room to stay.
Suzy tells her mother that she already knows why she separated from Pompey, when Madalena comes in with a bouquet of roses and hands them to Celinha.
Teodora catches Joca sleeping in the cafe and scolding him for not warning her about going to Aveiro. Hónorio asks about his granddaughter and is intrigued by Joca not looking very sure when he replies that everything is fine with her.
Rodolfo, accompanied by David, enumerates to some embarrassed Pompeu and Celinha all the problems and losses that they have arranged in the company with their confusions, and concludes the conversation indicating that not only Pompeu is out of work, but Celinha will also be fired from Salinas . Both plead with Rodolfo not to do so, but he remains adamant.
Maria Rita shows Suzy the photographs she discovered of Vera having several dates with a man. Suzy tells her that that face is familiar to her, and tells her friend that she can earn points with David for that. Maria Rita tells him that David is already part of the past.
Maria Rita tells Constança that she is the person she likes most in that house and is committed to helping her if she has any problems.
Joca looks worriedly at Rafael, telling him that he cannot let him go to Aveiro, for having received a complaint where they accuse him of trying to sexually abuse Marlene.
Suzy complains to Laura that she can't stand sharing her room with her grandmother, when she receives a call from Maria Rita, who tells her that she saw Nelo visiting Henrique in jail.
David and Vera kiss, with peace made. Carmo's son can't help but be surprised by his girlfriend's new stance, with this one still reinforcing that he realized he was being unfair to the pastor.
Suzy criticizes Leonor for ruining her mother's business, but ends up understanding that she wants her parents to be together again.
Rodolfo sees Constança and Nuno arguing and calls Mercedes, indicating that his daughter's problem is solved.
Carmo looks astonished for Barnabas to enter with the air of someone who took a beating and the pastor indicates that he does not know what happened to him.
Honório tries to calm Teodora and accuses her of doing it with Marlene, the same as he already did with Celinha, because he thinks that no woman is good enough for her children.
Pompey works with Nelo and none of them see Maria Rita heading for the factory office area. The pastor is almost caught by the security guard and sighs with relief that he has not seen her.
Celinha threatens to go to the police to report the illegal Mercedes deal, but ends up agreeing with Madalena not to want everyone to be out of work if the spa closes.
Mercedes alerts Luzia that the only thing they have in common is to have the same parents, becoming furious at assuming that she was the one who reported her to ASAE and stole her bags.
Honório tells Joca that he is going to sell the cheese factory to pay Henrique the money he gave him and asks him not to tell his granddaughter anything.
Celinha enters the house, is shocked to see Pompey in the kitchen with a woman and, tearfully, leaves.
Irritated, Vera criticizes Aldina for having raised the suspicion to Julia, that she may have another granddaughter she does not know. Aldina apologizes and is concerned when she knows that Maria is ill.
Arthur tells Luzia about Vera's mysterious connection to Maria's family, having to find out what's going on. Arthur receives a call and runs off, leaving a worried Luzia behind.
Arthur tells Vera that he cares about Maria, after realizing that she is mistreated by her stepmother. Vera disguises her tension when Arthur asks her what her reasons are for liking Maria so much. Vera approaches Arthur seductively and indicates that Maria was just an excuse to be with him, but Arthur doesn't believe it. Trindade de Sousa is saved by the arrival of Mercedes, who immediately asks Artur what he is doing with Vera. Arthur remembers being involved with Vera six years ago.
Arthur grabs Vera and tells her that it is very easy to do the math, because they were together months before Maria was born, which means that he could be the child's father. Vera uses her usual game of humiliation to escape the conversation, stressing that he was not the only person with whom she became involved. Artur leaves and tells Vera that the story is not going to be like this.
Artur asks Vera if she was the one who got him a job in Lisbon to keep him from her. Vera denies it, and is dumbfounded by him accusing her of making Maria disappear, so that he cannot prove that she is her father. Julia interrupts the conversation and orders Arthur to leave his house.
Marlene asks Alex about Joca, and the young man gets ready to give him the address where he came from.
Pompey and Suzy comfort Marlene, who cries for Joca not to accept that they are going to have a child.
Arthur tells Luzia that he is considering telling the truth about his daughter to David, being sure that he will forgive him.
Henrique assumes to Vera that he has to make some decisions regarding his marriage to Mercedes and is amazed that his daughter tells him that Mercedes has already decided for him, having just left home. Mercedes runs into the house, much to the amazement of Henrique and Vera, saying that her car was stolen, and that for this reason she was forced to go back.
Mercedes is relieved that Julia tells him that she has already realized that she sold the car. Mercedes confirms that she spent more than she should and that, therefore, she had to do so. Julia says that, regardless of not liking her, she does not want Henrique to part with her at such a difficult time for the family.
Vera thanks Artur for ruining her engagement and life, when she says they have a daughter. Arthur does not stay and insists he wants her to tell him where Maria is. Vera denies knowing the child's whereabouts.
Henrique reassures Aldina, telling him that no one will find out that they are the ones who made Maria disappear in an attempt to make Vera assume that she had a daughter. Aldina asks Henrique not to be hard on Vera, who got in trouble because he and Mercedes were absent parents.
Suzy tells Maria Rita that the conversation she overheard from Mercedes proves that she was already hanging out with Rodolf before Henrique was arrested, further thickening the plot.
Carmo receives a call from David to tell him that he is arriving at Serra da Estrela and then asks to deliver a bouquet of flowers, predisposed to try to save his son's engagement.
Carolina milks a sheep and is cursing her bad luck for being left with nothing, when David arrives and is amazed to see her there.
Júlia tells Henrique that it is better to act tactfully with Constança so as not to lose her and questions him about where he was on the day of the theft, but Henrique deflects the conversation by saying that he will not let Constança manipulate him.
Laura is intrigued that Luzia missed the doctor's appointment, when he told her it was very important for her to go there.
Mercedes arrives with Carmo at the farm, and they are apprehensive that Laurinda tells them that David left to go to the village.
