Christmas is coming and Charlie and Lola have received an advent calendar to help them keep track. The calendar has a flap to open for each day leading up until Christmas. At school, they find that many of their friends have received the same calendar, so they trade stories of what things they found underneath the flaps. Charlie and Lola also get ready for Christmas, discussing wanted gifts, making cards, and writing letters. On Christmas Eve, Lola discovers something disturbing - the flap for Christmas has disappeared from the calendar. The two go inside the calendar to find out what happened with Christmas.
It is the beginning of Autumn term at school, and Lola finds that everything is different. She and Lotta have new sitting places, she has a new teacher, the school smells funny, and the leaves have fallen off of her favourite tree. Eventually, she decides to hibernate and wait for Spring.
Charlie has to get Lola ready for bed but Lola insists that she is not tired, and is too busy drinking strawberry "pink" milk with tigers, brushing her teeth with a lion, playing with a whale in the bath, and dancing with some disco dogs.
Lola and her friend Lotta know everything there is to know about dogs. So they are really pleased when Marv lets them look after Sizzles in the park.
Charlie is trying to get Lola to hurry up or else they'll be late for school. But Lola finds it so hard to hurry when there is colouring, dancing clouds, playing hopscotch on musical pavements, and laughing with hysterical hedgehogs to distract her.
Lola has her heart set on playing the Sun in an upcoming school production, so she tries to get her teacher to fulfil her destiny, but then she is upset when she is cast as a leaf. Charlie tries to convince Lola that leaves are very important.
Charlie has to make lunch for Lola, but she's a very picky eater and refuses to eat carrots, peas, mashed potatoes, fish sticks and her least favourite food - tomatoes (although she has never tried these foods before). So Charlie tricks Lola into eating the foods she "hates" by changing their names.
Lola's favourite book is 'Beetles, Bugs and Butterflies', which she often borrows from the local library. But when someone else borrows her beloved book, Charlie tries to find another book that will win her interest.
Lola is ill in bed. Charlie has promised Marv that he'll play soccer with him, but Lola begs him to stay and cheer her up.
It's time for Charlie and Lola to get their hair cut, but something is bothering Lola and she doesn't want to tell Charlie what it is.
Lola insists on doing everything on her own, even some things she is not really good at doing. Charlie tries to teach her that there is nothing wrong with occasionally accepting a little help.
Charlie is good at making Lola jump. Lola is desperate to be able to make him jump back, but, as hard as she tries, just can't seem to do it. So the only way to make him jump is to host a sleepover with Lotta and Marv.
Charlie and Lola are planning a picnic with Marv and Lotta. But will the event be ruined when the weather turns?
Charlie tells Lola not to play with his home-made model rocket, but Lola just can't resist when she and Soren Lorenson have to use it to transport a sad elephant back home to the jungle. When the rocket breaks, Lola has trouble admitting that she did it.
It's Charlie's birthday, and Lola knows what his birthday surprise is. Will she be able to stop herself blurting it out and ruining it?
Charlie and Lola are going to visit their grandparents' house by the sea for the weekend. Lola loves going to Granny and Grandpa's but she is worried about remembering to pack everything. Then she is worried about missing her parents, and them missing her.
Lola has a loose tooth, but does not want it to fall out, until she learns about the tooth fairy, who will leave her money in exchange for her tooth.
It's picture day at school and Lola must keep clean for a whole school day for her first school picture. But keeping clean for a whole day is really, really hard.
Lola finds a spider in the sink when trying to brush her teeth, and she doesn't like spiders very much. Charlie tries to show her that some spiders don't hurt us and that they're our friends. Soon, Lola has grown attached to the little creepy crawly, now keeping him as a pet and naming him Sidney. After they have put the spider outside, the weather changes, and Lola worries on what might happen to her new little friend.
Lola wants to choose the best present in the world for Lotta's birthday. She chooses a doctor's kit, but doesn't think that Lotta will appreciate the kit as much as she would, and would rather like to keep it for herself.
Lola is going to stay at Lotta's for the night, and packs everything she needs for them to play Cinderella. Back home, Charlie and Marv set up their race car track. But Lola forgets her suitcase and Charlie and Marv can't find an important piece of the track, teaching both parties a lesson in improvisation and imagination.
Charlie and Marv are to appear in a musical assembly about outer space at school. Lola wants to join in and desperately wishes that she could play music too, but can't seem to master any instruments. Charlie comes up with some makeshift instruments that she might be able to manage. But on the day of the presentation, Marv is sick - who will take his place?
Lola is busy playing secretary, waitress, dentist and librarian. Way too busy to play with Lotta, or Charlie, or even Soren Lorenson. But Charlie's new card game, Mix-Up Flip-Flop, is awfully tempting...
Lola wishes she was taller. Charlie tries to show her that being small can have its benefits by switching places with her.
Charlie and Lola have fun playing with their new "Build Your Own City" playset that Granny and Grandpa have bought them, but Charlie wants to build airports and play aliens, whereas Lola wants draw and build a zoo. Will they manage to share?
Granny and Grandpa have bought Lola an alligator costume. Lola loves it and insists that she will never take it off. But with an upcoming school presentation about things she likes, Charlie is worried that his little sister will make a fool of herself.
Lola always wants to win at everything - even if it means cheating. So Charlie challenges her to a race around the park that she cannot possibly cheat at.
Snow is forecast and Lola can't wait for it to arrive. When it finally comes, Charlie, Lola, Marv, Lotta and Sizzles all have a wonderful time playing in it. But when the snow melts, Lola is quite upset, and Charlie must try and explain that it would lose its appeal if it snowed all the time.
Charlie and Lola's parents want them to clean their room. Charlie thinks this is a very good idea as there's so much stuff strewn about that it's hard to move around. Lola, however, feels that things in the room are not "untidy," they're merely "spread out." Charlie tries to show Lola how much easier it would be to find things if they were put away properly. Lola doesn't want to move anything, but she begins to reconsider when Charlie moves out.
Lola has found a new game to play --- spying --- observing things and pretending to write them down. While Charlie plays soccer with Marv, she does some "spying" with her imaginary friend Soren Lorensen and learns someone is moving in next door. Soren Lorensen thinks that it might be an ogre, but Lola has a different idea after seeing a name on an envelope.
Charlie has a new magic kit and dazzles Lola with his tricks. Lola asks him to teach her magic, but Charlie says that he can't --- it wouldn't be magic if he could. Lola thinks that if Charlie is magic, that must mean that she is too. With the help of her imaginary friend, Soren Lorensen, she does her best to do tricks, but comes up empty. She's ready to give up, but Charlie has some ideas to help.
Charlie invites his friends and Lola to a monster-themed party for his birthday, but Lola doesn't like the theme. Taking her parents' request to help out a little too far, she opens Charlie's cards for him and does some unauthorized "pretty" redecorating. When she takes things too far by switching the music for the party games, Charlie finds he's had enough. But Lola finds her own special way to help.
When Charlie and Lola's mum has a dentist appointment, they find themselves in a waiting room and rather bored. Everything they try to keep themselves entertained seems to irritate the lady at the desk. However, they use their imaginations to have a fun adventure.
Charlie has been making a collection of plastic dinosaur figures from cereal and Lola decides that she wants to start a collection too. However, she finds that it's harder than it seems. Her idea of collecting water is dismissed as "boring," and she tries collecting leaves, but it's nowhere near autumn. Nevertheless, she gathers a set of objects that don't seem to be a collection, but in fact have their own special way of going together.
Lola and Lotta have always been best friends. They do lots of things together and have had many great times. When Lotta is assigned to watch over a new girl named Evie at school, Lola begins to worry that she has lost her friend. It seems like now Lotta and Evie are doing everything together. Charlie tries to reassure Lola that they are still friends, but Lola is worried that she has lost Lotta forever.
Lola is feeling extremely lucky. It seems like all sorts of great things have been happening to her. Things only get better when Granny and Grandpa send money for tickets to the newest hit feature --- "Batcat." However, when Lola's luck takes a turn for the worse, she worries that she may never be lucky again.
Lola absolutely loves her shiny red shoes. But she can't find them and when she finally does, it turns out they're too small for her. Lola absolutely does not want to give up her shiny, bouncy shoes, but she may not have a choice...
Charlie has been growing a tomato plant. Lola doesn't really like tomatoes, but she's still fascinated by Charlie's plant. She decides to grow a plant of her own, but doesn't seem to have any luck. Charlie helps her to find just the right way to care for a plant.
Charlie and Lola are planning to put on their very own circus show. Lola wants to do forward rolls for the show, but is having trouble doing them without Charlie's help. They head to the park to practice their show and then Charlie plays some football with Marv. Lola hears Charlie crying and finds that he's hurt his arm. At first, she's upset when he can't do anything, but then she finds the perfect way to help him.
Lola really likes Lotta's new coat --- it's white and as soft as snow. She manages to convince Lotta to trade it for a clippy handbag of hers for the day and promises to take good care of it. As she goes out for the day, she manages to avoid several situations that could cause damage to the coat. Then she loses it at the library, and worries that Lotta won't be her friend anymore.
Charlie and Lola are excited about the prospect of a Chinese puppet show, but can't seem to stop squabbling with each other. They seem to fight about everything, getting into repetitive, pointless arguments. They eventually get placed in "simmer-down" chairs and are worried that they'll miss the puppet show. Together, they work on a constructive way to resolve their differences.
It's Sports Day at Charlie and Lolas' school and there are various activities being held. Each student is allowed to choose one activity to participate in. Charlie, Marv and Lotta all quickly find activities they're good at, but Lola struggles to find an activity. Lola eventually chooses the egg-and-spoon race and succeeds at in a unique way.
Lola is excited about the possiblity of caring after her class's pet guinea pig, Burt. Her classmates, however, seem to know more about guinea pigs than her, so she is delighted when she is, indeed, picked. Lola does her best to take care of Burt, learning many things she needs to know from Mrs. Hanson and learning others from her classmates. Lola sets up a guinea pig run for Burt, but then Burt escapes. That's when Lola and Charlie discover a surprising fact about Burt.
When Charlie's parents decide that he is responsible enough to have a pet, he gets a mouse named Nibbles. Both he and Lola soon begin having a lot of good times with Nibbles. They teach him many tricks and he proves to be the cleverest pet on "Bring Your Pet to School Day." When Nibbles passes away, Lola seems more broken up about it than Charlie. Charlie helps Lola to see that he's sad too, to cope with the loss and to ultimately celebrate what they both love about Nibbles.
When Lola loses her favorite stuffed toy, Foxy, she begins to worry that she will get lost too. She decides she's not going on the surprise school trip and manages to convince Lotta not to either. Charlie and Marv help the two out by telling them many different ways to get lost. Lola and Lotta begin to realize that if they're prepared, they don't have to worry about being lost.
When Lola finds Charlie and Marv studying Spanish, she asks them all sorts of questions about foreign countries. She wants to know how to get to them, what they eat there, what music they play and more. Then, together with Soren Lorenson, she creates Lolaland. This imaginary new country is an island shaped like Lola's face and features famous landmarks such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Big Ben. It even has its own language --- Lola Language.
Lola and Charlie are going to the zoo. Lola has a known problem with saving things for later and manages to eat her lunch before lunchtime and use up for photos before she gets to photograph what she really wants. When Lola starts borrowing Charlie's things, Charlie is patient. When Charlie is left without what he wants because of Lola's borrowing, Lola realizes that her not saving things is inconsiderate of others.
Lola hasn't slept with a night-light in a long time, but then she's spooked by a story with an ogre. Though Charlie tries to reassure her, she has nightmares and wants the lights on. Then, Charlie comes up with an idea to once again get her sleeping in the dark.
When Marv comes over to go on a trip with Charlie, he brings his little brother, Morten. Morten is about the same age as Lola and she's convinced he will want to play with her and become her new "friend down the stairs." Morten, however, seems to ignore all Lola's attempts to play with him and doesn't say a word. Lola begins to think Morten doesn't like her, but finds that sometimes it takes a while for some people to come out of their shell.
When the kids are all assigned to draw pictures of their homes for school, Lotta takes the assignment very seriously. While Charlie, Lola and Marv have fun making their pictures, she becomes frustrated when she can't get her walls exactly straight and the yellow marker runs out. Then, Charlie shows her pictures in his Dad's artwork. She learns about various styles of art --- all expressing great creativity and not necessarily entirely true-to-life.
When it comes to superstitions, Lola doesn't seem to completely understand the idea that sometimes people just spin tall tales that aren't really true. She's convinced that potatoes will grow if she doesn't wash behind her ears, and that there are vicious animals waiting to grab her should she step on a crack in the sidewalk. Amused at first by his sister's behavior, Charlie begins to realize that some of these tales are causing his sister genuine fear. He talks with her to help her understand that she shouldn't believe everything she hears.
When Lola sees the room of Marv's brother Marty, who never throws anything away, she resolves to get rid of all of her old stuff. Charlie encourages the project, but tells her that she should recycle it instead. Later, they receive a comic called Look After Your Planet that offers a prize of a tree to plant if you're able to collect enough stuff to recycle. Charlie and Lola do their best, but find that they need some help.
Lola is becoming frustrated with the reading, writing and counting she is learning at school. She's ready to give up, but Charlie doesn't think it's such a good idea. He does her best to convince her as to why it would be a good idea to learn these things. He helps her by reminding her of something that she wasn't good at, but got better by practicing.
Lola refuses to have her eyes tested at the optician's. She has tested them herself, 'and they are really very clever'. Until, that is, Mini Reader appears at school with the most beautiful pair of glasses Lola has ever seen. Now, Lola can't wait to have her eyes tested because she 'absolutely does need glasses'.
Lola asks, is there is a big hungry giant up in the sky with a rumbly tummy, or is the sky going to fall down? Wooden spoons and biscuit trays holds the answer to helping Charlie stop Lola from being frightened.
Lola is going to Lotta's house for her first ever sleepover, and it couldn't be more exciting. But, little by little, Lola realises everything is a bit different from her normal bedtime. Lotta brushes her teeth after bath time, not before! Even a midnight feast can't cheer her up. When it's finally time to put the light out, Lola admits that she wants to go home.
It's extremely hot and Charlie and Lola are trying to stay cool. Lola falls out with Arnold but ends up friends again.
Marv's Mum says that Sizzles really is a very naughty dog but Lola knows this isn't true. Sizzle just needs some practice! Charlie and Lola take Sizzles back to their flat and set about training him. Things aren't going well, until they discover that Sizzles will do anything for a sausage!
Lola and Lotta both love their tricycles but when Lotta is given her big cousin's bike. Now, Lola wants a big bike too! She gets Charlie's old one and is delighted. But when Lola gets to the park, she discovers that Lotta has taken her stabilisers off. Lola has to learn to ride without stabilisers too, and it's not as easy as it looks!
Lola and Lotta have got a pretend shop that sells everything. They're having great fun until they accidentally sell Charlie's swimming goggles to Morten, their only customer. Charlie wants his goggles back immediately, but Morten doesn't want to swap the goggles for anything.
Charlie and Marv have to come up with an invention for a school project by tomorrow. Lola reckons that she's an extremely good inventor too, and keeps interrupting their efforts with ideas of her own. The boys have got to invent something really fantastic and time is running out. Just as they are beginning to panic, Lola the Inventor stumbles on a brilliant idea!
When Charlie and Lola visit Granny and Grandpa they always build an extremely special sandcastle on the beach, and they always do it together. This time a little girl, and her whole family, is determined to join in and Lola's not too happy about it.
Lola and Lotta are practising their song for the school concert when Lola gets a fit of the hiccups. At first it's very funny, but soon she just wants her hiccups to go away. Everyone tries to help Lola get rid of her hiccups, but will they go before the big performance?
Lola thinks that she's good at listening. However, her not listening leads to problems at home and at school. When Arnold Wolf invites everybody to his house for a Batcat party, Lola doesn't listen to the instructions, and Charlie and Lola miss the party. Lola has to become a good listener.
Lola doesn't like the hat that Lotta gives her. It's itchy and it has 'dangly bits'. Even Soren Lorenson, Lola's imaginary friend, thinks it wouldn't be too bad if she lost the hat by accident. It's only when she really does lose it that Lola realizes her friendship with Lotta is more important.
Lola is sure that she is a good dancer. But some dancing is a bit too swirly, ballet is too floaty, while tap dancing is too shuffly and not tappy enough. Just when she thinks she will never ever be any good, Lola finds a way of combining all the different dances and coming up with one big special dance all of her own - Lola dancing.
Granny and Grandpa's cat, Caspar, has come to stay with Charlie and Lola. Lola loves looking after Caspar but keeps calling for Charlie's help. Lola and Lotta think that it's quite fun calling for Charlie and watching him come running. Fun, that is, until Caspar gets stuck up in the sky and Lola and Lotta really need Charlie's help.
Lola finds a toy rabbit outside her school and takes it home with her after nobody claims it by hometime. Charlie and Lola put up posters of the rabbit so that it's owner can claim it back but Lola eventually decides she would rather keep it for herself.
Charlie and Lola are having a day-trip to Marv's, but Lola is sure that it will be spoiled when it starts raining. She wanted to play in the park with Marv's dog, Sizzles, but it now seems that they're stuck inside playing rainy-day games. When Marv finds a box marked with promises of curing boredom with fun games, it looks like their luck may have changed.
Lola decides to be helpful like the hero of her book, Goody the Good.
Charlie, Lola, Lotta and Marv have been growing a pumpkin all year for the Halloween party. Lola can't decide what to wear, and the boy from downstairs shatters the pumpkin: the party is ruined!
Lola is distraught when she sees Charlie and Marv playfighting. To make things worse, someone called Jack is claiming to be Marv's new best friend. Lola and Lotta hatch a plan to get them back together - involving pirates!
Everyone is hooley hooping - Charlie, Marv, Lotta - in fact, the whole school is hooley hooping, and Lola has had enough. She decides to make up a new craze, but soon realises it's not as easy as you might think. Until she hits on 'Cuppy Catch-Ball'.
Charlie and Lola's parents let them go 'camping' in the garden. Charlie is kitted up like a real explorer, and is all excited by the prospect of wild animals, survival and living off the land, but Lola isn't so sure.
Having begged Granny and Grandad for a scooter, Lola suddenly decides that what she really wants is a pair of white, sparkly ice skates. Charlie warns her that they will end up like her yoyo, neglected at the bottom of her cupboard. But Lola is convinced that if she gets them she'll be the best ice skater in the whole school.
Lola and Lotta are adopting a panda and decide to raise money by getting sponsored to do difficult things. Charlie will balance an apple on his head, Marv will stand on one leg, Lotta is going to skip and Lola hop. Then Lola wakes up ill and Mum says she has to stay in bed. How will she save a panda now?
Playing Piggy in the Middle is fun, but you need other people. Charlie is going out and Lotta has a cold. So Lola has no one to play with - until she remembers her imaginary friend Soren Lorenson.
Lola and her best friend Lotta find out what a fossil is and are determined to find one. Charlie doesn't think they will. Undeterred, Lola searches her lunchbox, the sandpit and the rockery. They find all sorts of things, but no fossils.
Lola promises to play beads with her friend from school, but then Marv invites her to his space party on the same day! She did promise, but there's going to be games and cake at Marv's house.
