Collateral 2018

Well acted, well put together mini-series. However, the creators were so focused on delivering as many "social justice warrior"-driven story arcs (poor minority (lesbian, illegal, migrant...) female facing evil white male (anti-gay, anti migrant, sexual predator) that they forgot to write a truly compelling story. The 4th episode ends and you're like "meh, that's it? that's what I get for putting up with 3 hours of PC propaganda?" No thank you

A bit disappointing series. It starts interesting, then adds loads of characters and many side stories, adds a lot of moral messages and then in the end it's of course the evil white men (all white men in the series are at fault in one way or another) who dunnit. The series is slow-paced and at some point starts to be very predictable. And it could really have done without several of the point less side stories.
This is one of the lesser BBC mini series.

Right up there wth the best BBC crime dramas! Stellar cast; engaging plot; timely story. Everything about this was good. I give it a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Crime Mystery Thriller]

shows shouldn't be allowed to be this bad

While watching I liked the show. But the last episode was a real bummer to me.

I don't agree with other comments. While the casting and acting is pretty good overall, the plot wasn't on par with it. One could pretty much know the outcome halfway through :/

So psyched to see Carey Mulligan play a badass pregnant crime deductive! and casting Ahd is the BEST having an Arab playing an Arab is finally done right, the whole show was done right

A better than average British crime drama. It was jam-packed with just about every social issue you can think of. Carey Mulligan plays a strong, silent, kickass, type DI. And most impressive of all, Mulligan was actually pregnant while shooting this series.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

In the end a disappointment. Even Jon Simm and Billie Piper, whom I both like to see very much, couldn't save this.
An illegal iraqi immigrant, who was brought in by an english human trafficker as cheap labor, gets shot by a traumatized british soldier who just wanted "to kill some terrorist" and is harrassed by her superior officer. That's the simplified version but it covers the general story. Than you get the side plots. A lesbian vicar living with yet another illegal. The MP, whos ex-wife is a gambling and drug addict and full of self pity, who is also in disagreement with his party over just about anything. In a strange and highly coincidental way they are all connected. Add a little bit of drug dealing and a secret agent and you get a mess of a story. It's just too much.
You have an unpleasant lead character who ultimately accomplishes nothing but burning an agent and finding a way to keep the sisters of the murdered iraqi in country. The bad guy gets away and the soldier commits suicide. Did I leave something out ?

I'd recommend it. it took me a while to get past the first episode. But overall it is up there with most crime shows running on BBC.
