HUAN is sentenced to death. Having witnessed the execution, ZHI is struck dumb with fear. YAO has found XIA eventually. She mistakes ZHI for XIA’s son, and is burning with anger and jealousy. She assaults ZHI with force and poison, and compels XIA to marry her. She threatens that she will not provide the antidote if XIA rejects the marriage.
