Cross Ange is a masterpiece. AOTS. No scratch that... Anime of the Year.

Putting the rapes scenes aside, this could easily become AOTS. I hope they don't screw it.
There's, unfortunately, a LOT of sexist shit coming out of Japan that serves entirely as fanservice to otaku. This is both the most sexist and the most shit you can imagine. Even occasionally decent animation and music can't cover up the complete lack of substance and the fact that you see more boobs and ass than face.

[9/10] If you want a great sci-fi story about human nature, social engineering, racism, and discrimination with complex character relationships this might be right for you. If you can't overlook some sexual content then you might want to pass.
What's Good: The characters are really good (not one dimensional), the story is well done and paced. I'm not a mecha fan but the fights are not the focus nor drawn out. There is a large cast of strong recurring female characters that are done well. There are only three recurring male characters but this is not a harem and works with the plot.
What's Bad: Explicit lesbian sexual content: This is primary isolated to the first few episodes (three scenes, PUSH THROUGH IT, it's worth it) when the character is first sent to a all female "prison" (this is reminiscent of the show "Orange is the New Black" and unfortunately probably more realistic than sexist). Other than the fact that there are clear lesbian couple it's mostly dropped after that. I would assume this is what "acidfreecookies" is calling sexist (unfairly discriminatory against one sex in favor of the other) but I would disagree. The most sexist thing about it is that basically all males are the "bad guys" except one who is often a bumbling klutz.
