Writer and broadcaster Danny Leigh on the screenwriter who co-directed Performance with Nicolas Roeg in 1968.

After Performance, Cammell holed up in Holywood writing scripts that didn't make it to the screen.

He finally directed one of his own scripts againin 1987, the serial killer flick White of the Eye. Another eight years later, Cammell directed Christopher Walken in Wild Side. He died a year later.
