One of the most perfectly interlinked and suspense TV show I have ever seen..
It's an awesome anime
kawaii anime
This is a very good anime indeed. Still, I don't get, why people call it 'the best anime'. I feel like the show started deteriorating after the death of L. It somehow felt forced. The ending is also quite disappointing and - in contrast to the rest of the show - predictable. Too bad, they messed the final third or so up.
Death Note is great. It contains an insanely unique plot and has remarkable, memorable characters. Its art style is highly detailed and fits the mood of the story quite nicely. I can say the same of the soundtrack. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something to make them think or anyone looking to get into anime.
Though I did enjoy its live-action television drama from this year more, this was a good show and I do not regret watching it in the slightest.
One of the most perfectly interlinked and suspense TV show I have ever seen..
Solid plot mini anime series well worth the fuzz around it and easy top 5.
If the second half of the show would have been better, I'd give it a 10. I found the ending most satisfying.
Love this show :D
Just started watching it.Its really good!
I enjoyed death note quite a lot at the beginning. Though once you get to the part where (SPOILER) L dies, which is about the middle part gets slow and quite boring until you get towards the end. I liked it, but it is not really an anime i would recommend out of everything i’ve watched.
Really enjoyed the show esp the first half.
I gave this a pretty bad rating more than a year ago after having only "watched" (fast-forwarded) 2 episodes. Being bored, I recently started to watch the show properly and powered through the 2 first episodes after which the show just took off and I couldn't stop binge watching it. Like many comments I've read, I felt the first 3rd of the show was the best part, but the later parts manage to keep it interesting enough even though slightly repetitive. I think that I initially dismissed this show due to the premise, paranormal notebook which enables writer to kill people whose name have been written in. At first glance, it's seems silly but the show makes up for it by turning it into a great thriller.
definitely my favorite anime, 100% recommend :bangbang:
Finished the series .. must watch and deserving on the top list .... i loved it and was my first anime ... thanks for the comments before to recommend and loved it from inner heart. I missed both
L and Light
First 25 episodes are amazing 10/10. After that it isnt that good really.
one of the best show of the last 100 years. strongly #1. & i don't think the movie would do it's justice, it will horribly flop.
Epic anime. Definitely deserves the praise it gets. Not quite perfect but pretty damn close.
ahahahahahahh i've watched death note like 8 times at least by now. i am so sane about death note (definitely is not my special interest whatsoever) anyone who dropped it after episode 25 or just hated it after episode 25 fuck you and you literally don't even deserve to see those 12 episodes. literally the best character was only introduced episode 31 and also near and mello were some bomb-ass characters. and no near is not a rip-off of L. literally some of the best scenes of death note were after episode 25.
out of like the 6 somewhat important female characters (excluding shinigamis), only 3 of them i could actually tolerate. misa and takada were just plain annoying, literally their only personality trait was that they loved Light (understandable since he is quite the good-looking man) . sayu and sachiko weren't ever explored as characters and very forgettable. Naomi misora died way to soon and i would have liked her to have been more invovled but that would most likely make it easier for when the task force actually catches light as kira. halle lidner and wedy were both actually wonderful female characters and were useful and not annoying and irritating like some of the other characters.
the idea of gods of death and death notes was very interesting. since using the death note meant all you needed was a name and face and didnt have to be present for the murder made it easy to use. the shinigami eye deal was also interesting because like higuchi made the deal when he was soon to be caught and needed a escape. the shingamis were fun, like ryuk and how he was laughing everytime naomi misora said her name since he knew it was a fake and light didn't and how rem killed L and watari because of her love for misa and also when sidoh helped out mello and the mafia for a chance to get his notebook back.
it was very good overall and i recommend. it was my first anime and was an introduction to anime for me so i highly recommend if you wanna start getting into anime. 10/10 i love death note
Truly anime at its best and very accessible if people are turned off to common anime tropes and are looking for entry to it. It is a high stakes crime suspense/drama that is one of the best iterations of cat-and-mouse style narratives I’ve seen to this day. This is the type of series you can’t just watch one episode of, you’ll find yourself binging even if you don’t have the time, just to satisfy each cliffhanger that leaves more hanging than the last.
While it prides itself in logical detective suspense, there are also supernatural elements that add another layer. However, the fantasy side of the story only compliments where the core of the appeal of the show lies, which is a chess-like rat race to the finish.
I rated it a 9 because as a long time fan who’s seen this show through many times, you do find many cases of plot armor and convenience throughout the series. But don’t let that deter you, as a first watch it’ll still be one of the most thrilling rides you’ll experience!
As someone who's not really big into anime this might just be one of the best shows I've ever watched. Hooks you in quick and leaves you clicking next episode over and over until the very end.
This anime best for beginners to start watching anime.
top tier everyone must watch 3 times
really good... Great plot twists... unique story... don't really like the animation....was really exciting but got a bit boring when L died
The Sherlock of anime truly
coming from somebody that doesn't even really love anime this is the greatest show I've ever seen
This show’s reputation precedes it, and it really is that good. Tetsuro Araki’s direction is phenomenal, adding flair to the already dramatic story. It requires the audience to pay close attention, but if they do, they will be rewarded with a stellar first half, an engaging second, and a masterful end.
The last episode was both off putting and satisfying. What a classic.
Great initially and visually iconic, Death Note slowly falls apart by the end with a conclusion that raises the question: what was it all for?
Up till episode 25: 9/10
Anything after that: 6/10
Could have had a better ending and I wasn't really a big fan of the newer characters, but overall it's a great show and a must watch.
How the hell have I never seen this before!? This masterpiece, such... I am speechless. Yagami Light, I would say he is the best villain of all time. A man who is so intelligent and who is also a prisoner of it. This was no longer an attempt to make the world a better place, but rather a demonstration of Light's insane power, or rather his insanity. And how far he was willing to go with it. All because he was bored. This series gives you the option to be either for or against Light, because it's all a matter of perspective. There is no such thing as good and bad, only human-made structures. And of course I love Ryuzaki too, series favorite. Fucking love it.
Still one of the best anime release to this date, can’t recommend it enough
I have read the manga back in the day but never happened to watch the animated series. It looks like a faithful adaptation, with good pacing and an overly dramatic tone that makes up for the lack of action and suits the story well. More than opening a new page in the history of animation, it went along the emerging trends of the time in Japan and delivered a taut psychological thriller able to appeal to audiences beyond the anime/manga niche. Unfortunately, things start to get a little monotonous after the first dozen episodes, with the same cat and mouse game being repeated on a gradually larger scale with different characters. It sometimes feels like the writer is too busy preparing the next plot twist rather than focusing on character development or moral dilemmas.
Well done whoever made the ending you have ruined the show you have screwed it up so much that its unbearable without complaining well done imagine making a good show that could have been so amazing even a masterpiece and yet somehow you managed to screw it hope you can see this comment
I watched this via Netflix
I'm not a person who watches a lot of anime, and still, I really enjoyed it.
I didn't give it 10/10 because I felt that there were several points where the story became repetitive and predictable, still it's enjoyable, and the characters (except Light, I hate that dude) lighten the plot load and help make it develop cleanly.
I loved the character of L, he was, I think, the best of this anime.
The final chapters had a somewhat abrupt development and it seems that they just wanted to finish the show as well as possible and that's it.
A predictable but fair ending, I liked it, despite everything.
Such a great show with well written characters and story, but I feel it got pretty slow after episode 25. The ending was weak, but I don't think it was bad, just lacking something. Oh well.
Just getting into the 1st few episodes.....but I like it so far....****...for now ta ta!
So goooooood. Pacing is great, it'll have you on the edge of your seat!
I loved this short series...
Anyone know more short series like this?
the very big ever problem on this is shingamy apple
This show is full of suspence. A must watch Anime. Though Iam a diehard Naruto fan, but I would rate death note above Naruto.
The series starts off with a twist to reality and as it progresses the rules to play by become easy to follow.
The twist of being right by the people that want him to be captured creates tension till the very end.
Best show I've ever seen, wish there were more like it.
If only mainstream culture was more accepting of anime, this would be up there with Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.
Death Note series is the best anime out there... but movie its a crap.. :(
It's like Prison Break in anime!
Watch the episodes, read the manga and watch the movies, different endings, all of them great.

It's hard to believe how well this was put together at times. I'd say the first 10 episodes are definitely the best, after that the story line has reached a point where it's less exciting. That doesn't mean the rest of it is bad though, not at all.
One thing that striked me is that there were often tensions moments when Light get's interrogated. Ever time when it seems like he's getting caught he comes up with another waterproof lie/alibi to trow off any suspicion. Which is what I meant by the first sentence.
I actually got a Death Note book as a gift after I finished the series :)
