Epic. Fabulous. The Last of season. Time to say goodbye.
Really great finale, might be one of my favorite finales I've seen in a long time
Truly genius what the hell. Stefen Moffat went all in on his first season in charge. This is crazy smart.
10/10
All Gold
Absolutely Outstanding
and Sensational,
Epic On A Different Level
to be fair and Matts performance as
The Doctor is off the charts.
Holy-smokes this season
finale was the gift that
kept on giving.
The writing of this season
Two parter was Phenomenal
and Doctor Who at it's
Best. The way it all tied up
and connected all the little
hints from this season was
Insane and completely genius.
That last 20 minutes brought
tears to my eyes because
What The Doctor did
was
Frickin Awesome Amazing
and one of the most
Ambitious feats I've witnessed
in Who thus far.
Can not wait to Reboot
everything and start again
with season 6
and that's when everything changes Hella Yeah.
Doctor Who Will Return
For The Christmas Special

I don't like the setup. Leaving random notes so this little girl can ignore her mother so she can stay behind in the museum while the mother is frantic with worry, and wouldn't Amelia have been found? Because the mother would have got security and then the police to check everywhere. Nevermind.
The point is, by just putting a little more thought into the writing, you can write it better. You can write it better and have it make more sense, thereby bettering the setup and increasing the quality of the episode. But no Moffat would rather do a whimsical style, and then a "cool" twist at the end of the cold open with the adult Amelia Pond inside the pandorica. Nevermind, i'll roll with it.
So the nonsensical scene at the end of the last episode actually happened, that of every star going supernova and only earth being the last thing i guess in the universe, because it's at the "eye of the storm" of history collapsing. Earth is somehow perfectly fine, and the history of earth happened in mostly the same way afterwards, somehow.
Ugh.
Psychic message for Amy from the doctor for later. Okay i guess.
I've always had this question in my mind ever since i first watched this episode, that of how did the doctor first escape from the Pandorica? To give Rory the screwdriver to open it in the first place. Not answered, it was just an "impossible" (dumb and nonsensical) thing that happened.
Ugh.
The doctor says history has collapsed because of the tardis exploding. How does that happen? Okay i guess, just sci-fi shenanigans, not too bad. But the reason for the tardis exploding randomly isn't explained this episode, it's set up for next season, so we don't know the logical events leading up to the tardis exploding and how it logically affects anything. A lot of it just seems like nonsense, as is the explanation of "after images". Rory software so it isn't and yet is the same Rory, yet he's still alive afterwards what just happened i guess. Pandorica actually ressurects you and keeps you alive... Turn your brain off and have fun nonsense. Well sorry i can't turn my brain off for a sci-fi show that used to be really good and logically lead up to events. I mean Bad Wolf was a bit sloppy with Rose leaving those messages throughout the doctor's journey, but it wasn't nearly as convoluted as this.
Ugh.
The exploding tardis produced just enough heat to keep the earth warm and the rest of the universe was wiped from existence? And it's a "slow" process to wipe away our heroes from existence?
The pandorica contains a memory of the universe? What?
Throwing the pandorica into the exploding tardis will reboot the universe, because the light from the pandorica is that powerful and expansive (powered from the energy of the exploding tardis) it will then shine everywhere all at once in the universe, i guess, and it will then reboot it.
Part of the drama and unpredictability of these two finale episodes is lowered because we know things will be okay in the end because future River mentioned this event in a previous episode.
Ugh.
Being anomalies at the eye of the storm is an interesting idea, but doesn't really make sense.
After 2000 years Rory would be one of the most wisest and knowledgeable and mature humans ever. He'd be a completely different person. Even within one lifetime most of us change in personality, so imagine how different Rory is.
Nah he's the same Rory as if 2000 years never happened.
Ugh.
Even with all ths criticism, i do quickly headcanon quite a few things that i'm not talking about that help me make sense of the episode. Like maybe the tardis or the doctor or the companions interfered with the remaking of the universe to have an indirect influence on it reverting to a better/normal state in order for things to turn out right. So i do headcanon some things and give stories more benefit of the doubt than you might think.
I do like Amy getting her family back though, and having the whole crack in the walls plotline resolved.
I did like the interludes from the doctor from the future, and the whole fake death thing.
I do like the dynamic between River and the doctor.
There's some interesting ideas in the episode, it just wasn't cohesive enough for me.
I liked the emotion and drama at the wedding, getting the doctor back, the happy moments at the wedding and then Rory and Amy going off to have more adventures with the doctor.
