interesting concept of law firm series, tender and different, fresh..
This was a Netflix hit for a reason! Episodic in nature, with each episode (or two) focusing on a case. The cases that they took on were fresh, and it was refreshing to see unique situations that lead to needing all the members of the team to come together.
Again, Park Eun-bin absolutely shines. She has true talent, making Woo Young-Woo come to life with refreshing honesty.
The supporting cast are also A+ (even Joo Jong-hyuk, playing Mr.Bad Coworker Kwon Min-woo). I think this could be a gateway Kdrama for many people - in the same way 'Crash Landing on You' was.
Best kdrama of 2022 so far. From intro to credits, everything is perfect. Plot is refreshing, characters are interesting. This is a smart, funny, sensitive series with none of the usual repetitive digressions that are all too common in most K-dramas. The acting is EXCELLENT, and it's obvious that Park Eun-bin really lived up to her reputation for hard work in researching the mannerisms of an autistic lawyer who, while high-functioning, must cope with fixations, coordination issues and hyper-sensitivity to physical stimuli.....
Absolutely adorable! Woo Young-Woo is such a nice character greatly portrayed by Eun-Bin!
16 episodes are not enough!!!
I want more!!!
To me, a very mediocre k-drama.
The characters are predominantly caricatures, and VERY inconsistent ones while at it.
The plot is boring and the plight of the leads isn't interesting. It throws in makjang elements, but those never serve to make the overarching storyline interesting.
The production is of course excellent, though I wouldn't say there was any memorable music / OST.
The legal angle is in some ways very good, in others the typical ridiculous case-procedural in which a court battle takes a week from start to finish rather than a year. (Yes, how else would a TV show work.)
There were a bunch of filler episodes, especially the double episodes, and I wouldn't call the ending satisfactory.
Top top top top top
The show has some flaws and weaknesses, you certainly shouldn't expert a realistic portrayal of attorneys or the legal system in general.
It's just not very immersive when you frequently register that all the elite lawyers struggle with basics that even a viewer with no legal background can immediately register, just so that the 'genius' main character gets an opportunity to shine.
But that is a not too relevant factor. The show offers all essentials of a feel-good show, with some excellent actors and episodes. It certainly provides plenty of drama and entertainment. I'd love to see a second season.
[Netflix] Skillfully uses the autism syndrome that was already used in the Korean k-drama "The good doctor" (2013) to offer a representation of some of the problems of a society that is torn between modernity and tradition. And although some of its themes can be controversial, it manages to balance itself between weepy soap opera, silly comedy and the generational drama of a kind of Amélie in a hostile world.
This show has some strong moments, but is also pretty formulaic and at times, patronizing. I had to roll my eyes each time they had Woo miraculously solving a case and it cut to whale footage. Did they really have to do that in every episode?
This was only my fourth Korean Drama and my first with Park Eun-bin in the lead role, and WOW what a performance! It earned her a Best Actress nomination in both 2022 and 2023 and the Bang Sang Grand Prize in 2023, as well as, the Rising Star Critics Choice Award. The story is laid out in episode arcs of one case at a time legal drama, but, it is the ensemble work that caries the series arc.. When I watch non-English media, I always prefer to listen to it in it’s original languages with English subtitles (I pick up new vocabulary in other languages this way), but this series had so much rapid fire legalese in it that my reading couldn’t keep up with the dialogue. It became a dramatic pace killer to have to stop, rewind and pause to read the full caption so I had to admit defeat and resort to the much hated dubbed English. (RANT - the process of dubbing changes the words to facilitate the mouth movements of the actors, compromising the script. Additionally, the quality of the original performances is greatly altered by the process, stealing the actor’s voice and the nuances of their delivery of dialogue - RANT OVER). But, in this case, it allowed me to capture the legal arguments and didn’t interrupt the flow of the drama, so it was the best solution. I loved the cases and the personal dramas. There were so many moments when Attorney Woos autistic perspective heightened how to see the world and the actions of it’s inhabitants. I give this series an 8 (charmingly enlightening) out of 10. "Thanks to the support of many people, we will produce Season 2 of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo.’ The goal is to air Season 2 in 2024."
There are two things in this world that make me avoid a lot of media - female leads and romance. I don't know why, but both of these put me off. Maybe it's because I'm a tomboy, but most female characters just annoy the hell out of me. I don't like them and I hate seeing romance thrown into the middle of a really good plot.
This show has both. However... It blew past my expectations! The lead girl, Youngwoo, is just so adorable and sweet, she's not annoying at all and I just wanna hug her and protect her from this cruel world. I'm also rooting for her to find someone that will love and respect her! This reminds me of Kimi ni Todoke in a lot of ways because I felt the same way about that lead girl. I honestly love her so much and want to be her friend :sob:
This show literally took me through the entire rainbow of emotions - I felt happiness, sadness, pride, anger, disappointment, frustration... I laughed and I cried and I cursed and, most importantly, I couldn't stop smiling. God, this show is top tier in every way. It's rare for me to find a show that I love so completely but this definitely makes that list.
I know it's too much to hope for but... I really want a second season or at least a movie.
I felt that this was a pretty good show. I don't want Kdramas, because they remind me of the shows from India (my nationality) that are always over the top and unrealistic. I watched this after watching ep3 when my sister was watching it in the living room. What initially made me interested was the lawyer part of the show and the seemingly realistic portrayal of autism, especially in episode 3. I'm a psych major and so I felt that the show was doing a good job of expressing autism to the audience, especially in Korea where I am aware that it's not as respected or understood by their society. The show did have the Kdrama feel here and there especially with the characters Jun-ho and Min-woo. In addition, the law part of the lawyer show was sort of obvious, as in there where times where I could probably say what was wrong in the case before Young-woo did. Whatever, I found it enjoyable to see her shine. I really appreciate the main actress in portraying the character with such realness, to the point where I was frequently impressed with her transformation into the character. The stories in the episodes were also pretty good as they were clearly there to have the audience's morals questioned on topics like N. Korean defectors and the LGBT community. To American audiences, perhaps these seem trivial but I have a feeling that to Korean viewers, there were a few topics in this season that got some exposure that they don't usually get. Regardless, here I am after watching my first Kdrama lol. Can't say I'm too unhappy with it - I'll be back for season 2.
it's bullshit they're cancelling all the good shows:rage:
loved it
woo yang woo is soo adorable
As @luckz said, this drama is pretty mediocre in terms of plot, so many things going on but they never really focus on any of them. Production is great. It's alright if you think of it as a slice of life about attorneys.

What a waste of character development
After the media being insanely crazy about this series i knew i had to take my time and watch it all at once, and not gonna lie, it had me mesmerized for 8 episodes on a row but the thing with this... the second half of the serie doesn't add to much other than Woo Youngwoo development as a character and then every case taken by them as lawyers felt... forced into the story to get her into situations that she will finally overcome; said that, the rest of character were as charming as her but yet we barely know about their lifes; Myeong Seok having cancer out of nowhere was a way for them to go all to Jeju Island and nothing more, Kwon Minwoo being a villain that doesn't really have any chance to change into a nice person, his relationship with Suyeon was weird to watch, Geurami had the potential to be one of the best side character but she get lost in the second half, as for the story I do agree the legal part of it was good, it's a nice legal drama and Park Eunbin delivered a decent acting tho I don't know if the representation was good or bad neither it's my place to give my opinion.
Watch it if you want a "make you feel good" serie but don't expect to much onto the story or characters other than the female lead.
My score: 7.5/10
