Fitting. The show is entertaining enough, but feels like it plays much more to the comedy than the cultural authenticity. There are over-the-top stereotypes scattered all throughout the cast, main and one-off characters alike.
For a truer-to-life representation of the "Asian immigrant family", I'd definitely recommend Kim's Convenience. Sure, the Kims are Korean, and immigrated to Canada, but I sense a lot more realism and relatability in those characters. (It also helps that that show has received glowing praise from the Korean-Canadian community. I've not seen such recognition for Fresh Off the Boat.)
