Well... I'll give it a few more episodes, but as of now, I'm not really feeling this one.
The whole season was too short for my liking, I wish there was at least one more episode to really let the main cast's relationships and developments shine because I do like the characters a lot but I don't think anyone reached their full potential sadly.
I haven't even watched The Boys and I still think I found a new favorite show.
Also, Jordan is so relatable and I love them.
This "spinoff" really doesn't feel like one. When I hear people say the word spinoff, I expect some forgettable show barely anyone will watch or talk about that's highly unlikely to get a season two. So when I heard that a spinoff of one of my favorite superhero franchises was coming I shrugged and said "Cool". I had the same thoughts as I did when "The Boys Presents: Diabolical" was announced and released, I didn't even know, and when I found out I didn't bother watching it. So to my surprise when I gave this a shot, it genuinely impressed me with how good it is. Out of all the things I'm watching concurrently with this, including the shows that air on Thursday, I see this before anything.
It flows so simply from the end of season 3 of The Boys, that I'm surely going to be confusing GEN V as if it's season 3.5 of The Boys before the actual season 4 releases. These characters are excellent too, and I say this as a person who's not into characters as much as others. GEN V really does love its characters, and it's felt through almost every line of dialogue. I feel myself becoming so quickly invested in them, even the ones I expected not to care at all about.
On a side note, It's kind of weird how consistently The Boys' universe is up to date with current times and social trends. It gives me a very small amount of whiplash when I hear a conversation that clearly references Wanda vision or one of the side characters being a blatant but tasteful trans allegory, especially when that's the current "bad thing" as being gay was in whatever 2000's era of society.
While this didn't have the cleanest ending (kinda rushed and the writing wasn't as consistently strong in the final episodes) I'd still recommend it to people who like The Boys as something worth seeing while waiting for a new season or as a fun show for the whole family :)
This exceeded my expectations. The setting didn't feel annoying like a university setting usually is in shows. The characters here are also surprisingly good. It started off very strong aswell with something grabbing you in every second. The ending was also kinda weak, though.

Gen V avoids the risk of being a lacklustre spin-off by changing the point of view: here we have some still (relatively) naive and (relatively) innocent youngsters who happen to live in the shitty and bloody world of The Boys. And what we get is a show that feels temathically in sync with its mother series but finds its own identity, generating some emotional punch and even being quite smart in how it connects to the other show. I’m not sure I loved the season finale, more or less in the same way I’m not sure I love the season finales of The Boys.
A spin off from "The Boys". Lot's of violence, grotesque murders and foul language! Perfect if you like The Boys, which is one of my favorite shows.
Young teen wannabe superheroes at school to learn, in fact they are being observed by the powers that be. Some interesting twists and turns and how some of the teenagers grow their power's. Well worth a watch :thumbsup_tone1:

So I have to admit that I think the best parts of this series are it's ties to the main show and the rich universe that it's happening in. On a few occasions I found that this show pandered a bit to Gen Z viewers and grout along some uninteresting teenage drama with that baggage but overall I've enjoyed the ride.
The acting isn't as good as it is in The Boys, but who could expect it to be when the main show has an absolutely star studded cast. Same goes with the writing, while it's not perfect, it certainly gets the job done and entertains with the same gory, shocking and crude style.
I am glad that season 2 is confirmed but I hope they don't intertwine the shows all that much. I like the idea of having the seasons staggered with the main show as 8 episodes never seem like enough and this will serve as something like a solid appetizer while we're waiting for the main course.
This was such a treat. Like, it would have been easy to make a simple and mediocre spin-off to The Boys since fans would definitely watch it and want to keep up with the universe, but this show absolutely stands out as its own thing with a compelling story and characters while still managing to remain connected to The Boys in meaningful ways. You can see where the events of this show will lead in the greater universe, but it still has its own great standalone story. Manages to comment on a lot of topics surrounding emerging adulthood and college life/relationships as well, but all still with that The Boys lens, which makes for some really interesting and entertaining moments. The twists and turns of the characters were executed well, and the story kept going in different directions from what I expected in really intriguing ways. Overall this was just really engaging, exciting, and interesting. Has the type of stuff you love from The Boys, but packaged a little differently and presented with its own unique themes and characters. Don't love it as much as The Boys at least for now, but all around this was good stuff.

Maybe the season was cut short so they had to rush the finale, I don't know.
I don't feel "The Boys" vibes, in fact I don't feel anything about this tv show. Did you watch "Bodies", this is a good surprise ?
