The wealthy Coleman family living in the small town of Dixon are shaken when the Waterwoods, another wealthy family with ties to the Colemans move back home. Old flames and scorned enemies twist personal goals and a celebrational gala ends in havoc that begins a wicked war between families.
Charlie and Leah go to marriage counseling to sort out their differences. Ryan and Carli give Rose an insight on their past with the Colemans. Violet looks back on what her night with Evan meant. Luke works up the nerve to stand up to his family.
Rose is suspicious of Evan as he and Violet fall for each other. Leah and Carli clash at a community Bingo game, and Charlie goes shopping for watches with Luke.
Leah is mugged and suspects a relative is behind it. Ryan offers Violet a job but she doesn't know how to handle it along with the rest of her responsibilities. Rose wonders if she is projecting her personal feelings onto Violet's relationship with Evan.
In fear that Evan will break Violet's heart like her ex broke hers, Rose threatens Evan to end things with Violet. Meanwhile, Charlie has trouble making friends with other parents, Carli finds secrecy in her marriage, and Leah confronts her cousin, Arthur, about the mugging.
Carli suspects that Ryan is cheating on her with Leah, and advice from Rose creates an anxious Violet and makes her question Evan's genuinity.
Feeling like a third wheel, Luke falls for the wrong person. Carli gives Ryan a chance to prove his faith but he seems distant. Charlie tries to reignite his and Leah's romance, but to no prevail.
When Ryan reveals his affair, Carli flees Dixon with Rose. Evan acknowledges Luke's feelings for Violet. Charlie and Leah want to be on the same page but struggle to be.
Violet moves into her new penthouse and Luke and Evan fight over her. Rose drags Carli back to Dixon while Charlie and Leah go through a challenging divorce.
When Ryan tells Carli things are over between them, she lashes out at an unsuspecting Leah and ends up in an insane asylum. Meanwhile, Luke, Violet, Evan and Rose stand up against the parents to show them how childish their actions are.
In the winter finale, Charlie ends up in a dangerous situation when trying to visit Carli, while Rose and Violet bicker over money given to them from their parents. Meanwhile, Ryan and Leah leave for a secret getaway and Luke feels that Evan has pushed him aside.
In the spring premiere, Ryan and Leah return to Dixon while Charlie is officially reported a missing person. Meanwhile, Rose wants to start her own dynasty, and Evan improves on making respective time for Luke, Violet, and work.
Evan moves in with Violet. Rose helps Luke find his footing. Ryan and Leah try to keep their romance a secret, and news of Charlie’s death surfaces.
Carli reunites with Rose after being released from the psych ward, and realizes she is a failure. Meanwhile, Ryan tries to comfort Leah as Charlie’s funeral nears and Violet begins to worry when she experiences frequent headaches.
A family reunion is held at the Coleman manor, and the family's giant problems make the house seem small. Meanwhile, Violet explores her medical mystery.
Violet copes with a difficult diagnosis. Leah begs her family members to go home but they insist on staying. Violet is hurt when Evan dumps her due to them being step-siblings now. Luke signs up for a safe haven program to make a change in the world.
Rose discovers there is a mineshaft underneath the Coleman manor, and goes to explore. Leah pressures Ryan into ending things with Carli - officially. Violet has little hope, thanks to her tumour. Luke gets a call from the program he signed up for.
Rose uses what she found underneath the manor as a way to launch her company, to prove her mother wrong about being a failure. Meanwhile, Carli and Ryan divorce and Violet discovers her only chance at survival is a risky surgery with a twenty-five percent success rate.
Violet undergoes a dangerous operation to remove her brain tumour that could save her life - or end it.
Leah believes her whole entire family has gone home, but one relative, Amanda Coleman, stays back to stir up some trouble. Violet remains in a coma after her brain surgery. Rose wants to do whatever it takes to be successful.
Amanda pretends to be someone looking for a job at Rose's company to get insider info and take down Rose. Evan loses hope that Violet will ever wake up. The safe haven program calls Luke again despite his unenrollment.
Carli tries to convince Rose that Amanda is up to no good, but Rose doesn't want to believe anything coming from her mother. Leah and Ryan announce their marriage to the public, to the dislike of Luke. Meanwhile, Evan sits by Violet's side in the hospital.
Amanda and Rose, now business partners, go out for drinks, but somehow Rose wakes up the next morning in Canada, with no memory of what happened the night before, and so a frantic Carli and an annoyed Ryan come to her rescue.
As the mineshaft under Coleman manor slowly collapses, Rose is finally on to Amanda, Carli tries to mend her broken relationship with her daughter, and Ryan and Leah plan their wedding. Meanwhile, Luke takes Evan out to buy a wedding gift to take his mind off Violet's coma.
In the season finale, a wedding present of terror is brought to Ryan and Leah's wedding when the mine shaft collapses and Coleman manor comes crumbling down with it, leaving many lives hanging in the balance.
