In the conclusion of the two-part winter finale, Avery and Amanda fly home after the successful surgery that saved Avery's life, but celebrations end early when their plane crashes into an island in the middle of the ocean, leaving Amanda fighting for her life and Avery missing. Leah visits the stables in Dixon in an effort to bring back memories of Daniel, but gets run over by a horse and is left unconscious and bleeding.
