Lady Lairds follows the trials, tribulations and successes of four women over a year as they run their Scottish Highland estates and country houses. Joanna moves up from her successful career in London to take over running the huge Attadale estate from her parents, and with a house full of guests, she is thrown in at the deep end at the Highland games. At Loch Fyne, Lady Laird Tuggy faces a major test to see if her new brewery is up to standard, and at the Auchlyne estate, Emma is making sure every lamb is gathered from the hills for the market as daughter Emma tries to find extra money-making opportunities.

Lady Laird Joanna continues to learn the ropes of how to run a Highland estate as she takes over the massive Attadale estate from her parents in Lochcarron, while the head stalker Tom decides that it is time to move on. At the Traquair estate in the Borders, Catherine hosts as many events as possible to keep the oldest inhabited house in Scotland running smoothly, and at the Auchlyne estate, Emma ploughs on with tradition hoping her prize-winning Highland cows come out on top at the Oban cattle show, while daughter Nicola decides it is time she made some changes.
