[7.6/10] Another fun bit of lego and Star Wars-themed irreverence. This is basically an excuse to have a random dose of Clone Wars-related fun, but the search for R2-D2 gives the thing the slightest bit of storytelling structure. The short makes good use of the Lego medium, with force users reassembling enemies into ships and the like. The thing is a little overly toyetic, but I suppose that’s unavoidable under the circumstances.
I will admit that there’s a mild thrill to seeing the cast from Clone Wars done up in bricks and going on adventures. Cody and Rex on Hoth, Artoo on Tatooine, Anakin and Ahsoka flying through the asteroid field from Ep. V, and Dooku, Grievous, and Ventress hanging out on the conspicuously identified “Evil Base” is all aces. The short mixes and matches various iconic bits from Star Wars (and even, briefly, Indiana Jones) in amusing ways, and has fun with a lighter take on the saga.
Overall, this is basically just loose, Lego-based irreverence, but I’m here for it.
