This was written by David Gerold (who wrote a bit for Star Trek, too) but he decided to use his pseudonym so to not be recognized. I don't understand his reasoning.
This was by far the best episode. Very complex for the time it was made. There is emotional investment, it's smart and it's also finally a real science fiction story.
