Sara Cox goes back to her farming roots as she meets eight singletons living in the countryside as they begin their journey to find love. All eight participants have created detailed online dating profiles, in the hope of meeting someone in favour of a rural, slower paced life. In the first episode, Yorkshireman Pete and 32-year-old farmer Christine begin their quest to find the perfect partner.
In the second episode, dairy farmers Pete and Ed each invite three possible suitors to join them on their farms. The women are thrown straight into the unfamiliar territory of farm life, and have to compete for the attention of their date. Meanwhile, 33-year-old farm contractor Paul from Worcestershire, 39-year-old cattle and sheep farmer Richard from Dumfries and Galloway, and 59-year-old pig farmer Wendy from Herefordshire all meet a selection of applicants that wrote back to them, and invite them on a series of face to face dates.
This time, 28-year-old equine vet Heather and 33-year-old cattle and sheep farmer Christine's dates arrive to sample rural life. Christine throws her two dates Joe and Josh straight in at the deep end with some particularly sensitive work, while the competition to win over vet Heather gets serious between her three chosen singletons. Elsewhere, Yorkshire dairy farmer Pete gets to spend some quality one on one time with each of his dates, and emotions run high when he finally reveals who he can see a future with.
Dairy farmer Ed is still unsure if he has found the one, so he travels to visit 29-year-old Lisa and 25-year-old Rebecca in each of their home towns. Meanwhile, 59-year-old pig farmer Wendy found herself drawn to former banker Paul and business man Simon, and when both men arrive on her farm, the competition heats up with both men vying for her heart. Elsewhere, Farrier Mark finds himself in a complicated situation when he admits that he is attracted to both of the women he invited to spend time with him in rural East Anglia.
Farmer Richard chooses between three men as they compete for his affections, setting two of them, Will and Peter, to work tagging 50 sheep to see how they measure up to farm life. Sara Cox also catches up with 29-year-old equine vet Heather, who previously invited three men to spend some time with her to see if love could blossom, while Pete and his date Helen take things to the next level with a romantic overseas break.
Farm contractor Buzz juggles dating two best friends who he chose from the speed dating session, while 55-year-old farrier Mark keeps his options open as he dates Renita and Sarah, but there is a twist in the tale for him. Pig farmer Wendy is bonding with Paul, who wants to introduce her to some of his friends from his days as a banker, and the couple sit down to discuss whether love could be on the horizon.
