Great episode.
Starting with a bang.
Fuck Iron Fist.
Yup, was good. I think it is not so easy to make a great introduction to the Punisher because he is a difficult person without much backgroud. Waited since Daredevil and I am not dissapointed. He is what other super hero movies are missing: a stonecold killer, who doesn't think about justice and just acts.
It could have more action for the first episode but I am sure the other episodes will have more action.
well, we sure got off with the ball rolling.
oh. and I must say .. The intro sure beats Danny Rand, Iron Fist, trained by the masters of K'UN LUN
Really nice pilot of course it wouldn't be netflix if aprox 10 mins into the first episode wasn't "racism, sexism..." crap mentioned. This is exactly why Netflix won't see a single dollar from me tho I would really like to support this show.
A slower start to The Punisher's solo story but definitely needed regardless if you've seen Daredevil Season 2 or not. Frank Castle attempts to live a normal day by day life despite the constant traumatizing reminder that his whole family is dead. Members of Homeland Security don't exactly believe Castle is dead. When Castle notices Donny's life is in danger by other coworkers, he steps in and uses his military training to take out three men in a deadly and bloody fight. Let's also take a moment to appreicate how cool the opening sequence for this show is.
Fantastic start to the show, brutal and Jon kills it as The Punisher! Want to learn more of his backstory too which isn't something I'm usually too bothered about. Looking forward to the rest, just hope the entire season is string
(8.5/10) - I have not heard many people talking about ‘The Punisher’ and I have never acknowledged him as an iconic marvel character, so I was not incredibly motivated to watch this show. However, after seeing Jon Berthnal’s exceptional and iconic performance as Shane Walsh in AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’, I thought I’d give this series a try.
… and boy it is bloody fantastic so far! Pilot episodes are never really intense or fast-paced, and they often contain necessary but sometimes boring insights into certain characters’ backstories, but this pilot is certainly unique.
I loved the dark and mysterious vibe of the episode; the soundtrack, special effects and acting was absolutely spot on. There isn’t a whole lot of dialogue in this episode, but that isn’t required as the fast-moving plot and even early character development hits the nail on the head!
Frank Castle spends a lot of the episode traumatised and haunted by memories of his past with his children and continually sees certain visions of his wife, which I really enjoyed as it was a different approach to telling a story without conveying too much critical information- it helped to keep me hooked.
Overall, I am very excited to see what is next for this stand-out series and I’m definitely going to binge-watch!
Best Scene (SPOILER WARNING!!!) When Frank absolutely destroys Lance and his team of criminals after they hurl an injured Donny into a cement mixer.
what a satisfying ending to this episode
That probably was the best first episode of any of the Marvel/Netflix seasons. Already had high expectations to begin with based on Bernthals perfomance in Daredevil but now they are through the roof. Just hope the rest of the season can deliver.
Only on the first episode, but I already feel like it’s going to be one of my favorite Marvel shows.
watched a bit of daredevil - didnt like it much. i thought i wouldnt like this either but there was just so much hype for it on tiktok that i had to. but i REALLY like it. good series premire, i hope the rest of it is like this
What a nice guy. He could have just stopped them from killing the kid. But he even went as far as getting rid of the gangsters, when Donny has willingly accepted to participate in a hold up AND fucked it up. With all the obvious consequences this will have for him. I mean, he's not stupid enough to think that nobody is gonna look for him.
What a start! My adrenaline is on the roof! At the end of this episode!
Wow - what an opener! I don't remember much of Daredevil S2 so I feel like this is a re-introduction to Frank Castle for me. And my go wasn't Jon Bernthal born for this part! It was slow and stirring, and I loved every minute - packed with emotion and tension. Looking forward to seeing where we go from here.
If I counted it right, Bernthal did his head rubbing thing only once.
Great opening episode
pretty much a one shot episode doesn't really connect to the rest of the season but it is a good reintroduction to the main title character
The thing has not started badly, to see as follows
Slow and boring until the last ten minutes. Hope it becomes better.
Great start to the season. I enjoy Jon Bernthal’s punisher. Good action scenes just wish there were more. This episode had a little bit of everything, some backstory, new characters and action. I really hope they get the pacing down for this show. It’s always been a problem with the Netflix marvel shows.
So far so good. Really enjoy Bernthal as the Punisher!

The worst episode of the season. This episode manages to crush everything wrong about Punisher in one episode. Luckily the rest of the season is excellent. But this episode has so many problems such as the overly idealized "perfect wife" who isn't a real person (which continues). There's violence in this episode towards the end that is just brutal for the sake of being brutal. It's what a teenager thinks The Punisher is about.
The Punisher is a character who understands everything about what he does. He's violent yes but controlled violence that's purposeful. He kills but he kills because he's already done the mental math and concluded that it must be done. It's his superpower as it were. Moral superiority. He doesn't agonize about whether or not to kill his enemy. He kills and goes to sleep because he unlike many superheroes has already suffered extreme cruelty. But Castle's not cruel and the violence in this episode can't be considered anything other than cruel. He doesn't need to destroy these men to save the boy and yet he does. The framing of the episode so far does everything it can to humanize the victims of his attacks. Which isn't what you do when you want your hero to kill people. The framing of the fight scene at the end implies this is an awesome thing done by an awesome guy. It's not. It's just an ugly violent inhuman version of Frank Castle even by comic book standards. When what made him so good in Daredevil Season 2 was his humanity.
