Elisabeth Friis, a housekeeper of the Varnæs family, decides to move in her own apartment and become a play teacher.
Mads acquires neighboring property and extends the business. The family is also faced with an extension when Ingeborg is pregnant.
Albert Arnesen needs money again, but when Korsbæk Bank has closed the money box, Damernes's stomach cracks. Albert walks home and falls dead.
Jørgen Varnæs's wife Minna has found out that her husband has a secret mistress and will therefore be separated.
