Gonzálo demands that Marisela sleep with him to regain her trust. Antonio suspects Gonzálo. Santos goes to look for the Toad at his house. Marisela confesses to Bárbara everything she knows about Gonzalo's complicity with El Sapo.
Santos discovers the planes and asks Maurice for help. Antonio renounces Gonzalo after a confrontation. Santos meets with the Prime Minister and asks for his help against El Sapo and Gonzalo. Antonio informs Santos that Marisela is marrying Gonzalo.
Barbara turns back to her dark partner. Antonio's daughter's hospital bill increases and he has no money. Marisela finds the money that El sapo gave to Gonzálo. León shoots Carmelito and María Nieves when he assaults them.
León steals Santos' money and leaves his men badly injured. El Sapo tortures Juan Primito. Gonzalo accuses Antonio of embezzlement. Santos's men are found. Marisela pays Antonio's hospital debt. Juan Primito escapes from the Toad.
Marisela pays Antonio's bail and Gonzálo sends for him. Barbara appears before Santos to assure him that she did not attack his men. Tigre goes to the clinic to finish off María Nieves. At Carmelito's funeral, Santos swears he will be avenged.
Antonio is arrested again. Gregorio, the inspector sent by the minister, arrives in the region. Gonzalo tries to abuse Marisela. Barbara confesses to Santos that she forced Marisela to marry. Marisela recovers the photos but Gonzalo discovers her.
Gonzalo hits Marisela and takes the photos from her. Gervasia meets León and accuses him of murder. Inspector Gregorio photographs Gonzalo dealing with El Sapo. Barbara seduces León into confessing his crime. Santos goes to rescue Marisela.
Santos rescues Marisela. The police chase Gonzalo. Barbara bursts in threatening Gonzalo but he manages to capture her. Cornered, Gonzalo tries to flee. El Sapo takes refuge with Pernalete before Gregorio's operation to capture him.
Santos helps capture Gonzalo and imprisons him. Tigre and León try to escape but Melquiades stops them. Antonio is appointed interim governor. Barbara publishes Sapo's photo to ensure his death, El Sapo feels cornered.
María Nieves wakes up and denounces León. Pernalete and Mujica investigate Bárbara for El Sapo. When Santos arrives at El Miedo, Bárbara is still obsessed with him, gives him her money and gives him Tigre to find León. Santos confronts Leon.
In the confrontation, Santos shoots León who falls dead in front of his brother. Barbara goes to the gossip to protect Eustaquia. El Sapo continues hiding with Pernalete and is almost discovered by Bárbara. Pajarote confesses that he killed León.

El Sapo leaves Eustaquia badly injured, who is found by Bárbara. Antonio offers to help Barbara, but she wants to hunt down the Toad. On her deathbed, Eustaquia apologizes to Marisela. The inspector reads Danger's diary and looks for Barbara.
Barbara's men abandon her after looting her farm. Mortens is obsessed with Barbara's imprisonment and makes a deal with the Tiger. El Sapo attacks Encarnación's hacienda. Barbara buries Eustaquia and prepares to kill or be killed.
Tigre describes Barbara's atrocities to Mortens. Melquiades eliminates Facundo but El Sapo mortally wounds the Indian. Santos imprisons Marisela to protect her while he goes to help Bárbara. El Sapo manages to catch Bárbara and Santos.
Barbara insults Sapo's manliness and as she approaches, she uses Melquiades' dart to knock him out. Marisela, Antonio and Santos's men want to go help him but they must mislead Mortens. Despite Santos, Barbara gives El Sapo the worst ending.
Mortens questions Santos about El Sapo. Barbara digs up his money and escapes. Altamira's men protect Bárbara from the police and help her escape. Hidden, Barbara sees Santos and Marisela kissing and cannot control her jealousy.
Barbara realizes that she will not be able to separate Santos and Marisela and decides to accept their love. Santos helps Barbara to escape and confesses that he loves her. Barbara wants to commit suicide, but Marisela senses it and comes to her aid.
Marisela rescues Bárbara who decides to go away to leave Marisela happy with Santos. Barbara helps in a mission until the ghosts of Eustaquia and Melquiades come for her, but the legends do not die, they stay forever.
