Excellent show, one of the best superhero shows to make it onto the small screen.

Another good episode. Peacemaker jumping from ledges only to fall in different ways, was a great laugh. The "looking at my dick" routine between between Peacemaker and Vigilante went on a little too long and didn't contain the usual zing that most Gunn comedic scenes do.

I don’t know if you can say the team really formed this episode but they certainly took a big step forward. John Cena is really flooring me with his range as an actor in the series so far too.

HAVING FUN AT THE COST OF FORGETTING THE MISSION

:wavy_dash::wavy_dash::wavy_dash::wavy_dash:

:white_check_mark: Things that pass: Characters, Look, Music, Emotions, Pacing, Expectations, Replay Value

A faster pace and tenser atmosphere compared to the first episode; more of Gunn’s typical Tarantinoan dialogue and pop culture references; realism in terms of how Peacemaker largely function as a normal human being; great performance from Robert Patrick as Peacemaker’s hardboiled daddy; some light exploration of the man under the Peacemaker helmet; Vigilante as the worst best friend eve; the exciting final scene.

:wavy_dash::wavy_dash::wavy_dash::wavy_dash:

:part_alternation_mark: Things that fall in between: Story, Novelty, Memorability

Still no real plot development, and mostly just messing around for the fun of it.

Christ that Vigilante guy is insane, killing people for even commiting graffiti??? But atleast he seems like a loyal friend to Peacemaker. Also looks like August is this massive seemingly white nationalist cult leader at prison, after being falsely arrested when leota bribed the witnesses into choosing him. Also man, Peaemaker really is a tragic character, its clear he wants to build up relationship with people, but he's just such an asshole to others around him, unintentionally pushing away people he could actually be friends with. Also, tho Vigilantie is mentally insane, i do like seeing him hang out with Peacemake,r the scenes are always fun to watch. And poor Leota, although it was the right thing to do to keep her girlfriend safe, it sucks Leota had to break up with her and push her away.

yep. the prolonged trailer scene could have been shortened.

second episode is great too.. wow I'm hooked already

the show is sooo funny and doesn't feel forced

John struggling to escape was hilarious

I'm excited to see what's the deal with the butterflies and Chris's father

The only funny thing was basically the opening theme dance.

Trying way too hard to be funny, it comes across as written by a 13 years old. I know Gunn sometimes gets over the top with the idiotic stuff, but it's usually funny.
Or, now that I think about it.. also felt like too ad libbed. You know when comedians think that if they drag the joke adding details and stuff it will magically get funny just cause they're committing to it? That. As if the actors were said "that's what happens, go for it". And so they came up with childish stuff.

Liked the pilot, this one was just cheap

It’s embarrassing how incompetent Peacemaker and Leota are at their job but things are working out kind of. Peacemaker should’ve told them about the device he’s found, too.
Interestingly, he's starting to feel regrets over his actions. I mean, he is an asshole, and self-awareness is the first step to becoming a better human being I guess. The comedy wasn’t as good in this episode.

That was great fun and occasionally very funny. James Gunn is still too obsessed with penises though. There’s like 5-10 penis jokes an episode just within 2 episodes, so far.

Great ending music, perfectly fits into the dialogue. Wow I love this show already.

  • The opening credits are beautiful

Peacemaker: "This is... must have."

  • He's a thief :O

Harcourt: "John didn't do it."
Economos: "Thank you."
Harcourt: "He's too big of a pussy to betray us."
Economos: "All right."

  • RIP

Peacemaker: [Crying.] "Everybody fucking hates you!"

  • Damn

Vigilante: "I am extra special careful in all my heroic endeavours, which is probably the reason why, and, I don't meant to be a prick, you went to prison and I didn't."

  • Got 'em

Vigilante: "When I find out someone murdered an innocent person, or sold somebody heroin, or did some grafitti, and I kill that person with my bare hands, their eyeballs popping out of their skulls, you think that gives me pleasure?"
[Peacemaker scoffs.]
Peacemaker: "No."
[Vigilante tilts his head.]
Vigilante: "Well, it does."
[Vigilante laughs. Peacemaker looks at him.]
Vigilante: "It gives you pleasure too, Peacemaker. That's 'cause we're born killers."

  • Damn

Vigilante: "Now do I sound like a fucking maniac?"

  • Yes, lol

Prisoner: "All hail! ...the White Dragon."

  • Oh, Peacemaker's dad is a cult leader

7/10

Hmm  The humor in the is really juvenile. Want to like the show, but the humor makes it kinda tough.

I quite liked that they treat the quippy one-liner spouter Adebayo as seen as the dumber person by other characters, which kinda shows how ridiculous it is to be quippy in serious situation - like a slap to MCU face. I also liked they slipped in the derogatory "cape shit" to refer to superheroes/supervillains.

But I guess the episode swings between jocular and serious moments a little too hard, and it's a bit difficult to get the tone they're trying to convey here. I get it that this show is an action comedy show, but it would've been great if they can maintain a tone a bit more consistently. The drama between the couple is a bit too overdone, as well as the dick joke between Vigilante and Peacemaker, and the part where Peacemaker had to jump from ledges. I guess it's a bit too much for a 45 minutes episodes - too little substance.

It's fine overall but I hope this doesn't end up as "Deadpool but DCEU".
