Season two begins moments after the explosive season one finale and the girls are the talk of the town. Surprises and challenges will be in store for each, and "A" may succeed in her quest. Emily, Hanna, Spencer, and Aria are crumbling under the constant pressure of A's relentless texts and the knowledge that A inexplicably knows every little detail of their lives, including their thoughts, and is watching and anticipating the girls' every move. Spencer's family is falling apart. Aria and Ezra's relationship gets even more complicated, and Aria's brother Mike finds himself in trouble with the law, while their parents find themselves tested like never before.
In the second-season premiere, the girls face the fallout from what happened with Ian at the church, and their parents have them talk with a therapist. Meanwhile, Caleb returns to see Hanna; and Spencer is told that Toby is off-limits.
Emily is contacted by a college swim team recruiter. While the Liars struggle with being separated, Hanna doesn't know who to reach out to when her father shows up in Rosewood unexpectedly.
Aria signs up for a college pottery class to get closer to Ezra, Emily lies to her mother about her swimming scholarship status, and Spencer spies on Alison's older brother, who has just moved back into Rosewood.
Hanna helps Lucas score a date, while Emily deals with the aftermath of her mother spilling to everyone that she has a scholarship offer.
Hanna learns more about Caleb's foster family, while the other Liars deal with the resolution and closure of the news about Ian.
The night before the annual Rosewood Charity Fashion Show, Allison's mother reappears in town and requests that the remaining girls model in the show in honor of her deceased daughter.
It's Emily's moving day, while Hanna worries about Caleb's wheelings and dealings. Aria is concerned about a party that both Ezra and Jason are invited to and Toby reacts to a discovery about Spencer.
The pressures upon Emily come to a head when her father shows up for one of her biggest swim meets, and she winds up in the hospital. Meanwhile Hanna is dealing with her Dad's upcoming wedding and the possibility of Caleb leaving town.
Spencer is determined to find out what Jason is hiding at his house and decides to finally get some answers. With Jason continuing to pop up in Aria's life, will she be able to resist their undeniable chemistry?

Instead of focusing on figuring out who the “helper” is, Hanna decides to put all of her efforts into throwing a surprise party for Caleb. But will a surprise party at Spencer’s lake house be the diversion Hanna is looking for, or just a recipe for disaster?

Spencer looks to find answers on what is going on between Jason and her father when Jason shows up as a chaperone; Aria continues to question Holden on what exactly he is up to during their "date nights," and Hanna tries to figure out the latest situation with Kate. But will the girls be ready for what they find out when shocking truths are revealed?
Meanwhile, Emily gets help from an unlikely source to get back on the Rosewood swim team.
Caleb's involvement in cracking "A's" phone has had Hanna worried from day one and now "A" is determined to punish him for it. With Det. Wilden and Garrett now circling Caleb on bogus hacking charges and in possession of his computer, Hanna and her friends are convinced that this won't end well. What are the police looking for on Caleb's computer and better yet, would could "A" have possibly planted on the computer to interest the police this much? Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer may soon get another example of what happens to people they involve in "A's" game.
Meanwhile, Aria learns what Holden's been keeping a secret as Byron starts to question the relationship.
Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer have been the target of "A’s" games for awhile, leaving them emotionally cut off from their families and friends. But when a surprising new victim of "A" is revealed, the PLLs tight-knit group may just get one person larger. But what is "A’s" motive of targeting someone outside of Alison’s group of besties?
