I am LOVING this! I've read the book, watched the telenovela and this is different enough to not feel like a retread and it's GOOD on top of that. :D
I was immediately hooked from the get go, it's not often to watch a series based on the first viewpoint of a Mexican woman and how she became the leader of the cartel. I pretty much can't stop watching episode after episode because I'm so invested in how she got to where she got to.
Just catching up on this show now. It's pretty intriguing.

Every story beat was utterly stupid. Teresa manages to magically slip away THREE TIMES while she was surrounded or captured by multiple goons. The most idiotic scene was that of Epifanio peeing side-by-side with his bodyguard, allowing Teresa to steal their firearms... facepalm.jpg
Guero and Epifanio's wife were the most unrealistic characters. As if a pretty, white knight from Texas would ever manage to ascend the ranks of a Mexican cartel... To do that one needs to be narcissistic, manipulative and vicious but also seem non-threatening to his superiors.
Just go watch Get Shorty (2017) instead. Much better written characters, and Amara's backstory, personality and behavior are a lot more realistic for a drug boss.

Never heard of this but WOW what an action packed beginning to this series. This made me forget about USA cancelling Graceland.
