So the main mystery which was the identity of the murderer was revealed, that's good. I'm glad it happened in the first season. However, I am saddened by the end, I think Mr Andrews will survive though, I hope.
I see a lot of comments about how ridiculous this show is, but honestly - isn't that kind of the point? It doesn't take itself seriously and neither should you. I mean - "the ultimate cliffhanger"???
I'm looking forward to Hiram Lodge showing up - he's been built up as such a villain, he has to be interesting in some way.
uuuh i didn't see that coming. super heartbroken right now, i don't know what to say.
So these characters have gotten my heart in just two days. I love how they didn't drag the murder of Jason Blossom out. I really liked how right up until the ending you still suspect several people for his murder and it is still shocking to see his dad shoot him, even when he was a main suspect.
I love Cheryl, honestly, I thought she was just going to be this stereotypical bratty girl but she has many layers and that attempt at a suicide gave me chills. I love the dynamic that she has with her mom, I would love to see more of her and what drives her.
I would love to see Jug become a Serpent, it suits him.
I for one don't like Veronica and Archie, I loved Archie a lot more with Valerie. I know I might get some angry faces but I just don't feel the chemistry between Veronica and Archie like you feel with Jughead and Betty for example.
I told my friends that I was rewatching Riverdale, and they all asked me, "ironically??" I wish I could say yes, but despite this show being so ????, I still love it so much. It is one of my greatest guilty pleasures along with Pretty Little Liars.
All in all I enjoyed this show much more than I thought I would. I just started watching it because I was looking for a new show and my expectations were really low. The show is cheesy, a bit over the top and there are quite a few stereotypes, but at the same time it has a certain charm. I'm actually excited for a new season :)
I actually felt so bad for Cheryl. She did some things this season that made me want her to die. But when it came down to her taking her own life because of her shitty family, she just didn't deserve that. I loved that the ice didn't break when they all ran to save her. It was ridiculous. It would have been more realistic and hilarious if some of them just fell through and they all had to save each other. I hope in season 2, Cheryl joins the gang and becomes less of a bitch. She deserves happiness. She's been through too much.
Jughead's face when he got the serpent jacket. He can finally have a family now and be a part of something, but then Betty's gonna be like "no you can't, they're bad people."
I was gonna give up on this show, but since they answered all of the dumb Jason Blossom stuff, I'll stick around. I hope for lots of Cheryl character development in season 2.
The Scooby-Doo and Heroes references were dumb. They just took classic lines and paraphrased them...
The writing in this episode was off-the-charts ridiculous, even for this show. I still don't care about Archie and Veronica. Or Archie, for that matter. Considering the source material's named for him, I consistently find him the least interesting part of the show.
Some gorgeous shots in this episode though. That wide shot of Betty and Jughead walking through the park. Alice, Betty, and the mirror. The entire scene on the frozen river was intense and visceral.
Too bad Penelope couldn't have died in that fire. She's a terrible mother. I actually feel bad for Cheryl more often than I'm mad at her. Her family is clearly toxic and she's exhibiting symptoms of more than one mental illness and instead of anyone trying to get her help, they just try to control her and write her off as unstable.
Betty's fabulous as always, as is Jughead (though I'm worried about what that jacket means but I trust he's smart enough to figure it out). I never watched The Suite Life of Zack and Cody so prior to this show my entire knowledge of Cole Sprouse's acting was limited to Big Daddy. He's really been a pleasant surprise. He brings so much dimension to Jughead you can easily feel everything Jughead feels.
I could do without this particular writer. There's a line between noir and soap opera and this guy clearly has no idea what he's doing. Loved the direction in this ep though.
GOD I JUST KNEW SOMETHING LIKE THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN ARCHIE WENT TO THE BATHROOM :(
That scene with Cheryl will always get me. It is just so intense
I love how they all stopped short of running out on the ice due to it being unstable. But then once Cheryl went under, they were all able to sprint across the ice with abandon and had no problems doing so.
If Clifford Blossom killed off Jason, then he knew that FP was the one responsible for disposing of the body. Once Jason's body washed up and was discovered, why didn't Clifford immediately have FP killed in order to cover up his tracks? He was ruthless enough to murder his own son, he certainly wouldn't bat an eye about having a criminal murdered as well.
I highly doubt they're going to kill off Fred here. They've spent so much time setting up this Fred vs. Hiram plot arc. It's just a cheap shock value season cliffhanger ending.
i think the finale would be better if they didn't shorten the first 30 seconds into retelling. it would be more fun if it were the finale's main plot
I still would have preferred a more light hearted archie show that is closer to the comics. But i will still give this a chance until season two and hope they bring some more humor and positive storylines to mix it up with their dark and gritty themes in the next season :-)
I still would have preferred a more loght hearted

What could possibly be worse than a kingpin father killing his own son to keep his drug dealing business a secret? I don't even wanna know.
I keep getting baffled by how immune to the cold these kids are. At first I thought the snow was fake, but I don't think a TV show can fake that much snow. How are they not freezing walking in the snow in a hoody without even a scarf to keep them somewhat warm? Their outerwear is NOT appropriate.
Archie is SO having second thoughts about Betty. No one will be able to convince me otherwise. I see you, Andrews.
And Cheryl may be a complete sociopath, but she totally got that from her mom.
Lastly, if that last act of violence was "anything but random", does that mean the robbery was actually supposed to be a hit on Fred? Oh, who could possibly have hired a thug to shoot Fred Andrews?
