    Danni and Krystyna determine if food that’s fallen on the floor is safe to eat if you pick it up within five seconds. Our test dummies Aj, Fabiana, and Spencer take pizza and bagels to Prospect park intentionally drop them on different surfaces. We thenswab them for bacteria and bring the swabs to the Columbia University Lab to develop on petri dishes for 72 hours. Once they develop Dr. Susan Wittier helps us determine what bacteria is present on food after five seconds of exposure on different surfaces.

    Our test dummies take on two painful challenges: a spicy noodle taste test and a cold plunge. We measure their tolerence to pain in timed trials, one where they can swear and one where they can't. Danni and Krystyna join in on the spicy challenge and let us know how pain signals travel through our bodies and investigate why it feels so good to swear.

    Most people are afraid of sharks when they visit the beach, but there are many more common threats that we don’t consider, like jellyfish, rip tides, even sunburns! Danni is headed to the beach to show you why ocean currents are a much bigger issue than great whites.

    We test out popular old wives tales: Does white wine remove red wine stains? Does peanut butter get gum out of your hair? Does chewing bread while chopping onions stop you from crying?

    Danni and Krystyna discuss what makes cute things cute. Our test dummies squeeze a stress ball while watching cute animals and we tally their squeezes.

    Lots of new technology like freezing and frying your fat cells promises to slim you down. We’ll compare these new trends to traditional diet and exercise techniques.
