There are limited seats available. You can make reservations in advance at JR Station Green Window Ticket Counters and travel centers around Japan.
There are bento meals also available for reservation, however they won't make any adjustments to the meal so if you are unable to eat what is on the menu I recommend eating before hand.
We spent the day cycling around Yawatahama in Ehime Prefecture! The locals were all so kind, just one of the reasons I love the Japanese countryside :)
